Quick Big Mi6 Title Sequence Ranking Game

  • The song plays a part in the enjoyment of the total package, but some my least favourite title sequences contain some of my favourite songs, and vice versa, so obviously not a huge factor.

I also took into account how well the visuals work with the songs (the title sequences are made specifically to work with them after all). Even considering how the music factors in, my ranking of the titles looks pretty different from that of the songs. One of my top 5 songs appears in one of my bottom 5 title sequences, and my #1 title sequence features my #11 song. The music plays a role here but only concerning what the visuals do with the music.

I finally sent my list. I definitely prefer the brighter colours in the Kleinman sequences to the almost similarly dark Binder ones...

Right folks, 13 participants so far. Still far away from our 20+ participants of the last few games. Keep sending them in :)

I'm going to keep this one open for a few days, I am hoping four or five participants will still join in, which would bring the total up to 19 or 20 participants.

I hesitated for a long time, but in the end it was surprisingly easier than expected to rank them without the accompanying music. NSNA didn't make last place, purely for nostalgia reasons.

That's what initially put me off from ranking them but I found it to be very easy as well once I muted the videos and graded them solely on the title sequence itself.

Okay fellas, we’re almost there. I finished counting, just waiting for two participants who forgot one or two non-EON entries to make the necessary adjustments and we can get cracking with this one.

    See you soon!

I figured it was taking some extra work but I was getting worried it had already started and I was somehow missing the thread this whole time.

We’re finally set to go, and I’ll just dive right into it. Our countdown starts, almost by tradition now, with:

    NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN
    Main title sequence designed by
    UNKNOWN

    nsna-ik-02.jpg

Not sure who designed the 007 screen that starts off the film (if anyone does, please enlighten me), but battling it out against proper title sequences, it’s pretty obvious this one had to come in last.

Setting a pretty subpar standard even for unofficial 007 outings, NSNA escaped the bottom 5 on only one occasion. Indeed, one member awarded it the 22nd spot.

Two 25th places were noted, and no less than 14 last places were given to NSNA’s main titles. With 17 participants in total, NSNA managed to escape a bottom finish on only three occasions.

In total the main title sequence of NSNA collected 20 points.

I would've been surprised if anything else took last place here. It's a big nothing-burger as far as title sequences go, which is a shame because the PTS itself is actually really entertaining (despite how implausible it is).

Yes, its pretty poor that they didnt attempt something along the lines of the official series!
Writers Dick Clement and Ian LaFrenais claimed in an interview that the opening sequence was expected to be a Pre titles set piece, and it was a last minute decision to run the titles over it, obviously it was down to keep the running time in check!

I remember seeing NSNA the weekend that it opened back in 1983 and being momentary confused…..
    The-Fly-1024x438.png
    =))

While there were – undoubtedly – legal concerns which limited the scope of NSNA’s title sequence, even the numerous Bond spoofs from the 1960’s managed to do better than this.
    Lame indeed.

If I were to give NSNA's title sequence a letter grade, I'd go with B+ for Bad Plus Terrible.
