Pretty good song, atmospheric, sad and waltzy.

    This is the real win:

    Taken from Deadline Hollywood 2012

“Meanwhile Fandango surveyed more than 1,000 Skyfall ticket-buyers and found that... 54% said Adele’s new theme song increased their awareness of the movie...”

Someone should make a video with scenes from CR, QoS, SP and the few available from NTTD to recap Bond's emotional journey using this Billie song.

Well, you may be in luck... ;)

(Debating whether to try and get an instrumental - since Zimmer was after all involved - for the NTTD section)
  • If they're going to kill off Craig's Bonds in Swann's arms I would be conflicted, mainly because I didn't feel SP sold their relationship particularly well.

The Babs era is being properly defined now, and her reign boasts the worst songs in the franchise. SF and YKMN are the only exceptions.

Again with the Barbara Broccoli bashing? And this is not being provocative. It's even evocative of one particular member who had almost a persecutory paranoia about it. PS: I know you're not him. As I know you for ages ;) and you couldn't be more of an opposite to said fella.

That being said, how can an era be defined by a 3/5 ratio that is only your opinion? I, for one, didn't care for one of this era's song. That's all. And I didn't care for one of the films. Saying that "the Baby era is being properly defined" negatively is utterly ridiculous. It has been one of the most successful eras since the 60s, filled with quality cast and crew members. It has made billions, it is properly recognised worldwide as a hit run.

But hey, your opinion, which is valid only because its an opinion and these are forums, must be set in stone. And we all should bow to negativism and hail for EON to end and for the film rights to be sold to a soulless multimillion dollar company who'll take a dump on this precious family inheritance.

Again, I only answered because, for all its faults, Barbara Broccoli has been a great producer, one for the History books. DAD, P&W, Sam Smith and brothergate didn't take that notion away from me. Why? Because of all the other good stuff she gave us throughout these years.

I'll be the first one to eat my hat if she casts an horrendous choice for Bond26, or if she keeps the personal angle afloat for another decade or so. I'll be critical, as a fan should. But I won't hate the woman. She's given us plenty.

So, please, ffs, stop with the Babs-Bashes.

Oh sure, the song is not on par with GF, FRWL, SF, GE, LALT, AVTAK, and whatever. But it's not crap. We've had crap five years ago. And the majority of us still call it crap today. But right now, the majority has been rather positive about NTTD.

The "Babs era" gave us GE, CR and SF. That alone should redeem any wrong you pin on Broccoli.

    All IMO, of course.

Now get ready for me to come back in 2025 saying she's the worse producer in History :-D

    Fandom, right?

Ok fair enough. I'll be the first one here praising Babs if NTTD is any good, believe me.

Meandering, dreary, weak. Yet another song to rival DAD, QoS or SP as the worst songs in the franchise, and it sounds like another Sam Smith TWOTW effort (as if we needed another).

Let's hope the film is better than the song (shouldn't be too difficult), but its not looking good. Yet another sign that we are in for SP Part II.

You seemed a little more upbeat earlier, ‘not bad but not great’, I think you said. I’ve seen this sort of thing with many posts today all over social media - a morass of headless chickens feeling like they need to make some sort of definitive call. Maybe you should sit on it and see how it works in the context of the film?

Now I've heard it more I can judge it better. Normally Bond songs grow on me, but this has done the opposite.

Oh well. As long as the film is good, I can live with a song I don't care for.

I like it! Better than any of the other songs in the Craig Era, an era which has been rather underwhelming on that account, with Sam Smith's horrible whining as the series' nadir, songwise.

Billie Eilish is arguably the Britney Spears of the 2020s! She's only 18 and she will be the biggest diva of the decade!

Billie rose to popularity as a teenager just like Britney back in the last days of the 1990s and 2000s.

Wow, never though Billie Eilish would get compared to Britney Spears! Very different kettle of fish.

Well not massively. They're both very big and very pop.

Of course, it is sometimes hard to compare every decade, each decade is unique.

