That’s the problem with Snyder’s films, they took themselves so deadly seriously that they became a bigger parody than the MCU films.

    And then we got this…

    batman-why-did-you-say-that-name.gif

Woof! When audiences began laughing at the Martha scene I knew this DCEU was crashing and burning.

I still think the idea behind this scene is a really strong one. Batman finds the human side of Supes thus rediscovers the human side of himself that he thought lost. Really nice.

But yes, the execution is unfortunately very clumsy. And that's all on Snyder, because the performances are pretty good - Affleck especially conveys a lot.

Spider Man NWH has been just woke garbage.
    You prefer asleep garbage?

Sorry, I just hate the term 'woke'. It's like you need to wake up from a dream. I don't know about you, but my dreams are fun.

Nobody actually uses the term “woke” these days aside from disgruntled conservatives railing against “the agenda”.

Considering that just about every directors cut of Snyders has higher critical acclaim than the theatrical cuts, and the fact that the entire internet rallied around him to convince a major studio conglomerate to give him 70 million to finish his cut of JL...

Yeah I’d you’re in the minority on that one.

Also,Iv never seen a major movie director who is so appreciative and gracious with his fans. When ZSJL was released ,he was EVERYWHERE on YouTube, giving interviews to those who suppported him and still does.

If Snyder’s films were as popular as his fans claim then we’d have seen #RestoreTheSnyderVerse truly at play. But that’s not the reality, because they don’t have a big appeal beyond Snyder’s fanbase. ZSJL was basically a win-win because they only needed to spend $70m finishing a movie that was already shot and in the can, and use it to prop up their subscription service, and the fanbase finally get the movie they demanded.

Just wondering why this thread is called Superman:The Man Of Tomorrow? There is no movie being prepped with this title right?

It's become a reference from a couple sources dating to the 1990s and 2020.

I love the implication that the new bosses at WB are forcing Abrams to not reboot. Cavill deserved a much better run than he got and is still primed to play the role for at least the rest of the decade should he desire.

I think Cavill deserves another crack at the character, with a new director and writers who manages to bridge Snyder's version of the character with the more stereotypical Superman that people instantly think of in a way that makes sense. I hope he comes back. I like him in the part.

I think with all the fan-pleasing stuff we’ve seen on Spider Man and the like, it would be very surprising if Cavill didn’t come back in a new one. I don’t think he’s amazing at it, but he’s perfectly fine, and he has potential beyond a Snyder version as you say.

Mabey Cary Fukunaga should direct a Superman movie. Inbetween bosses of MGM working for Warner , there also can correct a mistake and can release in The Netherlands/Belgium that 8 Disc Bluray set with Dutch subs !!

DC looks to be on the rise. The news of Gunn being co-CEO with an eye on the creative strikes me as a good hire. I think coaxing Cavill back was smart and I would like to see his Superman under someone else's direction. I think he has it in him to do what Reeve did, bring humanity to the role and give his character some depth.

I am not sure if a Black Adam V Superman movie gets me all excited, but just to see Henry with the cape again gave me hope for the future of the Superman franchise!
  • Great. Now they just need to give us a solo Batfleck film and a solo Keaton film.

I have read that Joe Shuster based Superman s look on Hal Foster s Tarzan.

Just found these canvasses in a charity shop £3 each, in pristine condition.

    Bargain!
  • Brandon Routh deserved another shot. He was excellent. Cavill is pretty good but a little wooden at times.

That 2001 issue came out as an album here in Norway in the late 70s. I still have it.

It’s pretty unfortunate that Routh never took off. I remember when I saw SCOTT PILGRIM I thought he was actually really funny to watch and wish the filmmakers for SR tapped more into that sensibility. He’s way too dour in the film, but not really his fault for what he had to work with.
