I hope they Steer away from the FPS genre and stick to stealth gameplay be a good change to the 007 video game franchise. Stealth games such as Splinter Cell and Hitman always felt like James Bond games to me.

Stealth games are pretty much dead in this day and age. Only stealth game that's being worked on is Hitman and I heard Hitman 3 is the last Hitman game which makes sense so they an start this new 007 game. The early to mid 2000 was the best time for stealth games.

Its not the last Hitman game, its the end of this specific trilogy. After this, they are giving Hitman a bit of a break to work on other projects like Bond. Hitman, at the end of the day, is still IOI's baby, so its not going away. Plus, these 3 Hitman games were incredibly popular for a niche series.

The fact that there hasn't been a stealth focused Bond game yet staggers me. The man is a spy, this is a no-brainer. I played a bit of the first of this current Hitman trilogy, and it's definitely the template I hope they follow.

The second has killer fun sniper missions. IOI is definitely the right developer to tackle Bond.

the more I think about it the more I think a pure stealth bond game would be quite cool.

I think something like Metal Gear Solid (well, the first four anyway; V's style wouldn't really suit Bond) would be wonderful.

The Hitman 3 reviews are now coming out and the consensus is that is it pretty fantastic. Lots of 9/10’s being awarded.

Certainly bodes well for our man Bond.

I'm way more excited for this upcoming Bond project than Hitman 3, sadly. They're already lying about the length of the game in hopes of selling more copies, I imagine, and for that, I'll gladly avoid picking it up day one at full price.

I just realized that and I’m not sure if this was said: not only would 2022 be Dr. No’s 60th anniversary, but it would be Goldeneye 007’s 25th anniversary, which could be just as good of advertising. Plus they’ve worked with Sean Bean! More real life foreshadowing, perhaps? I think we’ll know more soon!

Bugs, lying about the amount of "full levels" and some of the smallest challenge counts for missions throughout the entire trilogy - definitely passing on this one. Bring on that Bond title, please!

Haven't watched any reviews yet (don't want to be spoiled), but why are people saying they are lying about full levels? It's six new sandbox locations, and IO has already confirmed that any additional content (ie. Additional targets) will reuse and repurpose the existing locations. That process is literally identical to Hitman 2, just as Hitman 2 was identical to Hitman 1. It's an ongoing game, so no surprises there. Six new locations each time for a total of 18. They've hyped up being able to play the entire trilogy via Hitman 3 but that isn't lying about its length. It has been pretty clear, and they even have explicit instructions on their website to explain how to carry forward your progress and import all the levels. It's also totally free to do so if you already own the previous games contrary to some misinformation being spread among some online outlets the other day.

Perhaps the entire experience might not be worth full price to many people, which is fair, but with how often these games go on sale it shouldn't pose much of an issue.

I recently purchased the first two installments for 70% off and am looking forward to playing the third. Will probably end up playing all 3 simultaneously.

Their own marketing said there would be six FULL levels, which we didn't get in Hitman 2, but it's clear that, sans spoilers, one of the levels is almost entirely narrative-driven and is more akin to some quick mission from CoD than it is a fully realized, sandbox mission. Thus, there are only five actual levels available. Hell, I've even heard how the narrative seems to take over and make some of the levels not terribly replayable, which really is the grand essence of the series.

This rubbed me the wrong way with Hitman 2 (Hawke's Bay is clearly not on the same level as the other locations) and I won't be paying full price for the same with this one.

It would be great if Sean Bean voiced Bond actually. Anyone got any suggestions for a particular actor's voice they'd like to hear?

Eh, Hitman 2 wasn't really their fault. Yeah, the full game was basically only available via DLC, but that's because of the greatly reduced budget on account of the management buyout. It's why the initial levels didn't have full motion cutscenes either. Still, it didn't take long for the entire game plus DLC to be available for less than $20. More than fair. Don't get me wrong, I certainly wouldn't have paid the huge price tag of the Gold Edition at launch either. All the same, I don't fault IOI for doing what they had to do.

Personally I don't think the semantics of what was meant by "level" is them lying at all. It seemed fairly clear to me that they simply meant the entirety of the game would be available at launch this time unlike the previous two entries. Six new locations, full length or not. Hawke's Bay was fine by me. I don't mind a small map like that to contrast some of the larger ones. I hate Isle Of Sgail with a fiery passion even though on the surface it is an incredible map.

I was reading some of the comments on the Hitman discord and from the attitude there you'd think this was some type of Cyberpunk 2077 level blunder! I fail to see it, but I guess I'll see when I get rolling on the game tomorrow evening.

I dove in with the Gold Edition on day one, to support a developer I've always admired, and found that most of the versions were much cheaper even before all of the DLC was released. They fooled me once with that.

And we'll agree to disagree on that one, because their recent marketing clearly indicated that there would be six fully complete levels (I believe they even note 'Mastery Level 20' for each to clarify this point further), which really isn't the case at all. Poor wording on their part, sure, perhaps, but I'd much rather wait and get it for dirt cheap when it's patched to hell and back.

Yeah, anything comparing this one to Cyberpunk 2077 is certainly overblown and false. In all my years of gaming, I've never played something that inherently broken.

EDIT: Around 2:09 (video's barely a month old now) is where my issue comes in - it's a clear lie, in my opinion, but yes, semantics. I'll just wait to get it for $20 and not feel the sting as heavily.

All very fair points. I suppose I'm the opposite on this one in terms of supporting IOI - I think I maybe spent $25-$30 collectively on the first two games so I didn't feel too much of a sting going for the Deluxe Edition this time around. With the PS Store discount I got it for essentially what the Standard Edition would have cost in store anyways after taxes. In any event, I'm looking forward to diving in tomorrow and then focus can hopefully shift entirely to Project 007. 47 deserves a break!

Me too. I would also like to see Jon Hamm play him (if they went American). Kit Harington would be my personal choice. He’s known, but not everyone-knows-your-name famous. That really helped the previous Bonds.

When I think of Game of Thrones, Richard Madden would be great, too, in my opinion.

How about Brian Blessed? Ah I don't know, they'll likely go with an actor who specialises in voice acting. I'm more concerned about the gameplay. Hopefully we will have some news in the next few months..

He was another choice! Tom Hiddleston could be interesting as well. Brian Blessed would make a great villain. Maybe for Jean-Paul Scipio, if they use Forever and a Day as a influence or adaption. Speaking of FAAD, I would like to see them use this, Richard Maibaum and Michael G Wilson's original scripts of Bond 15, and even Jeffery Deaver's Carte Blanche. I know a lot of Bond fans don't like it, but there are bits that could be adapted well for a video game.

Hopefully this doesn’t become another “who would/could play Bond” thread. I’m excited to read the positive reviews of Hitman 3; haven’t played any of the games but I might jump in to prepare for Bond.

True, Madden has a very commanding voice.
