    I genuinely think it's nonsense. Any reasonable judge or even moreso panel, in the home market, would not cede James Bond rights to anyone with no precedent. I think the evidence they presented, some 200+ pages, is probably a fraction of what they could reasonably claim. We're fine.

    But I could delay things until late 2028 or later, right? They still have to go through he process..

    I’m not sure it would stop them using the trademark; as we’ve seen they’re using it all the time.

    Does anyone else feel like with 3 out of the last 4 Bond films being flawed, that if Bond 26 truly gets it right and gets a strong, tight script and vision from the director, it could go down as being a top 6 or even 5 Bond film?

    Don't get me wrong, I'm a Bond junkie and I find loads to enjoy and dissect in even the lesser adventures, but how strong of a script and directorial skill does the film need to vault over the likes of The Man With The Golden Gun or The World Is Not Enough, really?

    I think Bond 26 going down as the best or second best film of the century so far is very possible, again if they have something great up their sleeve (apparently they all seem on the same page, meaning there is obviously something special they have in mind)

    I disagree, you will get The Predator or Alien Romulus level of filmmaking. All Craig Bonds are great, not flawed. Some are more successful than others but each have their moments.

    All Bonds are flawed, even the great ones. There's no such thing as a perfect movie.

    The track record hasn't exactly been great recently, but thatcould play into Amazon's hands in a similar way to Force Awakens being a huge success after the prequels brought everyone's expectations down.

    I can imagine a portion of people on these forums really disliking Bond 26 in all honesty. No matter how successful it is in the wider world or how well made it is.

    Well, we already saw people saying that Bond is dead back in Feb. So yeah, bound to happen.

    Oh yeah, there's nothing worse than being in a fandom when something new is made. Fans hate the thing they're fans of for some reason.

    This, right now, is the best point in B26's existence: it's got great people onboard with it so it has the potential to be a superb Bond movie. The next Bond actor, right now, could be the best one we've ever had. Right now it could have the most Flemingy title we've never thought of before; the score might be an incredible new style good enough to take over from Barry. But as soon as more is announced, those possibilities narrow, more and more people get disappointed as it turns out it won't be the best film ever made, the title will be sort of meh, the new actor looks a bit weird and isn't the exact personification of the Milk Tray Man, I'm not too keen on that location, oh is it about Bond defeating an oligarch again.. hmmm... and then, as you say, when it's released a lot of fans will absolutely hate it. I might be one of them!
    So enjoy it right now, because this might well be as good as the film will ever get, certainly it's the most harmonious we're likely to be on here until the next big announcement! :D

    Yeah, that’s the nature of it! It could well be that successful, highly regarded blockbuster of the decade and a portion of fans would still dislike it for whatever reasons - the sort of SF phenomenon. And once we get things like the new actor, a logline, title etc I’m sure some will have trepidations.

    Don’t get me wrong, it’s ideal that as many people as possible like the film. For Bond’s sake I hope it’s successful. But I think it’s near impossible for any film to reach the height of best film of the century so far. It could well be considered one of the better Bond movies out of the gate, but as I said that’s no guarantee it won’t have its controversies with fans! As we know sometimes Bond films - or films in general - take a bit longer to find their audiences/gain that reputation.

    For me Romulus one of the best in the Alien series.

    This is probably the most excited I've been about the Bond movies since Craig was hired and CASINO ROYALE went into production. With new people in charge and the additions of Villeneuve and Knight, I think we're seeing the kind of shakeup that this series needed pre-NTTD.

    I can see how it could be but, after a decade-plus of shared universes and multiverses, I think audiences are sophisticated enough to understand and accept a former Bond paying homage to the series in another role. If it were Daniel Craig returning as the villain then I would agree. But time has passed. After all the marketing and anticipation of a new Bond, few are going to be thrown for a loop if Brosnan appears in Bond 26 as someone other than Bond.

    I think it's best not to be reminded of any previous Bond actor. At worst you risk Brosnan outshining the new Bond just by having him there.
