Glad at least someone give it a higher rating than me @DarthDimi ;)

With that being said, this is our number 20:

    SPECTRE
    Main title sequence designed by
    DANIEL KLEINMAN

    spectre_c.jpg?k=41ac82a3a6

The lowest-ranked of the Kleinman titles, SP was represented in four top 10’s: once as #5, thrice as #6 and once as #7.

Four bottom 5’s didn’t do it any favours though, it came in 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th, each on one occasion.

In total SP’s main title sequence received 70 points.

I put it at #5. I think it's a work of art. Kleinman really put a lot of work into it. The titles arguably tell a more sinister Spectre story than the film itself. The 'Cthulhu' images (oh well, "giant octopus") are amazing. And, as was to be expected from Kleinman, the titles resonate really well with the song itself. I think this title sequence is brilliant.

Yeah, I had it at six and I agree with all this. Like the film itself, it was a grower for me--the stoic, shirtless Craig and the tentacles everywhere certainly were weird upon first viewing...!

A person in my theatre yelled, "Is this a tentacle porno?". People laughed.

25th for me. In retrospect, I'm happy they went with the horribly kitschy "Writing's On The Wall" as it fits this particular title sequence much better than the majestic and sophisitcated Radiohead theme.

26th for me, only better than the non-title sequence that is NSNA. I just don't care for a lot of the imagery on display, and even with that awfully whiny song muted, it's still a really weak aspect of a really weak film.

I had it at 17th. Take out the song, and the titles actually work quite well.
Strangely all of Craig’s title sequences have been rather good. Aside from QOS (for me) and even that’s not really terrible.

16 for me! Bit surprised it finished this low! I love a lot of the images in it, particularly the smoking women shot, and the Octopus wrapping itself around the gun but, like SF, I think its overcooked, too much going on, and oh so dark. Do dislike the opening shot of a shirtless Craig, he looks like he's auditioning for Doc Savage!!

#5 vs. #26. Time to sharpen my knife, good sir!

I think it's brilliant, and at one point I had it as high as #2. Its drop to #6 isn't really a knock against it for me. I think the song is vastly improved when paired with this sequence.

#6 here too. Brillant photography, I like the gloomy atmosphere. +Nice inclusion of the previous movies.

I had SP at #19. I have a surprisingly similar ranking so far compared to the revealed sequences.
The octopus wrapping around the gun is cool.

I had it at 22. Visually it is not that bad but it incorporates what is wrong with the film by refering too much the earlier Craig films. The tentacles moving around a half naked Daniel Craig symbolising the personal relation between Bond and Blofeld also don't do it any favour. Had Spectre been a better film I could certainly enjoy the titles much more.

I had it a number 23. I must admit, my dislike of the song and my disappointment in the film may have biased my ranking of SP’s title sequence. Sorry about that.

Lowest ranked of the Kleinmen, but I still like it.
  • Not even my lowest of Kleinman's. Second lowest. I would have had this one a bit higher personally. The octopus motif was incorporated very well by Kleinman here, and one of the coolest shots, all those eyes looking out at the same time, isn't even represented above. The insistence on revisiting Vesper, M, and Le Chiffre pulls this one down a bit, but it's still very solid work.

I had it at 7, another top 10 entry of mine that ends up pretty low.

Another thing I like about this one is that it doesn't have any of the super-direct, corny symbolism Kleinman occasionally indulges in. Like showing a literal golden eye. (:|

At least there's a theme in this sequence. Binder often just pasted random images together. And while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I prefer something with more, shall well say, coherence.

    Our number 19:

    TOMORROW NEVER DIES
    Main title sequence designed by
    DANIEL KLEINMAN

    tnd_c.jpg?k=6a81c17cbf

Another Kleinman, this time one from the Brosnan years. With 12 participants ranking it between #15 and #18, it was bound to end up somewhere in the middle.

However, one member gave it the bronze medal, while another one ranked it 9th. At the other side of the spectrum, one bottom 5 was noted, which was a 24th place.

The main title sequence of TND gathered 75 points in total.

Like it a lot. One of the sexiest, I think.

It's sexy indeed but I don't like the colour schemes very much. I still had it at 16, though, because Kleinman made it thematically consistent with the film, which I always prefer.

15th for me. Kleinmann did a fine Job. The Film does not offer a lot to work with since it is a rather generic action film.

My 20th. Not super attractive colors, and the circuitboard imagery seems to belong to what the movie should have been about, not what it is about.

15 for me too! Its still pretty good from Kleinman. Like the use of X-ray and the circuitry women, but loses its way towards the end and poor Roger Spottiswoodes name doesn't get to be part of it!
Basically this and Vincent Schiavelli are the only good things about this film!!

I think it’s okay, though I love the part where the necklace transforms in diamonds circulating around the world which ends in that woman jumping off of one of these diamonds, diving into the depth. That was awesome I think.

Always found it hard to read some of the credits though, it’s not always superclear.

I remember from the book Some Kind of Hero that Roger Spottiswoode really annoyed Kleinman for some reason, and that's why his name appeared over pure black.

15 for me, as well! I can agree with this assessment, particularly the X-ray imagery and all the computer bits throughout. It has a nice feel of the "future" and tech for a late '90s film.
  • Wow, well, I would have had this one much higher of course as I was the lone bronze. Perhaps this being my first in theaters simply left an indelible mark on my mind, but I feel like this was simply Kleinman in his artistic prime. The x-ray imagery, the circuitry, the swan dive from a necklace of diamond satellites. Apart from the two I have higher, I feel it doesn't get much more epic or more imaginative than this.
