Borderline literary-Bond interest at the Cinema Museum in Kennington next month:
Readings of wartime letters between Oscar-nominated actress Celia Johnson and her explorer and writer husband Peter Fleming, read by their daughter Lucy Fleming and her husband Simon Williams.

I'm thinking about it, @Dragonpol! I've read one of Peter's books and liked it a lot, and I'm up for any mentions of Noel Coward that might occur too.

Glad to hear it. Hope you get the chance to attend. I'd love to go to something like that if it was closer to me. It would be especially nice to see and hear an actual member of the Fleming family too!

Which of Peter's books have you read, just out of interest? I find him an interesting figure and am currently conducting a little research on him and other members of the Glidrose board for an upcoming blog article.
  • I'm in. Booked on Sunday. Should be an enjoyable evening.
  • Not booked yet, but planning to go. I just happen to be with work in London that weekend.

I've read 'Brazilian Adventure' and I'm currently reading 'Travels in Tartary' (which includes a nice little titbit about Ian). I love travel writing, especially when it's funny, and Fleming's one of those people who can turn boring, uncomfortable or scary events into comedy.

This has been cancelled/postponed to later in the year.
  • Yes, a disappointment but not unexpected in the circumstances. Look forward to seeing it later in the year if they can reschedule.
