More something I've never seen before rather than never noticed(!) but here's a BBC spy drama from 1966- it opens with a very familiar shot of a hotel on Miami beach as you'll see:

Except it's not actually the shot from Goldfinger! It's a completely different take, for one thing look out for the white car driving in the car park in front of the hotel.

Fascinating! Wow they are different. In the black and white version a busy street with traffic and cars. In GF not a single car on the road. Yet they both swoop by the hotel and both end with a male jumping into the pool.

Either the Black and White version is an homage and they filmed the exact same sequence or they somehow used an alternate take from the GF film? I wonder which it is.

I'd say it's an alternate take, sometimes shots from movies would end up as stock footage for other productions. The shot of the exploding helicopter from FRWL made it into two different Dr Who stories in the 60s and 70s.

Here’s a thing I hadn’t really thought about before: does 007 sound odd to Americans?

I just noticed that Americans and Brits differ in the way they say numbers: to us Brits 3,400 is ‘three thousand, four hundred’, whilst I think an American would say ‘thirty four hundred’, is that right? Meanwhile, if we had a phone number that started something like 012449, we’d likely say ‘oh one two double four nine’, whilst an American might say ‘zero one two four four nine’. We like to say ‘double’ when there’s two of the same number in a sequence whilst I don’t think that’s a thing in the US.
So does ‘double oh seven’ sound quite odd to American ears?

@mtm thats an interesting observation, yet more of a personal opinion between members rather than something that happens with the Bond series.
Please try and keep the topic to things not noticed within the Bond films.
Refer to the OP if need be.

Please move my post to the suitable thread as I'd be curious to chat to anyone who finds it interesting.

Ah you can read my posts!
I’m not sure where to move your post, or who’ll find it interesting.
    Maybe @007HallY will.

I found it interesting, only because my last name has two consecutive "O"s and I always thought I sounded cool saying "b, r, double-o, k". As an American, that's the only time I do that, however. I think MTM is on to something, that "double-o seven" is uniquely British English.

    Um... ok...

Not sure it's really my area to be honest.

That's interesting, thanks. I'd never quite realised it but I guess it sounds quite unique to some overseas folks whereas it's more or less the natural way to say 007 in the UK (we don't really say 'zero' a lot, and 'nought' has slipped away a bit). I guess its iconic status has meant one doesn't really think about it either way though.

Again nothing to do with the Bond series.
    More of a personal observation.
I don’t care if you want to ignore my posts @mtm
But if you want to remain a part of these forums, I suggest you don’t ignore me.

You need to relax. No one ignored you. You have like a personal problem and are threatening to abuse your power. Not cool. We are literally discussing the Bond series. On a Bond forum. MTM even replied to you directly. You look crazy. I'm taking screenshots in case you try anything against me now. I should also be able to report moderator posts.

Isn't there a general "Bond Questions Thread"? I think mtm's summary "So does ‘double oh seven’ sound quite odd to American ears?" would be ok in the context. We have whole threads about subjects that have much less to do with the franchise.

Yes, please take it up with the international interrnet forum ‘I’m not happy’ council.
They should get back to you shortly.

I merely told @mtm to post in the correct thread. What may I ask does it have to do with you?

If this discussion continues, it shouldn't be in this thread, and it shouldn't just be between us. Have a good one.

I will if I may, purely as an observer. (Thank you Felix)
" But if you want to remain a part of these forums, I suggest you don't ignore me" isn't a good look from a moderator, particularly when you are here to police such comments from others.
    Just some friendly feedback.

At the risk of somehow becoming involved: guys, is a discussion on that level really necessary? I quite frankly don't think so.
