Expect it or not, it's gonna happen anyway. That's the horrifying beauty of Bethesda!

And it's infinitely worse with Fallout 76 since it's always online. That game had so much promise but ended up a buggy wasteland (no pun intended).

And now they have Indiana Jones to their name.

I guess I've only played the Elder Scrolls stuff, but Bethesda games still seem like net positives to me. Maybe I'd feel differently if I was a Fallout fan. I'm glad Xbox has 'em.

Fallout 76 should be a guide for game developers, on what not to do when making/launching a game. GAME here in the UK, were nearly giving it away when I got it. They were selling it for something ridiculous like £6 (and that was for new sealed copies, not pre-owned). I don't remember running into any issues that I had seen before buying it, but jesus... playing it felt like crawling through syrup. I'm not a fan of MMORPGs, with some of their mechanics that just feel cheap. It was the same with Elder Scrolls Online. My biggest issue with ESO, was that f you pulled an enemy too far, they'd rubber band back to their start point, refilling their health? Oh come on, really???? I love Skyrim though, even with all of the memes that it spawned. It's one of my favourite RPGs.

That's the thing: their games can be very solid and grandiose at the end of the day, once you've gotten through years and years of patches (and sometimes, even that isn't enough, as is the case for FO76 or some other Fallout titles with bugs that never get fixed).

I've been going through Skyrim again, this time Survival Mode on the PS5 edition with all the Creation Club content, and despite it being my 3rd or 4th time through the game in full, it's like a whole new experience now that I can't fast travel, I have to eat and sleep regularly, etc. I'd say this was their strongest launch title, in terms of playability, but even today, it still has wonky glitches or issues and still requires constant saving to avoid quests that inevitably break on you.

I'm not sure why but I've always felt their Fallout titles are way buggier than the Elder Scrolls series. Perhaps it's the gun/explosive combat vs. simple melee and magic but they're almost always a gamble when purchasing day one.

I'll be eager to see how Starfield lands for them. I won't get to play it, since I'm on the PS5, but it sounds like it would've been the next Cyberpunk 2077 had they kept their earlier date. It seems very ambitious for them, I can't imagine it'll be a smooth launch experience (and same inevitably goes for Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 but I'd love to be wrong.)

I'll likely try Starfield out day one so I'll let you know how it goes.

In some Elden Ring news: The lastest patch (1.07) contains data for maps that don't yet exist. DLC soon? Fingers crossed!

Highly entertaining Elden Ring playthrough video (the music is a real standout):

Apologies, I know it's all I talk about. But it's the only game I play right now. :(

You're in for a real treat when you do. I'm itching for the DLC to be announced so I can return to it once more.

As for me, slowly but surely working my way through Survival Mode on Skyrim still and loving every minute of it. I'm also thinking about picking up GTA IV (my all-time favorite game) on Steam sometime soon. $20 for the full game and all DLC, plus it has way better framerate and resolution than the wonky console editions I've played in the past? Sign me up.

It could be a while yet, before I get to it. As soon as I finish my playthough of Fallout 4, and Generation Zero, whichever one first, I will be jumping into Bloodborne. I've put it off for 2-3 years. :))

I’m of course tempted to try some other Fromsoft games, I’m wondering though if I should do the Dark Souls trilogy before Bloodborne…

Leaks suggest the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 is coming December 9th. I'm so excited.

    Dirt-Rally-2.0-DLC-True-Image.jpg

    project_cars_lykan_2.jpg

STEAM are having a Driving Sim sale currently so I bought these two games extremely cheap, I already have both of them on Xbox Game Pass though I wanted the games long term. Dirt Rally 2.0 is fantastic, in a short time I have grown to love the more hardcore sim racing games.

    GeForce_NOW_Key_Visual.jpg

Just downloading Geforce Now onto my PC initially then will try to access Steam games through it on my Xbox. Has anyone used the cloud gaming service?

