That would be amazing. “I Expect You to Die” is certainly Bond inspired, but it’s basically just puzzle solving.

They should just forget about hiring a video game publisher for 007 games. They should resurrect MGM Interactive and hire developers to make Bond games internally. Kinda like LucasArts was a subsidiary of LucasFilms serving to make digital episodes in gaming.
This way the developers will have all access to the source material to create digital adventures.

This might be controversial, but I wouldn't rule out Ubisoft. Look, I know much has been written about the microtransactions in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, but I have sunk 27 hours into the game. I have a gear score of 88, and i'm a Superior Sharpshooter. I have gotten this far on my own skills. No microtransaction, no boots, just me. They are there, but they are by no means a must. I paid full price for Breakpoint, I am going to eek as much as I can from this game. There is no way I am going to buy my way to completing the game faster. So I would still like to keep Ubisoft as a possibility.

If the rumour of EON selling the series on, then I hope the next owner has an eye on the videogame industry. There is so much that could be done with the licence. And what are we getting? Bloody scratch cards. #-o

Bond has to be a 3rd person adventure

Y'know, let's take a look at the two different perspectives of Bond.

    1st Person Shooter:

We've had 9 of these, so far.

    GoldenEye 007
    The World is Not Enough
    Agent Under Fire
    NightFire
    GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
    Quantum of Solace (PS3/360/PC)
    GoldenEye 007 (2010)
    GoldenEye 007 Reloaded
    007 Legends

The first one, GoldenEye 007 was undeniably unique. Almost every weapon could be dual-wielded, objectives were very different on different difficulties, the enemy AI actually changed between difficulties, and the game was overall just fun.

Next came The World is Not Enough, which was good on the N64 but not the PS1 (past the first two missions, at least). It was more or less a copy of GoldenEye, but with voice acting and less missions. It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't all that good, either.

The next two were very much the same. Agent Under Fire and NightFire both played the same, had similar looking environments (though NightFire had less utilitarian looking ones) and both had a reliance on gadgets (lasers to cut wires, a grapple, a door-opener). Neither one had particularly good stories (clones and a Moonraker ripoff), but both had fun gameplay.

Rogue Agent is the bastard child of the Bond franchise. Using a story that was too crappy even to be fanfiction in order to get classic Bond villains into a story, it was saved only by its gameplay, which got boring very quick. It brought back dual-wielding, but thanks to "realism" (you get regenerating health and a damn eyeball that can do everything), you can only carry those two weapons that you're dual-wielding.

The next four are pretty basic COD clones with Bond skins. GoldenEye 007/Reloaded is the best of them, but that doesn't save it from its fate of generic-ness. They're all fun (I still have yet to play 007 Legends, but considering the Apk Factor is more-or-less the same as GoldenEye 007/Reloaded, I think I can still make this judgement), but their reliance on the COD formula doesn't set them apart from anything else.

This concludes Part 1 of my thesis. Part 2 comes after I watch The Walking Dead.

If Craig isn't going to voice it then they shouldn't use his likeness either.

Somebody had the idea of setting the games apart from the films by giving them their own Bond, M, Q, etc. I think that's a good idea.

I also think a create a Bond game could be cool, where you design how Bond looks and choose from different voices.

Either NaughtyDog or IO Interactive should get the gaming rights cause either one of them would be able to do it. If it were up to me, I'd get a team in ASAP to get a video game ready for the 60th. At this point they wouldn't be able to use Craig, but why not create your own version of Bond just for the game, with some random actor doing the voice-work, and just create an original game series separate form the films. It would simmer a lot of people down in-between movies.

