my guess is fall 2021 but hoping for a trailer soon maybe march?

No gameplay yet so I wouldn't be surprised if it's not here until 2022 (though then again, they could be much further along than they're showcasing, so anything's possible). Hitman 3 development might keep them tied up a bit longer too.

The development seems very early days. On their website, IO Interactive mentions that they are still looking for game developers, programmers and other key employees to work on the game.
I get the idea that they released this teaser just as the ink dried on the contract.

That said, I'm stoked to see 007 make a return to the video game world. Very excited to see how IO will tackle the Bond-isms we know and love.

And to think I had accepted that we wouldn't have another Bond game, then IO Interactive go and announce this. It's funny, a few days ago, there was an article on PushSquare (I think it was them), about IO Interactive announcing a new project in a few days. Turns out to be Bond!

An origin story? So it'll be its own thing, as opposed to be shakled the films? They'll have some freedom, that's good. Given how good Hitman '16 and Hitman 2 were, I have high hopes for this. It's been too long since we've had a Bond game, and even longer since we had a good one.

10 years since the last good ones and 8 years since the last one

Bloodstone had some amazing driving missions (that last chase was pure white knuckle stuff), but I was underwhelmed by the on foot parts of the game.

So some obvious questions which i don't know if anyone vknows the answers but here we go

    1. is it set in todays time or in the 50's
    2. Who will be bond?
    3. Will Casino Royale or Forever and A Day be any kind of influence on the game?
    4. Will they do a random Goldeneye remake/cash in as well (the last question is a joke but still)

The period thing is an interesting question: it seems possible, but this also seems to be very much a Bond movies adaptation from the use of music, 007 logo & gunbarrel so I would guess it's not likely to be a 50s one as the movies never went there. But then they seem to be doing a new version of his origin, so who knows..?

As to who will be Bond my guess would be that they'd be making their own unique Bond and not one from the movie: so like the Spider Man and other Marvel games are kind of close to but separate to the movies, with their own versions of the main characters. Craig will be effectively gone as Bond by the time it's out (and doing his origin again would be a weird move) and it seems very unlikely that the next movie Bond will have been cast. I don't really feel it's likely you'd get the chance to pick from the old Bonds as that would cost loads, and if I played as Roger I'd want it to be in a Roger style game.

Funny to see the EON logo underneath the 007 logo.

    Agree on all of this.

To tackle some of the other questions:
My guess for timeline is basically our time but slightly futuristic, which is a video game staple and also typical Bond.

Nowadays we get actual actors playing lead characters in triple-A video games lending the voice and sometimes likeness and some Mo-Cap stuff. I would prefer a "original likeness" so to speak and not an actor...

Yeah I would imagine they may even hope for this to become a series of games, so it would seem logical to invent their own unique Bond as Craig is reaching the end of the road. His contract to do things like this is probably finished too.

The intelligent move would be to let player create their own Bond with an in-game advanced editor like you had in Saints Row or other games (so they could create orginal face or try to create Craig/Brosnan/.../Moore faces if they want, without even has to paid/autorisations of the actors to "use" their likeness!). Exemple with Saints Row carracters creates by players :

    fKeNwdn.png

    JJW7WF3.png

(I did the game with Schwarzy back in the day)

(BTW : "developing the very first James Bond origin", seems they had sort memories : after CR 2006, James Bond Origins, Young Bond serie, Forever and a day, Bond 15 script, etc...).

Carte blanche also is a sort of Bond begins novel
  • Does anyone have the video editing technology to use the Gunbarrel and it's movements with Daniel Craig walking through it?

I think it's worth noting that video game developers are often way ahead of us so who knows how much of the game they've already started developing.

Maybe they'll release it in 2022 for the 60th Anniversary?

I am surprised Calvin Dyson and others have not done a video on the news

I wonder if Centerstrain01 who does playthroughs on all the splinter cell and hitman games will do a playthrough of this...

I wonder if I can stop being so excited and focus on other things

Also, how much of a Hitman-port is this going to be? I would assume they will take a good chunk of weapon models and physics as well as basic character modelling and crowd AI from Hitman 3 and use it in Project 007.
If they were really cynical, they could just keep the entire back-end as is and only do a new story and a couple of design twists here and there and call it a day. And I would probably be ok with it 😄

I guess what I'm saying is: Everyone look out for Hitman 3 in January!

I'm certainly going to pre-order it as soon as. Love both the first two games! And yeah I think there'll be some similarities but I won't be surprised if this game leans more towards the initial story-mode games we're used to. I know Hitman still had a story, but each mission was kind of its own thing whereas I feel Project 007 will blend together more, like the films - although who knows.

Also, Hitman doesn't have driving levels so hopefully, this will be a new aspect to this game.

I suppose there's not much else to say really until we get more news regarding the mechanics, the story or even the voice cast. I'd be interested to see if they go for name talent or normal video game voice over actors.

Yes it's a point, I wonder if they would go for someone vaguely known to play Bond. Someone like Toby Stephens even! But then in terms of voice acting I think Daniel Craig has one of the best Bond voices out there. They're a Danish company aren't they? So they'd have reasonably easy access to plenty of British talent.

Maybe Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender who many complain about the look but not their voice would be interesting

And Calvin has done longer videos on less lol

I'm genuinely looking forward to playing as Agent 0047. It's been ten years too long since Blood Stone and GoldenEye, it's just about damned time.

That gunbarrel looks so sexy. I want to touch it.

Looking forward to a new game!

Might be a while until we get anything more concrete but damn, is it refreshing getting to actually discuss an incoming Bond game and not the bleak future of not getting one again.

again we have an idea of the story my guess is with it being an origin story the first level will likely be Hitman style killing 2 people and getting your first two kills then who knows

Definitely, I do think a 2022 release date is possible, in time for the 60th, if IOI have had time to already put things into action. Like I said video game developers are usually further ahead than we may think.

This is such unexpected and fantastic news! When I heard IO Interactive would be announcing a new game today, I didn’t think it would have anything to do with James Bond.

This developer is perfect for a 007 game. I hope we get more details soon.

    That's very impressive.

Do they do movie tie-ins anymore? Video games are kind of on the scale of movies themselves nowadays.

I hope they get someone good to do the music.

ok in my millionth view of the trailer a few things

    1. I hear snowy foot steps (so snowy level confirmed)
    2. I like leather glove of presumably bond loading the gun

Hadn't thought about that. We're getting more Bond soundtracks. Lovely.

I hope they go the Agent Under Fire route and have Bond be amalgamation of the actors and have the classic Bond's be unlockable skins. It would be nice for them all to finally get the 3D treatment.