Edited: Hmm think I better do more research before linking any accounts, very mixed reviews.

    Ghost Recon Breakpoint
11hrs in to my 2nd playthrough. I said that I wouldn't, but I made one change. To bring my character into line with the SBS, I swapped my MP5 SMG to a M4A1 Assault Rifle. I believe the M4A1 is the closest to the L119A1 used in real life. Naturally, I made a few tweaks to the M4A1 (shortened the barrel and added a suppressor).

Still not sniping though. It's not hard, I just have to play a little differently.

Had the money to spare so picked up GTA IV: The Complete Edition on Steam and the quality difference from those Xbox 360 days 'til now, on a gaming PC, is night and day. I love how crisp and clean it all looks while still retaining the same atmosphere and style (unlike what happened with the originals vs. the mobile ports in the new GTA Trilogy release). Some pop-in issues occasionally but the frame rate improvements and graphical enhancements are more than worth it - and for $20? What a steal.

Nice... GTA4 is a classic for sure. I have a decade old gaming computer that I had built for StarCraft 2, and to it's credit, still runs it on Extreme; doesn't do much else though unfortunately in the way of new games. I'd like to cash in my desktop and Microsoft Surface Pro both for a high-end gaming laptop like something from Razer... I don't do a ton of gaming but it would be nice to have everything in one machine.

I'd say it's my favorite game of all time, though The Witcher 3 is a close runner-up.

I'd also say you should give an upgrade a shot, but despite my decades of gaming, I'm incredibly brand new to PC gaming. I do know that Steam is a real treasure and I see tons of classics and old favorites on there that I'm itching to try out.

Same here really, been a Nintendo/Xbox guy my whole gaming life, and my PC Gaming experiences have been strictly RTS, where a keyboard and mouse is a necessity. But my rig can’t run the latest games like Age of Empires 4… we’ll see if I’m able to upgrade sometime soon.

If money weren't an issue, I'd love to obtain a massive gaming PC that could just run whatever, so I could essentially have an all-in-one entertainment device. Definitely a dream of mine if I start elevating income. I own a ton of games through Steam I can't even run haha. When I tried booting up RE2 remake on my last PC, half of it literally couldn't even render the images on the lowest settings, so it was half pixelly/black XD that Silent Hill 2 remake that looks amazing requires super high specs too...

The issue with PC Gaming for me is that there are people who will spend thousands and thousands of dollars making insane gaming rigs, and then game companies tailor to these kinds of rigs so they can promote their amazing graphics and high frame rates, HDR, ray tracing, etc. If you don’t have an incredible gaming rig it feels like you kind of get left behind.

Indeed. Just too much money for my blood as is. Honestly though, I have so many games I can play I just haven't yet as well; the Switch is the only current-gen console I own, and I literally have like 50 something games for it which to me is nuts. Never collected so much for one system before. The only thing more important than money is time, and there's not near enough of it for all there is to play when one works full time XD

Here’s to hoping GTA 4 is remastered for next year.

Fingers crossed that we get something GTA 4 related, for modern consoles.

:O didn't even know there were that many games for Switch! I had one and sold it, but I do miss it. Might have to pick another one up sometime given the games that are coming out for it in the next year or so.

It was in the works but those plans were killed off some months back, sadly.

I recently bought a "used" GTX 1080 8Gb 16Gb RAM 500Gb NVME SSD Intel Core i5-8600 ( win 11 upgradable as well ) which plays 4k games at max graphics easily for $700 aud on ebay.

It boots up in seconds and is a massive improvement on my i7 2600 gtx950 2gb slug box.

Just had a quick look at GTA IV on STEAM it is tempting, its one of my favorites from the series I don't think I have my Xbox 360 copy if I do its in storage.

I recently played a bit of San Andreas on PC its working much better on Windows 11 for some reason it was really glitchy on Windows 10. San Andreas still stands up well, I loved that game when it was released.