It worked wonderfully for Spider-Man. We're getting to the point where I would even take a remaster of some of the older games, with the recent resident evil remakes examples of how well it can be done.

after playing the newer Hitman games, i gotta say, i would love for a new Bond game to follow a similar format - and i wouldnt even mind it being released in Episodes like Hitman is.. but the actual gameplay itself SCREAMS 007... i dont think every mission needs to be the same sort of thing, but the way you infiltrate and blend in to evade security and sneak attack your target is brilliant, and would make for some interesting missions - tailing people out in public, at a gala, or in a casino style environment

Honestly I have been quietly talking about this with a few people I wish that eon would give the rights for video games to either Rocksteady or maybe Ubisoft ( I really wonder what happened to Ubisoft I was recently replaying the original Splinter Cell and just love how well fresh it still feels)

but how many of those studios are approaching EON or MGM about making a Bond game?.. for all we know, EON may want to dip there toes back into the gaming market - i mean, why not - it's a bigger industry than films lol.. but those studios may not be approaching them with any inquiries or offers... most studios these days aren't interested in movie tie-ins anymore, they are relics of a bygone era - and Bond games since GE64, have really been largely centered around the movies.. also - the sales numbers for the last 3 console Bond games were less than par, or even downright pathetic - there's plenty of blame to go around on why thats the case, but the fact remains, poop in box outsold the Bond games lol.. so studios will also look at that and go "is it really worth it? if these titles didn't sell, what is the public interest for another, and should've we invest millions into it?"

personally, i think the market is ripe for a brand new 007 gaming adventure - the market for espionage games is pretty thin, and with other titles like Uncharted or Tomb Raider on a bit of a hiatus, Bond could swoop in and really have an impact again... but i feel like it's going to have to be a newer, smaller studio with nothing really to lose to take a stab at it.. Triple A developers are going to steer clear.

we know telltale either had a bond game in development or tried to have on as proven by this

but sadly nothing came of it I suspect and this is just a guess they got the licence and was going to do it but they also went bankrupt the same year solstice was rumored to be released... so likely telltale realized they couldn't do a full season of solstice (my guess is they had maybe 2 episodes ready for launch by E3) and scrapped the full project.

this is just a wild guess mind you but it fits.

I would take telltale over nothing.

Also as a point of reference if let’s say Solstice happened and made money who is to say the IO or Ubisoft wouldn’t also try their hand as well I mean both Rocksteady and Telltale and Netherrealm were doing games with Batman who is to say this can’t happen with 007...

Though with all the odd characters in mortal kombat would 007 be honestly out of place and if so which bond would work best?

My money Roger Moore that patented karate chop could take down any mortal kombat character easily lol the eyebrows will do he rest of the work.

And one obvious question does Xbox Game Studios or Playground Games have the rights to 007 now and we all just missed it based on the bond car dlc for Forza Horizon 4

Sucks we never got a Roger Moore stand alone Bond game on one of his movies. Moore would of 100% done the voice.

I’m telling you, Naughty Dog would make a hell of a Bond game. Play Uncharted 4 or Last Of Us and tell me they don’t make some of the strongest narratives/action sequences in video games.

Though the reaction to those leaks is stupidly, ridiculously overblown, even if TLOU2 ends up bad, the first game and five Uncharted games is enough for me to believe they can do Bond justice.

Hah no I haven't, and forgive me if it's all gone to shit. If I'm honest I have a lot more experience with Uncharted than Last Of Us and based on Thief's End alone, I'd give them Bond.

True but there isn't really any way to know whether they are or aren't (unless the studio's gone through big changes that I'm unaware of). Their back catalogue seems a reasonable way to determine a good fit, but yeah, if it's been awhile that method becomes a little less reliable.

But man, Uncharted 4 made me a Playstation man out of me after a lifelong Xbox devotion.

My point is that Uncharted 4 was 5 years ago. If TLOU 2 is as shit as the leaks suggest, I wouldn't want them taking on Bond with that same crew.

the problem i have with Naughty Dog is the same i have with Rockstar.. they are perfectionists.. and while i admire the fact that they never release a game until they feel it's 120% of what they want it to be - it usually takes them YEARS to push games out.... call me impatient, but i dont wanna wait 5 - 8 years between Bond games.. The Last Of Us was released during the final year of PS3's life cycle, and the sequel is only now coming out in the final year of the PS4 lifecycle - thats 7 years, way too long... i'm not saying i would be happy with subpar efforts just to get more games - but there has to be a middle ground.

That’s a good point @HASEROT, but I’m on the side that would rather wait 5-7 years and get great Bond games than get good Bond games ever 2-3 years. Definitely pros to each side but that’s just how I feel.
