Been trying to think of any part in SF that's better than the Tosca section in QOS. Nope, can't do it. But that's ok - QOS is not for everyone and all that. Anyway, back to NTTD... There doesn't seem to be anything like the word of mouth groundswell around it that there was with SF, yet it's still done brilliantly in the UK. With those numbers, it can't just be the hardcore going back five times.

I do adore the Tosca scene, but I think there are very strong segments in Skyfall as well. The sequence where Bond follows Patrice in Shanghai is top notch and so is the climax with Tennyson during the hearing in London. Meeting Severine in the Casino and Silva on the Island are also brilliant scenes.

I’d also put Silva’s assault on Skyfall as a brilliant climax, and the PTS is very good

There isn't. QoS Tosca was DC's most 'classic' bondian sequence

In NA NTTD dropped a -40% this weekend for a $154.69M cume. Hopefully it will be able to top A Quiet Place 2 $160M gross.
  • It should...but will eventually be bypassed by Eternals and Spidey but will still be in the Top 10 with all the Marvel overkill.

Eternals is free falling… but I think it will be able to best Bond but not F9…

Spidey will gross more than Bond’s total on its first weekend alone.
  • The only Marvel movie that is getting China love is Spidey....so I don't see any threat from Eternals or Venom on the Int'l take.

Yep. NTTD being #2 Hollywood film worldwide of 2021 behind Spidey is a lock even if all those comic book flicks will eventually come out in China.

Eternals won’t be even able to hit the $450M mark globally and since Zhao criticized China it won’t ever be distributed there.
Venom 2 will close its run at $500/520M worldwide and even if (and that’s a big if) it will come out in China there’s no way it will make more than $200M.
Venom 2 is available on Chinese torrent sites since a lot and on Douban (China’s IMDB) its score is a very very bad 5.1 (the first one had 7.1). If it will come out in China it will gross something in the range of $100M…

    Ouch I thought yesterday’s $733M figure didn't count Saturday and Sunday…

That means Bond dropped a -40% compared to last week. That’s the biggest drop since it came out, globally. Basically NTTD grossed $25M over the last 7 days.

$15.1M in Australia after two weeks. I was expecting more tbh…

I think $780M are impossible to reach now. $770M seems more likely!

  • If US market hadn't let the film down NTTD would easily have passed 800 mill.

Without forgetting $15/20M lost in China because of shut downs…

Within the saga now NTTD surpassed the adjusted gross of FRWL and by the end of its run it will best QoS as well becoming the 11th highest grossing film of the franchise.

With a $800M final gross it would’ve surpassed DAF and MR as well!

Still, all things considered, not a bad effort at all. Finishing second for the year behind Spider Man (as to be expected) puts Bond in fine company for a pandemic release. I'm just happy to see it dethrone F9!

Just like SF ended up second in 2012 behind another MS ensamble (The Avengers).
SP in 2015 ended up sixth…

Anyway I was a bit too harsh regarding Australia since it dropped a very good -40% compared to the previous weekend and grossed $1M more than SP at the same point.
I was hoping for $40M in Australia but it looks like it will stop around $30M…

Also there was no Star Wars film that Christmas. Skyfall stayed in theaters well into the new year. Unlike Spectre which was pushed out of cinemas to make room for The Force Awakens.

Spectre was actually lingering around in theaters for 150 days, up to early April 2016

Agree with the rest of your post

I was basing my observation on where I live. I'm sure it did hang around much longer in major cities. I do remember that Spectre wasn't removed from general release until it finally crossed 200 million in the US.

Interestingly, for the past few weeks the numbers for NTTD are tracking closely with SP.

    2 $65,804,041.00 $43,802,698.00 $32,944,531.00
    3 $43,388,040.00 $24,134,528.00 $17,355,650.00
    4 $21,590,891.00 $15,857,936.00 $11,460,673.00
    5 $14,745,983.00 $7,672,317.00 $8,884,605.00
    6 $9,725,711.00 $5,708,472.00 $6,127,114.00
    7 $9,935,604.00 $2,905,413.00 $2,705,566.00

Note: The week 7 numbers for NTTD are estimates at this point. All numbers are summarized from Box Office Mojo. (Sorry about the formatting).

I did think $780m was too ambitious with returns the way they are at this point...once it gets past 750m I'm happy, it's done the best it could in spite of the pandemic and ill-wishes from those who call themselves Bond fans but want NTTD to burn in hell.

Also, this is Thanksgiving Week in the US so it will get a bit of walk-in business and get to around $158m by this time next week. After that, maybe $2m more and call it a day.

I didn't go back to the cinema after it hit VOD....which I'm sure is creating a nibble but if the receipts in VOD justify it, all the better.

Neither did I. I had planned on going one more time, but I appreciated being able to rent it in the comfort of my own home. It's still playing at my local cinema, but with the home video release only a month from now I likely won't go again.

    Let’s do some quick math.

It needs $36M to hit $770M worldwide.
    $10M from US/China + $2M from the UK + $20M from Australia/Malaysia/Philippines = $32M. Let’s add the rest of the world and the $770M figure is a lock.

    MGM celebrates NTTD's milestone:

We are so thrilled to see audiences returning to theaters across the world and for their ongoing support of the theatrical experience. After a long delay, we are especially gratified to know No Time to Die has entertained so many moviegoers the world over. Along with our partners at Eon, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, all of us at MGM are grateful to the teams at Universal Pictures, United Artists Releasing and in our own MGM territories for their tremendous efforts to cross this great milestone with No Time to Die.
This achievement is a testament to Daniel Craig and the entire cast, as well as our director Cary Fukunaga, producers Michael and Barbara, and the crew for making an incredible film. We extend our thanks to our exhibitor and promotional partners for remaining steadfast in their support of the film.

Great news to see NTTD as the biggest Western produced movie at least...hopefully will have legs for a few weeks yet.

Traveling over the weekend the US networks I looked at in my hotel had a regular rotation of NTTD commercials.

    Thanksgiving approaches.

I can't find the official UK figures but based on what Deadline is reporting NTTD has just outgrossed SP in the UK with a monster total of $128M...

You know… its run in Australia closer to SP than SF, COVID skyrocketing in the EU and the PVOD after only a month in the US and 45 days in the UK killed its chances…

770 is great if those regions deliver. I'm looking at close to 750ish next weekend.

I've been hearing NTTD is really cleaning up internationally. Such an achievement, especially in a climate like this. So much respect for EON sticking up for a theater only release. It was the biggest of treats to get to see it as it was intended.
