    I agree, that episode was very magical with the flying chariot and Scrooge-like character. That's the one I usually think of when trying to remember Who Xmas specials. That and the Santa robots or 'Roboforms'. Half way through Last Christmas at the moment.

    • Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978) - because people are not who they seem;
    • Dawn Of The Dead (1978) - because we're all shopping mall zombies;
    • The VVitch (2015) - because who doesn't enjoy the adverse side of religious zeal?

    Seriously though the 1978 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' is on that short list of superior remakes! That final shot always chills me to the bone!

    Seriously though the 1978 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' is on that short list of superior remakes! That final shot always chills me to the bone!

    It is an absolutely amazing film. And yes, the perfect Christmas movie.

    I would have Polanskis 'The Fearless Vampire Killers' as a must watch every Christmas, don't know why, it's just become a staple of my festive viewing!
    OHMSS has become an annual Christmas Day watch, 'Where Eagles Dare' is also a regular watch, and 'The Italian Job'. There's a couple of 4K purchases I have to view, two Pacino films, 'Scarface' and 'Carlitos Way'. There's a few other movies I will add to the list nearer the time!

    Ha! I had an unused voucher for the gaming chain of shops, CEX and managed to bag a second hand copy of The Fearless Vampire Killers. Look forward to seeing it again!

    Enjoy mate! Love the atmosphere Polanski creates. Great score , the unique Jack McGowan. Ferdy Maynes silky voice over, and the beautiful tragic Sharon Tate, and that marvellous twist ending!

    Going to Québec this year, so I will have the opportunity to enjoy Cine Cadeau:

    It's an old tradition, you have children films, mostly animated movies, aired throughout Christmastime. I used to watch them eagerly as a child.

    It's just so very nice. I can find the old films on YouTube, so I always have a sort of backup if I cannot be in Québec.

    Sorry, very late to quote this @zebrafish but I watched it two years ago for the first time. There's a third season coming. I'm not a fan of romcoms but this one I enjoyed a lot. A Storm for Christmas was even better.

    I watched Black Doves on Netflix last year. Nice enough thriller, but grossly unbelievable at times. Still, it's set during Christmastime, so it definitely counts.

    A few of the films on the list I watched when young living with my parents, I would stay up late to watch the Hitchcock films at Christmas so there is that nostalgia attached.

    Yeh, nostalgia is big with me too, most of the films I have on that list have Christmas memories for me in some way! For Bond, as well as OHMSS, a must, I would add a couple of Rogers 007 films, most notable MR (first watched it on St. Stephens Day!) TSWLM. which always seemed to shown on telly at Xmas, and FYEO, (maybe its the snow setting 😆)

    Funny, I mostly watched Hitchcock during summertime. I really associate them with August and September. Maybe because that's the time of year when they were aired when I was a kid.

    Another film I associate with Christmastime: Young Sherlock Holmes. A lot of Sherlock Holmes episodes, especially the ones with Jeremy Brett, especially The Blue Carbuncle obviously, I tend to enjoy during Christmas. And David Suchet's Poirot.

    They seemed to always have a Hitchcock season at Christmas when I was a young in the UK, talking of nostalgia watching a Hitchcock film at Christmas was the first time I was permitted to have a small glass of beer/lager shandy at home.

    Young Sherlock is a good film been decades since I saw it, very much a pre cursor to the Harry Potter films and books and that genre in general.

    Anybody watched Black Doves? If they make more seasons, it might become a new Christmas tradition, in spite of its many flaws.

    Murder on the Orient Express. The 1974 Lumet film with Albert Finney (not the dreadful Brannagh one). The cold snowy setting is just very Christmasy. That and Where Eagles Dare.

    As for Where Eagles Dare, despite it usually popping up on some channel over Christmas, I always make time to watch it! Preferably on a cold day, with a hot whiskey in hand! 😉
