I think in terms of prestige, a lead role surpasses a repeat background utility character role. She's worthy of a lead, and in her OWN films, for that matter, not playing 2nd fiddle to Bond.
I can see that. I think the issue there though is I still can't see the franchise trying to branch off into spin-offs so therefore the best roles to keep an actor in the franchise is those MI6 regulars, and if done right she could still make enough of an impression.

Speaking of Anyas, I want Anya Taylor-Joy as a Bond girl <3

    White Leiter next time around.

This is getting tiring @MSL49 ... Either you think you're being funny (you're not), or; you have serious issues.

Stop casting people just because they are black.

Pretty obvious something is wrong. You are specifically rooting for a white Moneypenny and Leiter and insist the last ones were cast just for their skin color. You’re doing the very same with another skin color.

By the principles I outlined before, it is obvious that Jeffrey Wright shouldn't play Leiter any more, though I liked him in that role. IIRC, he was the only one to play Leiter more than one except David Hedison. Changing Leiters were the rule from 1962 through 1987. before someone invented Jack Wade in 1995. Fleming probably thought of a white Leiter, with a German, probably German-Jewish immigration background, based on the family name he gave him. But that doesn't mean his family lineage is relevant for the role.

Introducing a new Leiter with each future film may actually tie the new series more to the classics than just showcasing any old stuff from the 60s.

Moneypenny - Anya Chalotra (The Witcher)
So to move away from that, I want to just touch on Anya again. Not only do I think she's a good actress, even if I've only seen her in The Witcher, she comes across to me as an actress who would be wasted on the Bond girl role. I also feel, depending on who they cast, she'd have great chemistry with a new James Bond as Moneypenny.

Anyway, any The Witcher fans in the discussion? :)

Yes, I've enjoyed the series, and I'm a fan of The Witcher III game. In fact I think they should totally ditch Bond playing Baccarat (or poker) and instead have him play Gwent. Much more visually exciting! That Scorch card is a real ****er.

It would be a cool updating of the bridge game in MR.

always thought Matthew McCoughnney would make a good Leiter, with the Texas vibe and all.

Problem with McCoughnney is that he'd probably have to basically become Bond's partner throughout the whole film for EON to get their moneys worth.

EON can be original with their casting. McConaughey is too big named, too old to start as Felix Leiter and honestly not much of an actor. I say go for someone lesser known, preferably a character actor who will commit to a multi movie contract.

Yeah, he would've been great casting for Felix Leiter. A real missed opportunity that one.
Would've worked great for the Craig films, though I love what Jeffrey Wright brought.

I think Aaron Eckhart would make a damn solid Felix. He's known but not so known that he'd be super expensive and would steal the spotlight away from Bond.

    Alright, alright, aright.

You oughta ditch the geeks like JohnTerry you have playing Leiter and come along with us, but that's alright. We'll worry about that later.

There's a new fiesta in the making AS WE SPEAK, it's over at the Texas Hold em table. Full Vespers, everyone's gonna be there. You should go.

I'm not a fan per se, but I suggested an actor from The Witcher as a possible Bond. And no, I'm not talking of Turner.

I'm still hopping to see Timothy Dalton coming back in the saga, as M. He would be perfect.

If they don't figure out a way to get her, Vanessa Kirby and/or Florence Pugh into at least one of these films in the next 30 years, I don't know what they are doing.

A lot of the general public struggled with the 'James Bond will Return' at the end of NTTD how are they going to cope with Dalton playing M?! James Bond is M!!!

    James Bond will Return… … …as M!
And the main character of the next movie is someone completely different.

This will never, ever happen, but it would be fun to see some fan‘s minds melt when they finally get Dalton back, but the prize is having Lashana Lynch or someone similar take on the lead role.

Would the public really struggle with Dalton as M, though? As far as the general public is concerned, Bond is Connery, Moore, Bronson and Craig. If any Bonds could get away with coming back as M, and not be as distracting, it would be Dalton (and Lazenby).

Tbh, I doubt most of the general public even sat through the credits to that point - first time I saw NTTD, there was only me and three others left in there when 'James Bond Will Return' appeared on screen. Yes, I counted!

I love Dalton to pieces but I don't want him as M. I never liked the idea of bringing in actors who have played Bond in the past on a new film in the series. For one thing, it'd only fuel the whole 'James Bond is a codename' nonsense (like how Tomahori wanted to bring Connery back as a retired Bond to have a pow wow with Brosnan's Bond. As if DAD isn't stupid enough). The other thing is that Dalton or whomever as M would take some of the spotlight away from the new Bond actor in his first outing (for us Bond fans anyway; most of the general movie going public sadly probably wouldn't have any idea who Dalton is). Just let's stick with a new actor or actress as M. Give them their shot, yes?

Most people leave before the end of the credits, for any and all movies.
