The idea that Q is a stylish dresser, and that not only does that rub off on Bond but his sense of style is the reason why agents get Omegas and Aston Martins, is quite a neat one.
Not to mention the cigarette lighter bonus, which if provided by Q himself, could lead to Bond smoking a pack a day?

Ha! Yes, Q’s a killer in more ways than one!

    Car park.
    That's better - less syllables.

Come to think of it he did offer ciggies in the TLD video game.

First Light looks awesome, love the gameplay and dialogue. I think they missed a trick with the legacy edition - to not include the earpiece set or (recording?) pen from the actual game - but rather the golden gun (an icon for sure but from a previous era and thus not really exciting). Will try and get that set anyway, for the COA card...

    Random observations and musings:

Q-Branch technicians wear yellow safety earmuffs, like in TMWTGG

Bond wears the same style chauffeur hat as Tibbett

One of the bottles behind the bar is labeled 'Luna Blue'. In the 2015 game World of Espionage, there is a character called Estrella Luna, who is a 'rare agent', designated level colour blue.

One of the weapons is the 'Knight 1 AR', perhaps unlikely to be named after Steven Knight considering the timing, but came to mind.

Also some slightly annoying Americanisms ('parking lot') but never mind.
What do you call it in the UK?

I like how in Calvin's video he claimed that the new Q looks like he could've been a suave charmer spy thirty years ago. Although M looks more like Gia Sandhu to me rather than Priyanga Burford.
Turns out it was a good call on Burford, I still don't think it looks like her though! :D
It was a good call indeed, if a total fluke because it certainly doesn't look like her.

But that a shame that :
    1) the game not use real names for firearm but fictive ones
Yes it's always nice to have the real names for added authenticity, and I'm not really a fan of the weapon shapes looking a bit different, but at the same time it's kinda cool to have new weapons appearing in Bond's world.

Shame they didn't bring back the Wolfram!
Missed opportunity for sure. Same for the PP7 or PK7.

There's also the Specialist Edition which features classic tuxedo outfit:

    Young Bond looks fantastic.

My biggest fear that IOI wouldn't be able to handle the action, was unfounded. It looks like it can give the Uncharted games a serious run for their money. I'm loving the whole swagger of this Bond. And I don't know who composed the Bond theme in the trailer, but I need it NOW.

It feels like we are entering a new Golden Age for Bond games. I haven't bought a game day 1 since Sniper Elite 5. But this is going to be a day 1 purchase.

The game’s soundtrack is by The Flight.

It's unlikely, but if the soundtrack is released, i'm buying it no question.

Having gotten around to watching the extensive gameplay video, I'm definitely sold. Though there is still plenty of explosive action, there looks to be a lot more going on as well this time, which makes me very happy. Not 100% sure it will be amazing, but I feel what I've seen is very promising.

Thanks for that @Mallory, great read there. Excited to discover who will do the theme song for this game! I'm aware we've had them since maybe Nightfire(?), but hadn't even thought about it for this new game.

Definitely interested for this. I only recently discovered there is a TND game soundtrack, and managed to pick up the CD, despite it being for promotional use only. Seventeen tracks on that one.

Super excited for this next year! Hoping they do a boxed console edition ala N64 Goldeneye edition! [-O<

If you need evidence of what a sewer Musk’s X is, just look at the replies to this. You can probably imagine.

(I’m not talking about the folks who want subtitles for their language! :D )
So glad the conversation here stays well above that level.

I think she's fine she has a nice voice British accent she is definitely a nice mother figure for Bond.

Does making M a female necessitate her being a "motherly figure"?

No, don't be ridiculous. But describing her as having an "uncanny ability to see and shape someone’s potential" is a little motherly.

I don't bother with x/twitter anymore. I trust my instincts (impeccable as they are) and I can see this game is gonna rock.

Hoping for some typically Bondian sets though (rounded ceilings, steel staircases and the like) which is something I haven't spotted in the level design yet.

I think you’re making all the right calls. I like your insights on “Bondian” location characteristics as well; hopefully we see some of this in the game!

Yes, that would be cool. I guess they’re keeping the villain under wraps so hopefully there’s plenty of lair which we’re yet to see.

I’d also like to see a bit more movieness from some of the set pieces; I was watching a vid of the Jeep chase from Uncharted 4 and remembering how it has so much interest in it, how you move from beat to beat and it feels like a movie, but the car chase in the FL preview looked a bit dry: you just take some shortcuts and a slightly pointless jump but otherwise you just drive along a road.
It’s something Everything Or Nothing did quite well in fact.

Or maybe they're saving the full-on Bondian sets and stunts for a follow-up game (remember one of the developers saying they hoped FL would be the first of a series of games), and intend to ease into each game more of the classic tropes - although I should think B26 will appear before the next game and use that era's Bond likeness and tone.

That’s a good point: this First Light 007 works well now, but once the new Bond Cinematic Universe ( ;) )is up and running, will it look a bit redundant?

If the game is a big hit I don’t think they’ll change Bond’s look or the general feel of the game to match the new film. They’d presumably need some sort of new contract with the star (and co-stars) of the new film, and I think they wouldn’t want the needless effort and expense. If the game isn’t a hit, maybe they would retool, but I don’t know.

Yeah I guess Nightfire managed to have a Bond who wasn’t the big screen version at the time, but this one is slightly different as it’s telling the story of a completely different version of Bond. But then maybe with Amazon’s ownership and the spinoffs etc. we’re getting, that’s how Bond will be now. And it’s not wildly different to the novels and comics all having different versions of Bond anyway.

Came across this social media post featuring the game’s M and am not disappointed to see a bunch of miserable folks upset over a) This M being a woman b) being of Indian descent.

Well, I would be shocked if her name was Miles Messervy. But you also call more attention to it by continuing to post about it.

Heh- snap! I posted the same thing a few posts above.

Being older than the new Bond I can just about accept as he's a new, younger model; but being older than M is something I didn't realise I'd have to deal with so soon...

X/Twitter has always been a sewer. People are only calling it out now, as the platform has swung to the right.

I wouldn't take any notice of a few negative comments. The reaction online has been overwhelmingly positive. I have confidence that First Light will review highly.

Nah, it was never that overwhelmingly awful before. People are calling it out because it's got worse.
