In the very early 90's i do know that film posters in the UK were not allowed to show guns, thanks to the moronic censorship from the BBFC at the time. (Reservoir Dogs was even banned on video)

The film poster for One False Move featured a character shooting a cop on a highway. With the gun removed it just looked ridiculous.

Not sure what the thinking (or lack of) was with the Bond pictures, but they were rapidly removed.

UK censorship was at its most crackpot in the '80s. Spycatcher, the memoir of an ex-MI5 agent and former Assistant Director, was available everywhere in the free world, but was banned from publication in England. English newspapers were not only banned from printing excerpts, but even from reviewing it - The Economist famously and pointedly printed a blank space where the review should have been. Hilariously, you could just hop over the border and buy Spycatcher anywhere in Scotland, though...
Most bizarre stunt was when Thatcher banned Gerry Adams's voice from being broadcast in Britain - an actor could re-dub what he said and it was fine to show that, but you weren't allowed to hear his actual voice... :-O

The Economist also printed this lovely little explanation:
In all but one country, our readers have on this page a review of 'Spycatcher,' a book by an ex-M.I.5-man, Peter Wright. The exception is Britain, where the book, and comment on it, have been banned. For our 420,000 readers there, this page is blank – and the law is an ass.

Side-note, I was quite surprised to learn Spycatcher was co-authored by Paul Greengrass. Guess he was going to be telling spy stories no matter what.

Oh, yeh, I'd forgotten about Greengrass co-writing it - excellent!

Well, it seems that someone may have sabotaged Amazon today, perhaps Blofeld is hard at work killing their AWS cloud service. James Bond will be on the case, for sure. ;)

Best Case Scenario: I think we are all in agreement, a return to form Bond that continues the tradition and legacy started with Cubby and Harry.. I’ve always said that a film close to the tone of Goldeneye or Tomorrow Never Dies would be perfect after the Craig era.. not that I dislike Craig’s run - quite the opposite, on the whole I enjoyed it.. but this new Bond needs to be a contrast to the previous films, and not try to be Craig 2.0

Worst Case Scenario: they Kathleen Kennedy the **** out of this thing, and put a bunch of incompetent people in charge and run the franchise into the ground.. say what you will about MGW and Babs, but I think they truly approached each film with creativity first, and tried to make the best film they thought the could make.. with a conglomerate like Amazon, my fear is that it will just become a hollowed out husk of its former self - raped for profits and left a soulless mess.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but have there been any indications whether the new producers will keep the Bond family together, working with the long established production teams that are in many cases multi generational? So much of the flavour of ‘Bond’ as a phenomenon onscreen comes from its people

We don't know yet. I think a good number of the crew who worked with Heyman on the Potter and Paddington films worked on Bond, so I suppose it wouldnt be too difficult to do, especially if the production is based out of the UK.

I don't think so, and I don't really care. It's time to clean house.

I don’t think it’s about keeping the Bond family together. In theory I’m sure they’ll strive for a fresh start, with lead creatives being mostly new. In practice I think there’ll be people in there who’ve worked on previous Bond films.

The creative team from LTK to GE changed almost entirely, with a few making the transition to the latter.
I think that turned out okay.
