  • Impressive.

Sanchez has to be number 1, because he was so charming and had the best lines - loved him. Grant no .2

I think King and Goldfinger should be next followed by Orlov.

    That's my top 5. I can't do 22.

@forgotmyusername: It is extremely difficult, and it took me a few minutes of painstaking thought process! Hahaha. I agree about Sanchez being in the top five; he is easily the greatest thing about LTK along with Timothy.

@CraigMooreOHMSS: Seems like our top ten is very similiar; I appluad you, sir! However, I am quite curious about the positions of Hugo Drax, Gustav Graves, and Brad Whitaker. The first two are much lower on my list and the last is higher on mine. Also, Kamal Khan at 17? Not criticizing in the least, just wondering!

Well. The one thing I will say about Graves is that while he was a totally ridiculous character and was too campy, he entertained me enough not to be the worst Bond villain. Drax deserved to be in a better film, he had some genuinely good moments and lines. Whitaker always annoyed me, but even apart from that, he didn't really have enough screentime to make an impact.

Kamal Khan never really did it for me. He was sneaky and a bit of a creep alright, but I personally don't find him very memorable. He only had one or two good lines. He just didn't really do it for me :)

All right, all right, I can dig that! Haha. I always liked Kamal Khan; it was Orlov that never did it for me. He was much too over the top and didn't have barely any interaction with 007 to matter that much. He also annoys me greatly in that Soviet Union meeting scene.

I cannot rank all 22 I can only do the top (one or two) and the bottom (one or two)
    Top
Auric Goldfinger--he really set the standard for Bond villians.
    Ernst Stavro Blofelf from OHMSS

    Bottom Feeders:
Georgie Koskov was to much of a bon vivant and likable. Not traits I want in Bond villians.
Ernst Stavro Blofeld from DAF way too charming to be evil and he seemed kinda "sissy"

Octopussy was a film that really didn't have one lead villain for me. Nobody stands out very much. It's the first Moore entry that feels like Bond is taking on a 'evil syndicat' rather than one bad guy. I always liked it, and it works rather well, but there's actually so many villains in it when you think about it, and none of them really elevate themselves above the others.

This all sounds vaguely familiar and I wouldn't even know how (it could be tricky) to put an order of Top 20 + main bad guys, do I have a favorite one even who was that overly bad than anyone below them?

I'll have a go, but this is only a brief outlining, I'd probably re-order by Tuesday next week

    #1 Francisco Scaramanga
    #2 Dr Julius No
    #3 Mr Big (Doctor Kananga)
    #4 Franz Sanchez
    #5 Kamal Khan
#6 who was main villain in FRWL, can I say Donald Grant, I thought Shaw did a fine job
    #7 Hugo Drax
    #8 Blofeld 1969 (Telly Savalas)
    #9 Largo (Thunderball)
    #10 Blofeld 1967 (Donald Pleasance)
    #11 Alec Trevelyan
    #12 Stromberg
    #13 Max Zorin
    #14 Goldfinger
    #15 Blofeld 1971 (Charles Gray)
    #16 Brad Whitaker
    #17 Gustav Graves
    #18 Aris Kristatos
    #19 LeChiffre
    #20 Renard

    I'm content enough with that

Yeah, I know what you're saying. That tends to happen in the the Bond movies with more than one main villain, like FRWL, OP, TLD, and TWINE. It is hard to determine which is the actual leader; only for FRWL and TWINE could I determine which is the leader. In these cases, Rosa Klebb and Elektra King are who I consider the main villain. For OP and TLD, it's a draw, I could never figure it out!

Not sure about all of them but my top 10

    1. Sanchez
    2. Blofeld
    3. Trevelayn
    4. Goldfinger
    5. Stromberg
    6. Scaramanga
    8. Largo
    9. Elektra
    10. Zorin
  • I'll just do my top ten for now.
    1. Red Grant- He may be more of a henchman, but Robert Shaw is amazing in the movie. I think it is the best time where a villian was Bond's absoluete equal (maybe even better than Bond.)
    2. Scaramanga- Chirstopher Lee shows why he is beloved by many. He makes the climax so much more interesting with his propsal to Bond beforehand.
    3. Sanchez- Good to see a villian who is consumed by something more than power, in this case loyalty.
    4. Blofeld, mainly because of Telly Slavas- I think OHMSS perfected Blofeld. I just love how Bond acts exactly what Blofeld's plan is, and he calmly states how that will remain his business.
    5. Hugo Drax- Not sure why.

@licensetoforum: I've always found Hugo Drax to be a horribly boring main villain. Sure, I know that Michael Lonsdale might have been shooting for a more low-key performance, rather than hamming it up like Gray's Blofeld or Frobe's Goldfinger, but he really doesn't seem threatening in the least. That's one of my qualms about Moonraker; Drax just simply doesn't cut it with me.

    LeChiffre #2 ?!, and Greene #8 ?!, (out of a list of 20 + best main villains)

I was just surprised above all else, I should elaborate, that I found LeChiffre something between invisible and non existent, his main distinguishing characteristic perhaps was a weeping blood clot, he hardly ever raised his voice, and had a minor tantrum at the casino tables when Bond ordered a fancy drink

I think what it is, was the genitals sequence on the boat that people remember, but I was looking away kind of embarrassed rather than feel threatened or intimidated by the LeChiffre character, think he was one of the worst Bond adversaries ever, but to each their own, I was just a bit bemused maybe

I think the villains have gotten progressively worse since '74. Drax was the last great villain, and even he was a bit watered down version of what came before.
