Matthew Vaughn is plausible, with the connection to Craig. I just wonder why they haven't made it yet..

Matthew Vaughn was on the table for Casino Royale but it didn't work out when the film was delayed from 2005 to 2006. He went on to direct the X-Men series, which was '60's Bond in it's own right.

I'd love to see Chris Nolan get his opportunity. As long as he doesn't fill it with the cast of Inception again like he did with TDKR.
  • Tim Burton's version of James Bond would be weird....every location would be like Scaramanga's fun house

Personally, would love to see Martin Scorsese get a chance of directing a Bond film. Think it would be amazing.

The Coen Brothers would be an intriguing choice aswell
  • Even if he wanted to, Scorsese wouldn't get hired because he's a huge name. EON seem to be sticking with less known directors.

I would enjoy seeing my favorite director, Michael Mann, direct one, because it would have an incredibly realistic feel to it. But, I know many aren't a fan of him, and I think it just wouldn't feel like a Bond film once he took the helm.

Isn't there an unwritten rule that Bond films can't/won't be directed by Americans?

So far it looks that way and I don't expect it will be change any time soon, so yes.

    Here's my wishlist:

    1. Christopher Nolan (A terrific storyteller with grand visions that he isn't intimidated about realizing)
    2. Tom Hooper (He clearly likes breaking new ground. Look at what he's done with Les Misérables)
    3. Lukas Moodysson (Very talented Swedish director, has potential to do wonders with a solid script)
    4. Simon Curtis (Started in TV and is starting to transition to films. Directed 'My Week with Marilyn')
    5. Terence Davies (He's up there in age, but he just has such a great eye. I would love to see a Terence Davies-directed Bond film)

Simon Curtis look like alternate choose of David Yates, Curtis direct Daniel Radcliffe before he whas Harry Potter for that David Corperfield movie. If he direct it be very sad if Skyfall is realy Dench her last Bond movie. I think David Yates making a big chang to direct Bond 24, already discus in another thread. Simon Curtis mabey he is discus earlier. Personaly i stil like to see what Mike Newell can make from a Bond movie.

Terence Davies is younger then Martin Campbell, but stil 68 years old next year. But intresting choose there can keep the cinematograhper of Skyfall, take Robert Shafear (QOS) or take his from The Deep Blue Sea. In that case or John Curran as directer Ruth Myers can be intresting as costume designer, she did this DC for Goldencompass and for The Paintedveil (movie directed by John Curran). John Curran wil possible never consider because he is American directer.
  • Good idea @TrueMiracle85 My wishlist. I know almost all of them won't happen

    1) Quentin Tarantino (just a really talented director who can tell a good story and seems like a Bond fan)

    2) Christopher Nolan (this actually has a chance of happening now he's finished Batman and I hope it does. He's a Bond fan and is a very talented director. What's not to like?)

    3) Edgar Wright (he could do the funny stuff and can do action. He's really talented but isn't huge, so there's a chance of him getting the job, and maybe Dalton could put a good word in for him)

    4) Ricardo Rodriguez (he can do some really good action scenes and he has more variety than almost anybody working in Hollywood. He switches from doing kids film to ultra violent stuff like Machete in a flash and his El Mariachi trilogy is one of, if not the best film trilogy ever imo)

    Nolan for Bond 24.

    Mendes for Bond 25.

New Bond for Bond 26 (maybe Campbell for one last time??)
  • Would love to see Mendes return for Bond 24 - but like I said in an earlier post I think Joe Wright (Hanna/Atonement) would be a good choice......

If Campbell did it, it'd be fantastic. But he only likes to when there's a major change in the cannon. We'll have to see how they plan to bring on a new actor.

When I saw that - that was the first thing I thought of..but I hope not! I want Mendes to return!

Vaughn is the only director that could direct Bond 24 for me instead of Mendes and I wouldn't complain.

    Big news:

Matthew Vaughn has officially left the next the XMen Days of Future Past film for unspecified reasons, the same day it's revealed that Logan will be penning B24.

It looks, to me at least, like he could be a frontrunner for B24 now....

I'd really like to see Darren Aronofsky do one, but I think Joe Wright would do a very good job. I'd ideally like for Mendes to return, but he probably won't so my list is like this:
    1. Darren Aronofsky
    1a. Christopher Nolan
    2. Tom Hooper
    3. Joe Wright
    4. Danny Boyle
    5. Matthew Vaughn
    6. Ridley Scott
    7. Nicholas Winding Refn
    8. Brad Bird
    9. David Fincher
    10. Steven Spielberg

Matthew Vaughn be in my list of directers who i think made a big change to direct Bond 24.

    Alfonso Cuarón
    Guillermo del Toro
    David Yates
    Mike Newell
    Matthew Vaughn
    John Madden

Why you can read in this thread that i made earlier

    http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/2537/alfonso-cuaron-david-yates-mike-newell-matthew-vaughn-john-madden/p1

But who i like so see direct only 2 people from this list and that not be Vaughn but John Madden. From Mike Newell i like to see a Bond movie in years. John Madden and also the directer of In Bruges and Vaughn working before with same cinematographer. Also with John Madden Thomas Newman can stay, shame of course be that Dench possible wil not return whyle he working with her on The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel but he can do her M chacter judges mabey. For who don't know John Madden working with Vaughn as writer. That Madden have a connection with Vaughn and Jesper Christensen with The Dept sound very intresting. Matthew Vaughn, Jane Goldman (She wrote the James Bond short about International Woman day) and John Logan i see as possible option as writers whyle Madden direct. I think Logan is a better choose as writer mabey then Peter Straughan.

Let's assume that Mendes doesn't want to return for the next Bond then my choices would be:

    1) Tom Hooper
    2) Joe Wright

Sorry it's a short list but unless Eon change their mind on allowing an American to direct I really don't much care for what's on offer this side of the Pond.

I'm not convinced Mathew Vaughn has got what it takes to helm a big budget movie unless he's involved as producer with total creative control as my bet is he'd end up walking off the project due to creative differences much like Roger Michell did on QoS. As much as I like some of his work I think the guy has got far too big an ego for the Bond producers to entertain him as the next director; besides he's got Mark Millar's Secret Service lined up as his next project.

I'm also not convinced by Edgar Wright who is probably too flashy and stylized with his rapid-fire cuts and his Run Lola Run influences to direct a serious DC continuation piece. Maybe he can adapt, but then my argument would be then why hire someone whose style is part of their DNA in order to change the way they work?

I'll stick with Tom Hooper if Mendes doesn't want it.

I think a lot of directors could do a good job. But if you are looking for a great result you should ask Oscar winning Michel Hazanavicius. That woud be interesting.
  • No one up for Tim Burton to step in? :-\"

Another interesting name would be Tomas Alfredson who made Tinker tailor solider spy.

If you have seen Safe house, with Denzel Washington, by Daniel Espinosa. That is a great director as well...
