    Nice, Mr. Roark!

Still prefer the SP 300. Specially with the nato strap. Even if I still prefer the 42mm PO from 2008. But I must admit the SP one is really classy, and lighter, much lighter.

A lovely pair: I've recently realised I much prefer the standard 300 to the Spectre one - the logo is just too massive on the special edition one.

I do love a titanium finish though...

It certainly looks very Bond on the nato strap and for that whole Spectre feel. It's how I've been wearing mine since getting it last year ;)

    NTTD spoilers about the watch...
We see in the movie that Bond started wearing the watch 5 years later after the title sequence and he was already retired and relaxing in Jamaica on his own time. Must've gotten it when he retired I guess. It was just a normal watch with no gadgets. Oddly enough, there weren't any good close ups of the watch in the movie like how they did it with the Spectre watch. We see glimpses of the mesh bracelet and maybe part of the watch from a distant, but there were very few. I really like that before the final mission, it was the closest we saw of the watch, part of the scene was seen in the Omega commercial for the watch, we see Q modifying it with the EMP gadget which proved to be really useful in the end especially when he used the EMP from the watch to kill Primo.

Might wear this when I go see NTTD. The watch, not the apron.

Why not the apron? Take a kitchen knife aswell, to complete the look :))

What's the strap on that Q watch like? I have that or the Q² floating around in the back of my mind as a potential purchase, but on your photos the strap looks a bit cheap. What's your feeling?

Perhaps I could get behind the counter and pop my own corn.

The strap is pretty thick, and despite the cheap vinyl look of the top side, it feels sturdy. The backing appears to be soft leather, with 'designed by Q' written on the back. Edges of the strap are red, but the back is cream. I like the cutting mat grid design on the top. I recommend it.

    Thanks for the review.
Now iÍ just have to figure out for myself whether the hassle and risk of buying on the secondary market is worth getting the original Q or if the Q² directly from swatch is a better bet (and whether I can justify that purchase to myself at all...) :-?

Thank you. Just so happens to be my cat that coincidentally resembles a certain Spectre cat :))

Looking at your ID, I suddenly remembered how Q's cat looked in the movie... And Bond saying "You know, they come with fur these days."

    Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin’s New
Chronograph Has a Subtle Nod to James Bond
    By Carol Besler | November 1, 2021

The new Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition features a dial in British racing green.

After kicking off its partnership with Aston Martin with the Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition, Girard-Perregaux follows up with a more sporty tribute to the iconic British power car brand, the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition.

The watch combines features that represent the hottest look in watches at the moment. It’s a chronograph with a stainless steel case and bracelet and a green dial—in this case, Aston Martin’s take on British racing green, and just as Aston Martin’s green cars are coated with seven layers of paint, seven layers of color are applied to the dial of this special edition.
    Girard-Perregaux-Laureato-Chronograph-Aston-Martin-Edition-closeup-caseback.jpg
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition
Compared to most other auto-timepiece collabs, the auto references here are subtle: There are no steering wheel-shaped rotors, fuel gauge-themed power reserves or tire-tread embossed straps. The references to Aston Martin are discreet and aimed at people who notice details: the counterweight on the seconds hand was inspired by the side strakes first seen on the side of the 1958 Aston Martin DB5 [DB 2/4 Mark III?] and later became a signature of the DB5, the model preferred by James Bond. The crosshatch pattern in fine black lines on the dial is inspired by the quilted seats found in the British brand’s high-performance sports cars. The only logo on the dial is that of the watchmaker, Girard-Perregaux. The Aston Martin name and logo appear quietly on the caseback, where they are etched into the back of the sapphire crystal. The partnership between the two brands also includes the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team, whose drivers, Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel, wear Girard-Perregaux on their wrists and sport the GP logo on their driving gloves.

The three subdials—chronograph minute and hour totalizers along with small seconds—are outlined in dark gray, and the hands are partially skeletonized, as are the central hour and minute hands. The bracelet and 42mm case are 904L stainless steel, which is less common than 316L and more expensive, but it has superior corrosion resistance, better scratch resistance and a much brighter, luxurious appearance—it takes a high polish, like gold.

It contains the caliber GP03300-0141 with a 46-hour power reserve. In a Laureato first, it can be seen through the caseback, including circular côtes de Genève on the rotor, straight Geneva stripes along with perlage circular graining on the bridges and plate, polished sinks and thermally blued screws. If you look to the right, between the Aston Martin marques, you can see Girard-Perregaux’s gold eagle emblem, signifying it is an in-house caliber.

This is a limited edition of 188 pieces, priced at $18,100 and sold both by Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux authorized dealers.

Fascinating. I like the counterweight on the seconds hand that is inspired by the side strakes of an Aston Martin.

That's not bad actually, there's uglier watches out there. At the risk of naffness I think I'd probably want an AM badge on the dial where it's visible though.

Very nice, especially the dial. Not keen on the octagonal bezel though. And of course, Red Grant wore a GP in the novel.

Personally, I think that's an ugly watch. £13k for that? How many Bond Omegas could you have for that, 2 + pocket change?
