    That's an interesting set of what ifs! I think for all of them you have to factor in NSNA. I guess Brosnan would have been a relative unknown in '83.

    I think all would have struggled under the circumstances, and I think it was wise bringing back Moore to help maximise the success of OP.

    I should revive our What if Thread, some might have new thoughts and ideas.

    But back to this thread, I am not sure the series survives Lazenby followed by Gavin. Can Moore save the series in 1973 after two one-offs? Debatable, does LALD even get made if DAF doesn't prove a hit?

    I am choosing Brolin for OP even though that takes away one of my favourite Moore films. Also, did anyone else notice that some of the beats in that fight scene with Brolin call back to the fight with Che Che in Tracy's hotel room?

    Gavin was never much of an actor, even in classics such as PSYCHO and SPARTACUS, but if you want to get a sense of what he would've been like as Bond, check out the 1968 Italian-French spy thriller OSS 117: DOUBLE AGENT (which co-stars Curd Jurgens and Luciana Paluzzi). Unfortunately, I don't think any version exists with Gavin's voice on the soundtrack, but he looked good and is convincing in the action scenes. I'm certain that Broccoli and Saltzman decided to cast him based on this film.

    Yes, it started in 1982. For some reason I thought its first season was in 1983 (not something I’ve ever watched). So yes, he wouldn’t have been available.

    Through the years the films have had musical acts that were world class. Lets have some fun with the world of music.

    Would you rather catch Louis Armstrong in concert OR Dame Shirley Bassey?

    Old Satchmo was a pro and had a long and storied career. His songbook is deep and one of his last records was All the Time in The World. Soaking in his concert you would be hit with jazz and song standards and of course that rather unique voice.

    OR

    Dame Shirley a dynamo of a performer. She combines a wonderful voice with an enchanting presence. She has a deep song book and would likely feature at least two of her Bond songs in concert.

    Who would you rather listen to in a concert?

    Either Armstrong or Bassey would have been an unforgettable experience. That said, I have seen Dame Shirley Bassey in concert several times - my late mother was a massive fan - and she really delivers the goods. ^:)^

    I am very jealous @Dwayne my Dad was a massive fan but I don't think he ever saw her in person. I love both singers so this is a real tough one for me. I am leaning towards Dame Shirley cause two Bond songs would trump one. But boy tough call.

    I've been a bit cool about Bassey over the years, her voice is a touch strident for my liking, but we went to the 60th anniversary Bond concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2022 and I must admit I was totally blown away when she sang Goldfinger and Diamonds- she was incredible.

    Louis Armstrong was a genuine innovator who personally transformed an entire genre. The chance to be in the presence of such a legend has to be taken, no?
