I'd completely forgotten that LW2 ends with a George Harrison song. That seems mad...

Lethal Weapon doesn't exactly align with his worldview! :D
What? Harrison & Riggs want the same thing- world peace! ;)

True! :)) They just try to bring it about in slightly different ways :D

Mel is going to direct LW5...

Here's hoping it actually gets made. I like these movies.

Gibson changed his teeth, now his face looks a bit different.

Very excited for this one. Always loved these films. Seen each film in the cinema.

LW4 was underrated and ended on a high note. Mel is a good director but I'm wary about this. So much time has passed since 4 and with Donner dead it might feel very remote from the others. Hopefully Mel will bring Shane Black back in to write the script.

They're saying the new one is being developed for HBO Max. I would love to see it in the cinema but I don't know what's going to happen.

I think the person who will actually direct these films is Mic Rodgers.
Mel would lay the groundwork and be credited as director but my buddy Mic would take over from there (he was second unit from the second one on, I think).

Why? Glover is 75. Born in 1946

He celebrated his 50th birthday in the bath in 1987.

Pity that Michael Kamen can't come back. He was a big part of these movies.

They'll have to hire Beltrami after what he did with those last couple of Die Hard films, specifically the fifth one.

Kamen's a big miss, though. He was key to these films' identities.

    Get David Arnold.

    Great suggestion.

If Mel brings his A game, both acting and directing, and of course they have a solid script, this could be fun.

Well Gibson is a terrific director so I will give it the benefit of the doubt for now. So long as they go for the same look and style as the others without making it too dark and dreary as seems to be the modern way. It's got to be a big screen experience though.

Silly question, but if this is an HBO Max production, then would it only go to streaming?

I agree. I expect it to be a fun little nostalgia trip and nothing more. It's one of those sequels that we truly don't need and yet could be a good bit of fun in the right mindset.

Even if it ends up being mediocre then it certainly won't stop my enjoyment of the first four entries.

It’s happening. Mel will be directing. Looks like they go into pre-production in late February…

If it's happening I just hope Gibson gets rid of that awful beard he's been sporting for the last few years. Cannot stand the thought of beardy Riggs. Clean shaven Mel is best

He shaved it for Daddy's Home 2 so surely he'll have the same respect for Lethal Weapon. :D

I'm stunned that this is moving ahead. Very curious as to what approach they're going to take with it.

Rather wonderfully if you google for Lethal Weapon 5, Google offers up the synopsis: "When the strongest man on Earth gets into trouble, he must call for help and be saved by seven beautiful women."
