Bullets Speak Louder Than Words

Ah, the things you stumble across on a sleepless night.

It started with coming across where Rich Douglas has posted his score for the fan film project first announced in 2004.

From there, a little bit of Googling gave me postings on another forum where Douglas discussed the then in-progress score.

https://debrief.commanderbond.net/topic/11357-bullets-speak-louder-than-words-main-title-preview/

Which, in turn, took me to the Wayback Machine and the original announcement in 2003, complete with poster image.

All of which got me wondering, as someone involved with Bond fan films at the time (including my ultimately in producer efforts to adapt the Moonraker novel into one, what happened to the project back in the day? Anyone know more details beyond these forum postings? I tried using the search engine on here but it’s not the most reliable thing so apologies in advance if I’m covering old ground.

@timdalton007, there are other people here that could explain this better than me, particularly long time mods like @DarthDimi, but this current site was actually not the original one from way back in the day. If I remember right, there was a big issue with the old site that caused a lot of the posts/threads to get lost one day (not sure what the inciting incident was, as this was over a decade ago), and this site was a big reset to that old forum space that a lot of the veteran members flocked over to to try and start it all again. So if information about this fan project existed on the old MI6, I would assume it ended up getting lost along with everything else long ago.

Hm, yes, sadly, a lot of the old content was lost.

The MI6 forums pre-2011 was known as "Keeping the British End Up" and a lot of its content was lost when MI6 transferred over to its current web address. I think CNB took over the old MI6 address which caused a lot of confusion at the time.

Rich Douglas's description in the video shows that the "Bullets Speak Louder Than Words" project likely never came to fruition.
Originally released in 2004, this is my complete 50 minute score for a James Bond 007 film or video game from the Pierce Brosnan era (late '90s / early 2000s) that doesn't exist.

To add to the above, I was perusing the Bond music threads archive over at CommanderBond.net, and I ran into this 2007 thread:

    I'll quote from it.

Rich, whatever happened to the fan made movie BSLTW? I remember looking forward to that a few years back.
BSLTW... like 99.9% of the other fan films, imploded years ago and was shut down unfortunately. It had promise, but just didn't come together.

    And from this thread...

    https://debrief.commanderbond.net/topic/12623-bsltw-score-volume-1-is-up/page-1.html

...we can gather that the website for the film was located at:
    http://www.007gaming.com/bsltw/

A couple of snapshots from the Internet Archive:

    https://web.archive.org/web/20031022005341/http://www.007gaming.com/bsltw/

I think you need some kind of Adobe Flash replacement to visualize them correctly.

Back in the day, the three big Bond forums all posted genuine leaked pages from the script to Die Another Day before the film was released. This (understandably) lead to animosity from Eon, who got very legal about the use of any sort of copyrighted imagery from the film series, which they had previously turned a blind eye to. I don't know if that is the same incident, but you can see other sites like AJB and CBN had to go offline for a while around that time.

The DAD script leaks were before my time on the forum, so I can't speak for them. But KTBEU was shut down in 2011. The DAD leaks and the old forum shutdown weren't connected.
