I've always been slightly hesitant to think that B26 will even definitely be directed by Villeneuve; directors drop out of projects all the time- just the recent Fantastic Four was originally to be directed by Jon Watts, then Matt Shakman took over only because he himself had had a Star Trek movie project fall through. And in the Bonds we've had Roger Michell, Danny Boyle etc. drop out at a similar sort of stage that B26 is nearing now. Stuff will happen, plans will change, it's not uncommon at all.
What you think of new Fantastic Four?

Haven't caught it yet! :D I guess it's probably Disney+ for me at this rate. Did you see it?

Remember when Del Toro was originally supposed to direct An Unexpected Journey and had to leave? The best made plans of mice and men.

Del Toro is a special case. He's notorious for dropping out of projects and then whining about how the producers/studio couldn't meet his terms.

Villeneuve has backed out of a few things, but not at the rate of Del Toro, and certainly not as late in the process.

I think it would take a lot for Villeneuve to drop out of Bond 26, since he's already got no issues with the final cut. I think like Dune, doing a Bond film was always his dream. Plus, so far...on the creative page, he's got no issues with Heyman-Pascal-Amazon.

Yeah you're right, it feels less likely than the other two examples I mentioned, but I won't be 100% confident until nearer the time!

Again, of mice and men. Everything just seems too serene at the moment, everything slotting into place, everyone getting along. It's like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I think it can be fall 2027 provided no delays on Dune 3. It gives Knight a year and change to pen the script and get some castings rolling for cameras to start rolling early 2027

You think cameras will roll early 2027 and the film will premiere in fall? We're not on EON's schedule anymore, it's going to take at least a year from start of filming to release.

It seems the film's release date would be announced, once Bond 7 is unveiled.

I respectfully disagree. Once everything is in place, it'll be wheels on the ground. I mean how long does it take to film? Expect an announcement and press conference in December 2026
