@Creasy47 Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order First impressions visually it looks fantastic the way the camera moves in some instances really drags you into the action. The game has started off in the same vein as Tomb Raider and Uncharted which I was not expecting. I am a big fan of this type of game.

That's great to hear. The visuals for it were pretty stunning, I bet it's all even nicer on a next gen system. Can't wait to try it out! I need to finish Days Gone first before I start something else.

@MajorDSmythe, damn, good thing that it's improving with every new installment! And the fact that these games seem to be smoothly releasing every year or two is appreciated, as well. Hopefully they're in a much better state upon release than the one I played was. I heard it was beyond awful at launch, I didn't try it out for a year or two because of that.

To be fair to CI Games, they aren't a AAA developer so some issues are to be expected. Certainly given my experience of this series, I expect them. But so far, having completed the first two missions, I haven't encountered any problems. I did have to download a patch yesterday, and looking at the notes, it did fix a problem that other players had reported.

At least they're on it with the patches. Then you have games like Cyberpunk 2077 that released in a genuinely unplayable state, and yet somehow, seven months later, it's gotten even worse in some areas. Glad I got my Platinum in the first month and instantly got rid of it. Big disappointment from CDPR.

Fantastic game. I’m super jealous that the PC version has a VR mod. I’ll probably have to get it on PC someday for that reason.

Just got 100% trophy completion on Bloodborne - insanely challenging yet worth every second. The only Souls-like games I've played so far are this and the PS5 remake of Demon's Souls and this one was so much better - the atmospheric universe, the Lovecraftian monsters, the slick attire and weaponry. I really, really hope they do a sequel to this sooner rather than later.

Now looking to pick up the EU version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt so I can pathetically get the Platinum on that for the third time. Definitely in my Top 5 games of all time, that one, it's so perfect.

Didn't like it or found it too hard? I love that game so much, it deserves a sequel.

I just didn't have much time and found myself not playing as much as I used to. Then browsing on PS Now, RDR 2 was a free download so I did that instead. I'd used to spend deep evenings playing games such as Fallout 4 and Far Cry but with two kids and a pregnant wife, my playing times have been greatly reduced

That's how it's been for me lately - in between work, doing stuff around the house, general family life, etc., I can't veg out in front of the TV and play for 8-10 hours a day anymore. If I'm dedicating my little free time to one video game, it better be a damn good one.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is proof that video games are a art form. One of the best games I’ve ever played.

Also, this week is gamescom. Expect some new announcements on games!

I consider every event in my life to be before playing RDR2, and after playing RDR2. Absolutely agree that video games are an art form. It may be one of my favourite stories in any medium.

The Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Castlevania Advance Collection has helped me begin to marathon through this classic series. I’ve loved most of the games, especially Super Castlevania IV, Bloodlines, the original, and the Dracula’s Curse. Just started my first “Metroidvania” one, Circle of the Moon, and it is fantastic - maybe the better style!

Is it best to play the first game or can one jump straight into RDR2?

I played RDR2 without playing the first game at all. Plus it’s a prequel. I think that it should be fine.

As for my last video games played, I’m playing all the Uncharted games for PS4. I’m greatly enjoying them!

Having had to put a few things on the backburner, when I moved, I can now continue with them. One of them being my playthrough of the entire Yakuza saga, so I went all the way back to the beginning with Yakuza 0.

I still need to buy the Remastered Collection (3, 4, & 5), Like A Dragon, and Lost Judgement.

I wouldn't say that they are hard (some of the boss fights can be full on, though the games do allow for use of health top ups mid fight), but they can be an acquired taste. They're heavily story driven, I mean REALLY story driven*, with furious arcade-y fights, mixed with a bizarre humour. At least the main series is. I don't know about the the Judgement / Lost Judgement spin-off series, I have tried to avoid looking at them, until I get to them.

I would definitely urge you go give them a closer look, @Creasy47. But try and avoid looking to much into the stories, focus more on gameplay. If you do give them a try, start with Yakuza 0 (the prequel), and go from there. The rest, I believe, can then be played in release order.

    * That said, the games don't force you to play the story, there are lots of side quests and mini games to play to break up the story should you wish. During Yakuza 0, I found that I spent so much time running Club Sunshine, the cabaret club. Hiring hostesses, and training them was more fun than it sounds.

Yes, it seems the games are very, very extensive when it comes to minigames, side activities, etc. It seems like there is hundreds of hours of content packed into each installment, which is very enticing.

That Lost Judgment game looks like a real blast, as well, I had my eye on it for a couple of weeks.

You could always try it, then pick up Judgement, in case there are any references that harken back to it. In fact, given how it is a spin off, free of the baggage of the Yakuza series, it might be better to jump in with Judgement.

Either way, here's a spoiler free taster of what lies in store in Yakuza 0:

Looking back, I barely spent any time on the real estate mini game. It just couldn't compete with the cabaret club.

It looks certifiably insane, in a really good way. Gotta finish up The Witcher 3 then I might have to dive into one of these!

Oh it’s insane, but there are a lot of serious dramatic moments too.

I still need to try The Witcher 3. I have it for the PS4, as a special edition with all dlc included, but I haven’t got around to trying it yet.

Need a bit more money but I’ll absolutely check one of these out soon. They’re on sale all the time on the PS Store it seems, thankfully.

And you should check it out! It’s in my Top 3 all time games. I bought the EU version just so I could get the Platinum Trophy for the third time. I beat the game today, now on to the two DLCs before beating the main story on the hardest difficulty and being finished.

I get the impression that The Witcher 3 is one of those games that will consume a lot of my attention. Maybe that is why I have held off of starting it, at least until I have less on my plate. I am trying to get the plat for Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2, so maybe when I am done, i'll try The Witcher 3.

It really is. There's just so much to do and so many secrets and locations across all corners of the maps, you'll easily sink hundreds of hours into the game if you're really enjoying it.

I get that sentiment, though, it's tough for me to start games that large and expansive when I have such a big backlog to get through.

How's the Platinum going for Contracts 2? I nearly bought the first one on sale a week or two back but didn't realize the sale was ending before I did.

So The Witcher 3 is a lot like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, in that way. It requires a lot of your time.

As for Contracts 2, I lost momentum to be honest. I finished the game, but it was when I was doing my sweep up of the outstanding trophies. When I moved, a lot of things had to be put on hold. Now I am able to start picking things up again, I restarted my playthrough. Though this time, rather than play through till the end, then go back through each location, I am completing each mission 100% before moving onto the next. I have 100% on the first mission, including the trophy for completing it on the highest difficulty, which is a lot easier than it sounds.

I'm waiting to hear your thoughts on the Contract games. I think we had the same feeling towards Ghost Warrior 3, so I think you'll like the redesign they underwent with Contracts. I did read somewhere, weeks ago, that Contracts 2 had already passed the point where it needed to be considered a hit, and the devs were at work planning Contracts 3.
