Great article MI6, reminds me of the book 'James Bond's London' by Gary Giblin, but your glossy colour photos give your article the edge, look forward to the next instalment. B-)

Maybe after you've done London you could expand it to other 007 locations, I would love to see MI6 do an in depth article on great Bond locations in my home town...I live in Bracknell. :)

We've had some feedback and made some changes. If you know London well you might like to write to us with any suggested changes.

I did some writing work for the 3M company a few years back and visited their UK HQ, which is in Bracknell. You know, on the inside, that building looks a bit like a Bond villain's lair. A little bit. ;)

    Great article, indeed... :)

Ah our beloved 3M building, one of the true architectural wonders of the modern world. It's a small world St_George I hope you enjoyed your visit to my friendly and welcoming town and can only apologise for all the inevitable muggings, robberies and physical assaults that as a visitor you would undoubtedly had to endure during your brief stay. :)

Actually just to 'big up' the place with a bit of Bond related trivia, Sean Connery filmed the location work for 'The Offence' in Bracknell including a scene on a raised walkway right next to the 3M building (surely for that it should receive some sort of World Heritage status). ;-)

Yes great job again MI6, I really enjoyed the section on Westminster bridge as I myself have made many pilgrimages to that site and posed in front of the DAD wooden door and I've even done the George Lazenby leaning on the lamppost pose in front of Parliament, I didn't realise until the photo had been taken just how bloody far the drop is from that wall to the river, if I'd slipped I could of been killed...or even worse if George had slipped... it just dosen't bear thinking about! :-ss

Well, I do remember my old boss and I had a drink in a pub across the road from the station before we ventured to 3M Towers. The pub was totally empty and, well, didn't possess that much of an atmosphere, but I'm sure there's livelier and better spots to be found in the 'Jewel of Berkshire'. ;)

By the way, ever get to Windsor or Eton Bridge, @saunders? Only ask, because I've ended up drinking late into the night there many times as a good mate of mine hails from there.

And I'm wondering whether or not it's an exaggeration to say every Bond fan who's made a pilgrimage to the Smoke has posed by that lampost and photographed that damned DAD door... :-))

@retrokitty, not in the first part, but the second features locales in and around Westminster bridge:

I was on that very bridge only a few days ago St_George, my wife and I often gone into Windsor for a romantic meal and always end up on that bridge admiring the swans, the floodlit castle, the distant fields, the many beautiful Christopher Wren buildings that border the bridge and of course the countless procession of bloody great 747's making their final approach to Heathrow just a few hundred feet above!

I wonder if we could get people interested in a MI6 'Young Bond's locations' inspired group meet in Eton sometime?

Good to hear, @saunders, it certainly is atmospheric round there. Some nice little pubs too.

Yup, maybe we could organise a Bond-esque day-trip to (i.e. p*ss-up in) Windsor one of these days - Fleming's Bond went to Eton as well as Higson's after all... ;)

Considering that Pinewood studios are just ten minutes up the road from Eton it could be well worth seriously thinking about, although you can't gain access to the studios we could always have a quick photo opportunity outside the old Tudor gatehouse that the Bond stars would of used and right next door is Black park, the location for many Bond scenes including the classic Goldfinger car chase and the Casino Royale Ugandan resistance camp. From this location you can even see some of the larger outdoor sets on the studio back-lot so if we judged the time right...
Mind you not many pubs nearby so it could catastrophically interfere with the all important p*ss-up factor of a group meet. ;-)

Interesting points there, @saunders - you know, I sense a mini-Bond Camp coming on... :)

@St_George is a mini-Bond camp the same as a normal Bond Camp but there are only 2 or 3 of you ;-) . Therefore, by default you spend most of the time in your favourite ale houses?

Well, by suggesting it would be a 'mini-Bond Camp', I think I was referring to its probable duration rather than number of participants.

Hmmm, I suspect the reality is that that would happen on any sort of Bond Camp, let's be honest... ;)

There is the Crooked Billet on the "Five Points Roundabout" where the A412 crosses, and the A4007 (I kid you not), Pinewood Road and Wood Lane Meet

I'm considering updating this article, since we've since had Skyfall and SPECTRE also promises to include lots of London locations. If anyone has any suggestions of what to include, I'll try to make sure they go in.
