Fascinating that nobody of Dr. No's staff is actually helping to stop Bond. And to turn the heating back down.

Love the film, definitely one of the best ones.

Superb write up, @CommanderRoss! This movie made me the Bond fan I am today. I've always loved it.

Ah, that's where the 'fetch my shoes' controversy comes from. Sorry, but that's just idiotic. One should understand the context.

Funnily enough, that line isn't in the novel. Bond treats Quarrel with respect in the book.

Finally watching the one film I can't find on dvd (but should have), courtesy of modern-day slave driver Bezos, de. No!

There are literally hundreds of DVD copies on ebay. Most only a few pounds...

    My pleasure, love doing it!

tbh I don't get the impression he's disrespectful. I think that's a very American take to interpret it that way. He really throws the line as they're going to run for safety. If anything, in every other scene he's not just respectful to Quarrel, but treats him as a friend. Even when he's talking about the (non-existence) of dragons.

I have DR NO on now. That write up made me want to watch it again.

I wanted to see how this looks on AMAZON PRIME. The flashing lights/violence etc trigger warning during the gunbarrel was distracting.
So this is what the 4K transfer looks like? The establishing shot of London, like the Blu-ray is still far too dark compared to the cinematic 35mm prints.

Overall it's looking pretty good, though.

I love Bond's flat. My favorite of the rare times we see it.

To me this doesn't look too much different to the blu-ray. It might be a tad darker.

Connery has some great facial expressions when he's taking to Potter and Dent at the Queen's Club.

The tarantula scene is darker here.

Bond and Quarrel sneak onto Crab Key and this scene looks extremely dark on the Amazon transfer. Honey's intro is bright and colorful though.

I now switched to the ROKU Smart Picture setting to compare with standard. Slightly more natural skin tones. Not as saturated.

The reactor room is one of my favorite Ken Adam sets.
