UK version the PRs just emailed. Looks like this is our theatrical poster.

    Approved.

I'm sure it's his photography, but is it really 'his' design, as he seems to be saying?

He's done posters before, so I'm willing to take him at his word.

    Which posters has he designed?

The poster isn't bad...but still not satisfying. Too dark. It looks like a very serious film. Where is the fun? Shouldn't a bond movie more be like a colourful adventure?

I don’t think we should expect something like GOLDFINGER or THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.

Tonally, SP is the closest thing Craig will have had to GF or TSWLM, and IMO that proves he’s better off sticking with the serious, down-to-earth tone that made him popular in the first place with CR. CR and QOS played to his strengths a lot better than the Mendes films - particularly SP (he got a little lighter in SF, but not near the level of SP yet).

I agree. Craig doesn’t do the tongue and cheek very well. If Eon want their future bond films to be in the style of the Roger Moore flicks then they need to find an actor who can pull it off like the great Moore could. Spectre didn’t work and what the hell was that “Mickey Mouse” line?!

So, are we going to have a 20 minute opening sequence that has romance in it as well? No that I really mind but it’ll be weird. Opening credits 20 minutes into the film? Still, the movie is supposed to be three hours long so I guess things will balance out. I just hope this romance doesn’t come across as rushed or they shouldn’t have done it in the first place.

Damn, I was hoping this soundtrack would be released earlier in March. :)
  • Looking at this one closely, I think I'd prefer it without the bullet holes effects. Or maybe only one. It's a very claustrophobic poster.

In a way I think of Craig’s SP to be like the reverse edition of Moore’s FYEO, with each trying the sillier / darker side than they did the rest of their films (while still retaining a few of their comfort elements here and there). For my money, Moore’s darker turn was a lot more enjoyable than Craig’s sillier one.

I’m also very skeptical about the record-breaking PTS. I was hoping for just a standard-sized, Norway-set one, but maybe it will work out better than I expect. Since it’s going to be a long film, it may end up better than I expect. I’m also really loving that poster the more I look at it.

I really like it. Simple but effective. Definitely better than the teaser poster and on par with the IMAX one.

Yep. Not sure that will ease fears from some of the fans on these boards.

Yeah, for me, FYEO was definitely the better film. It also included elements from the collection of Fleming’s short stories.

I like consistency in films. I’m not keen on a mixture of darkness and comedic elements. FYEO is a good film but it would have been a better action thriller without the comedy. Natural comedy stemming from conversations is okay but I didn’t need the one liners or the Margaret Thatcher scene in this move.

what's notable about this official poster is that, after two Mendes films-- and I love Skyfall (I just saw it in concert tonight, and it's a Top 4)-- where Bond came out pretty unscathed (compared to Daniel Craig's first two films), he's now front and center with a bloody and battered face.

I welcome the return of beaten and bruised Bond.

Nice, were you there with Zaritsky and that crew?

I know but I would like it if we could have a few more lighter moments this time. I don't need Roger Moore fun in the Craig era but it still needs a good dose of humour sometimes. While I'm sure that they will succeed doing so, the poster looks like a dark thriller drama and I don't think that such a poster is appealing for the larger audience.

I'm kind of into it...it's the most striking poster from Eon in years.

It's odd not to see Bond hold a gun - though that issue is mitigated somewhat by the bullet holes.

The more I see it, the more I like it. It's edgy

It follows a similar colour-scheme as CR:

No @NickTwentyTwo -- I think they're going tonight to see the show.

I am going to the leafs game tonight with my boy, but am thinking of reaching out to the guy on Instagram to see where they're going after the show-- wouldn't mind meeting them for a drink.

I guess that could just refer to the resolution or particular text used on it though: there could be a few reasons. Fingers crossed for another one coming though: the more the merrier!

The CR teaser remains my favourite poster from the Craig era and one of my favourites of the entire series. Seeing them side by side like that, I think we have a contender for my second favourite Craig poster. Honorable mention to the Skyfall teaser poster.

Sure, but the poster needs to reflect the tone of the film much like the previous posters for Craig. Besides, being closer to a dark thriller hasn’t driven away audiences but brought in more.

New poster looks fine, excluding too many bullet holes as someone mentioned before.

I'm just afraid that it doesn't look like something that can sell the film very well. Because it has that "low budget thriller" look from the early 2010s.

Greg Williams takes the cred for this one:

Most likely will be the front cover of his on set book possibly?

Would be crazy to go back to 2006 and show this NTTD poster to people waiting for Casino Royale, and say "this is your guy fourteen years into his run as Bond." No one would have believed it.

It's the cover of the making-of volume, the on set book (if they do one this time round) will be different
