This doesn't mean anything, but Variety currently has NTTD 10th on their Best Picture Oscar Predictions list, which would mean a nomination.
    https://variety.com/feature/2022-oscars-best-picture-predictions-1234965329/

I can't actually believe that, as I think the Academy is more likely to throw votes at something like Being the Ricardos (a Hollywood story by Sorkin always gets some of these guys), The Lost Daughter (real word-of-mouth going both for the Lead Performance and the Director, which usually translates to at least some Best Picture votes) or even Spider-Man (that Box Office is just so massive. If they were to go for a "blockbuster" I think this is more likely than NTTD), which are all currently outside the 10 nomination spots. But I wouldn't have thought NTTD is even in the conversation, so this is a nice surprise.

They are currently also predicting nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Original Score and Best Original Song, with the song being the only predicted win for the film.

Edit: Imagine what would happen in the "Why NTTD shouldn't have been made"-thread, if the film gets a nomination for Best Picture or Best Adapted Screenplay (where Variety has it on the outside looking in at #7) =))

Maybe NTTD might appeal to an older demographic compared to NWH which may sway the best picture in it's favour (if we are comparing the big blockbuster's chances).

Well Forbes’ Mendelson stated that NTTD is a more likely candidate to Best picture than Spidey, if the Academy decides to put a blockbuster in the mix.

Anyway just the fact that NTTD is being discussed as a potential candidate is great and speaks volumes about the huge and positive impact this film had.
  • I like NTTD very much, but I would be shocked if it gets nominations for anything other than Sound and Original Song. It would be amazing though if Variety's predictions come to fruition.

    Adapted Screenplay?

    Yeah that is really weird

(Speaking of screenplays. I might have a copy soon)

Using characters created by Ian Fleming. Hence adapted, not original.

Yeah but I have to rewrite it first since the copy/every page is numbered (attached to a specific crew member). Do not wanna get anyone in trouble plus I have the number one software - Final Draft - for script writing

  • I love Ana de Armas. I love her a lot. I love her in No Time to Die. She is part of maybe one of my favourite sequences ever in a Bond film. But if you’re going to give a nomination to anyone from No Time to Die for supporting actress surely it has to be Léa Seydoux. She was absolutely phenomenal. She elevated every scene she was in, and her acting in the car chase in Matera is amazing (especially her reaction to the call from Blofeld), as well as in Norway and the end. I don’t have a problem with Ana being nominated, but if there was only one actress to be nominated from this film I think it easily has to be Léa Seydoux.

I don’t see a Best Picture nomination really happening but there is a rising buzz around the film. Hopefully a good result at the BAFTA will give it a push.

Yeah, the "serious film" crowd respects Bond a bit — which makes sense, since Bond is deeply rooted in the tradition of cinema as well as having a bit of "prestige" to it (not 3-4 releases ever year like Marvel). Plus this one has the whole "Last Craig one" aspect to it, who has been a critical darling forever.

There's no way it wins BP and I'd still be surprised if it got a nomination, but there is rising buzz. BAFTA/PGA will be a great canary in the coal mine.

Have noticed a lot of trades running NTTD puff pieces in the last week. Between this and "Licorice Pizza", MGM going all out on FYC lol.

(apologies for the double post/poor quality of the video)

Was on IndieWire reading an article about Megalopolis and came across this "For Your Consideration" ad for NTTD. I enjoyed it, so I figured I'd download it and post it here if anyone else wanted to see it.

I would like to have a copy of the NTTD-spot in high quality. Tried to download it via other sites but the quality sucks.

BTW: Is it for pot. Oscar awards or Bafta??

Oh I’m not, I’m being a bit over the top when I say that. Just pointing out that I’d be incredibly pleased if that were to occur.

I tend to think that too, but when you think about the stuff that the academy likes, it seems like films like Bond will never be recognized; those guys like what they like, and it all feels very pointless.
It’s nice that it’s getting some recognition from the Baftas, though.

Regarding a potential Best Picture nomination I feel Bond needs to bring home at least a Best Film or Outstanding British Film award at the BAFTA in order to get that.

But even a nomination in itself is quite an achievement I believe. I never thought that Todd Phillip’s Joker would end up receiving 12 nominations, and was quite surprised when it did. If anything, maybe that’s an indicator of the Academy trying to broaden the demographic of what films should be considered for Best Picture, and BAFTA giving it recognition is just as great too. Wasn’t Casino Royale and Craig both up for BAFTA nominations back on 2006?

SF won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film. The best of the best case scenario would be NTTD winning it as well and that could lead to a Best Picture AA nomination… something a Bond film never achieved. There’s a 1% chance it will happen but the fact that such a thing is now being discussed feels already great.

Very much agree! I get that Ana is a very popular actress now, but in a fair world MGM would be plugging Lea for the Supporting Actress long-lists.

Sorry just seeing this post now. Don't know but I'd assume since it was on an American website and said "Best Picture" (not Best Film) it would be Oscar.
