Isn't it time the 'who should/could be a Bond actor?' thread was reopened? What's taking so long??? Closed because of a couple of members. Let's get it going again. It has been a few weeks now.

    No.

That's the attitude I like to see! The legendary @Dragonpol, ladies and gentlemen.

Once we've ironed out how the thread will be handled moving forward, we'll have it reopened, hopefully by the end of this weekend, if not today.

Why no? You could just not frequent it if not interested.

Sorry for being so blunt but those highly popular threads like that on interminable matters often end in aggravation for members. I hope cooler heads will prevail once it's reopened again. :)

I just thought it's rather interminable and seems to create heated arguments. I prefer to discuss things that are more concrete and not shifting sands. Others may take a contrary view, and they're entitled to that.

    DID YOU KNOW?
The "Who should/could be a Bond actor?" is one of the bottom 5 MI6 Community threads in my opinion.

    DID YOU KNOW?
The other MI6 Community threads listed in my bottom 5 are also "Who should/could be a Bond actor?".

We closed it very quickly when accusations of racism and "wokeness" were thrown around like confetti at a wedding. We will reopen the thread, and then we'll close the thread again as soon as the old fights have resumed. And I am sure they will. It's a stupid thread with nothing but hope, speculation and wishful thinking. We'll allow it, but only for as long as a silly whocanbebond fantasizing session doesn't result in another civil war.

I want to make this hard for you guys 😁:

Think of a Bond film where Bond doesn't drink (or ordered a drink)

In terms of (actual) actors themselves:

    Sean Connery:

    Other Bond Actors:
George Lazenby - Debatable (a brawler vs. a Martial Artist/Karate)
    Roger Moore - Win
    Timothy Dalton - Win
    Pierce Brosnan - Win
    Daniel Craig - Debatable

    George Lazenby

    Other Bond Actors:
Sean Connery - Debatable (a brawler vs. A Martial Artist/Karate)
    Roger Moore - Win
Timothy Dalton - Debatable (does Dalton knows Martial Arts or Karate?)
    Pierce Brosnan - Win
    Daniel Craig - Debatable

    Roger Moore

    Other Bond Actors:
    Sean Connery - Lose
    George Lazenby - Lose
    Timothy Dalton - Lose
    Pierce Brosnan - Debatable
    Daniel Craig - Lose

    Timothy Dalton

    Other Bond Actors

George Lazenby - Debatable (If Dalton could do Martial Arts or Karate?)
    Roger Moore - Win
    Pierce Brosnan - Win
    Daniel Craig - Lose

    James Bond vs other spies:

    James Bond:

    Other spies:
George Smiley - Debatable (Smiley could setup Bond using his intelligence a la Kronsteen in FRWL).
Ethan Hunt - Lose (Teamwork, Bond is a loner, Hunt and his team could team up against Bond using their different resources).
Jason Bourne - Lose (Physical Combat)

    George Smiley

    Other spies:
James Bond - Debatable (Bond could use his gadgets and physicality to beat Smiley)
Ethan Hunt - Lose (Teamwork, gadgets and physicality)
Jason Bourne - Lose (Physical Combat)

    Ethan Hunt

    Other spies:
George Smiley - Win (Technology, wits and teamwork)
    James Bond - Win (Teamwork)
Jason Bourne - Lose (Physical Combat and survival or street smart skills)

    Jason Bourne

    Other spies:
    James Bond - Win
    George Smiley - Win
    Ethan Hunt - Win

He would break them all in a physical combat and street smart skills.

That image brings me back to VERY UNRELATED films I admire. Didn't realize at the time I was enjoying so many enduring movies.

Obviously Birdy directed by Alan Parker had some effect on me.

    And moreso Terry Gilliam's Brazil.
