Yes, I think LALD is a good example of being different in a good way. Contrary to what Richard Maibaum said about the movie. Hopefully, the wrong characters won't comeback like a certain character from LALD....
Maybe a TSWLM/DAF novel mashup?
A Bond film set in Upstate NY - that’d be a dream.
I'd love that, too.
Yeah. Well-put.
Agreed. My favorite parts of the DAF novel is when they're in Saratoga
I finished the DAF novel about a month ago and I have to agree. Plus I have strictly selfish reasons seeing as how I live in Upstate NY not far from Saratoga and some of the other towns and roads Fleming wrote about in both DAF and TSWLM. I love living in an area that has at least some connection to Fleming’s Bond and I’m sure I’ll have more appreciation when I get around to actually reading TSWLM.
A local author actually just published this book which details her experience recreating the journey that the female lead of TSWLM does on Route 9 - I haven’t bought it yet myself but I plan to make that same exact journey that she does in the novel - probably after I finish the novel for myself.

I've got the book written by Bond scholar and world's expert on Fleming's The Spy Who Loved Me, I can relate to 007 and the Upstate New York background shared.
A future 007 In New York could use Saratoga of course, plus other features of the Adirondacks and maybe "reverse course" back over the border to Canada.
But like you said Villeneuve will be locked in room with his editor for many months. It's going to be fascinating to watch things play out, but since there's still no timeline for Bond 26 it's hard to see Knight sticking around. My best guess is he hands in his draft, and then when the team is ready to start hiring actors and crew there will be another writer that comes in and tweaks Knights version, maybe even Villeneuve himself will make changes.
I need to read this book. I love Upstate NY. I'd love a future Bond film to use it and Canada as a setting.
You are right LALD is different but it still works.
