Oh my gosh, that got me thinking. To this day, I still hear myself muttering, "Could be worse; it could be raining..." when in some situation. Bless Marty Feldman and Mel. How I laughed through Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles.

I so agree! I love Michael Mann's films. And "Thief" one of his earlier ones; so good!

@4EverBonded, nice to see another big fan! I'll sadly admit, I haven't seen 'Thief,' but I would like to. I have only seen 'Last of the Mohicans' a few times, but I constantly watch the other four with absolutely no problem. 'Miami Vice' gets trashed all the time, 'Heat' is 'too boring' to people today, 'Public Enemies' isn't 'historically correct, thus a bad film,' and I haven't heard bad things about 'Collateral' yet. But, Mann's film style, on top of the thousands of excellent, addictive scenes in his movies makes them the best for me, and I'm really looking forward to what he tackles next.

Haha, true. Hopefully soon Django Unchained will be on my list. The only film I didn't like that was his was Death Proof, I preferred Rodruigez's half of Grindhouse.

    I'll do Matthew Vaughn:

    1. X-Men: First Class
    2. Kick-Ass
    3. Layer Cake
    4. Stardust

    @thelivingroyale and JWESTBROOK

I preferred Deathproof to the Zombie flick. I liked the silly trailers too. They had me in stiches.

    =))
I preferred Kill Bill vol 2 to vol 1. I thought 2 had more humor and was more fun. The fight with the Crazy 88's was cool but it just got to be too long and over the top after a while. IMO.
Tarantino is one heck of a writer. he comes up with the coolest-in you-face- dialogue.

Mann has style, you got that right. :) Do rent Thief; with J. Caan and T. Weld. I took a film criticism course in college and that was one of the movies the teacher had us watch (I had seen it before that, though).
I am happy so many folks like Heat; such a thought provoking, memorable film with strong performances by all leads. And I really like Val Kilmer, so I tend to remember some of his earlier great works (Tombstone, The Doors, and Heat; plus I love The Saint). Man, he is due to be in a good movie again.
I haven't seen some of Mann's other films; I guess I need to see Collateral next. But is that with Arnold S.? I don't care for him (except as the Terminator).

No, Collateral has Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg, and SF's very own, Javier Bardem. Great cast, and Tom Cruise plays a hit man who gets in Jamie Foxx's car (he plays a cab driver), and offers him hundreds of dollars for five stops and five hits. Excellent, tense film, with the usual beauty that is the style of Michael Mann.

Yes, he does. He's very cold and calculating in the film, I loved his performance.

If for some reason this topic gets pushed back by then, do PM me and let me know what you thought of the film. It's one of my favorites.

OK, I will. Looking forward to seeing it but it will be 5 or 6 days from now. Meanwhile, see if you can find Thief!