The lyrics are fine, the singing is fine. I just find the melody boring. Hopefully someone will come up with a remixed cover version. As for the comparisons to WOTW, the only version of that song I can listen to is a cover version by a female singer. Sam Smith comes across as a lovely fellow. But I do not like his voice.

I really wanted to hear a version of it with some drums on; I tried YouTube for one and the versions there... all have too much drums! :D

That would be huge for Eilish, as none of her videos have hit the billion view club yet, and “Skyfall” is only past 300 million. So for this to have a billion views with be huge.

And to bring 2012 into context, while Adele’s song never reached a billion that year, “Gangnam Style” did and was the very first to break that barrier. Does that song even hold up 8 years later?? @-)

This song has grown on me over the day. It certainly sticks in one's head, at least the melody does.
Now I'm quite curious what Kleinman has in store for us.

I do like it. It fits the film, most likely, and quite a haunting mood.
And it's definitely Bondian; got some good touches. B-)

It seems to me the majority of fans on the forum are either quite liking it or at least say it is okay. That's a nice surprise to me. This forum tends to nitpick and be negative. Now if she's done something really different, fresh, or "out there" it would not have gone over well here. Yes, it's "another" ballad, but I think it will match the theme of this Bond film. Adele's voice is stronger, but I enjoyed Billie's song. I never enjoyed Sam's.

People saying this is from Bond's perspective is interesting; I personally do not think that is necessarily so. But I don't sweat it, either. Just nice to have the song, it's going to be splendid with Kleinman's title sequence, and on we go. I hope her performance with Zimmer at the Brits is excellent. I think her own fans will make sure it's a hit record, no matter what.

And I want to say I am quite happy with Barbara's handling of the Bond films.

And I have enjoyed all of Craig's entire tenure. Smart, thought provoking, stunningly filmed Bond movies with strong emotional core and a brilliant, realistically acted Bond. Craig has really lived and breathed Bond. I'm so glad he came along at this time; really happy to have all of his films in this series. His time as Bond has definitely renewed, rejuvenated, and sparked the film series. And this is the right one for Daniel to retire with. I am not concerned about anything at this point. Glad to have it at more than 2 1/2 hrs, too. Thrilled with what I have seen from Cary and Linus. April cannot get here soon enough. B-)

I'm amazed anything has had a billion views to be honest; that's incredible. There's a great stat about the difference between a million and a billion: as humans we can't really process the size once something gets unimaginably large, but it's easier to comprehend when you say that a million seconds is 11.5 days- a billion seconds is just under 32 years. Always blows my mind, that one! :D

As someone who initially didn’t like WOTW, I thought the Kleinman sequence was so good that it ended up enhancing the song. It’s still middle tier as far as I’m concerned (I only genuinely like a few Bond songs anyway). I liked NTTD immediately and can already see a Kleinman sequence enhancing it to being something I may actually love. We’ll see.

It's kind of criminal he got dropped for QoS: sometimes you want the producers not to let their directors have so much control! :D

I've now listened to it at least 50 times and I think objectively it is dull, dour and monotonous. I understand this supposed to reflect the Craig era, but I think therein lies the problem. While I'm sure the somber and quiet tones will tie in well with the Kleinman titles and the overall theme of the film, I just feel that the Craig era post Casino Royale has given us much of the same, particularly when it comes to the title songs. I'm hopeful that No Time To Die will deliver and theme aside it looks breahtaking, but I feel that it's ties to Spectre will be a hindrance more than a help. I look forward to be proven wrong.

It feels like a blend of SF and WOTW, really. But the lyrics are better than we've gotten in quite some time.

I also think the song's lyrics confirm the pre-titles are the Ice Lake (as we already know from clapperboards) and then the Matera scenes - which means we are in for a long pre-title - likely the longest ever.

Seems so. I am a little less convinced that we have the Ice Lake, but I don't see where else that scene would fit, except in some sort of flashback when Madeleine is looking at the mask in the box. Problem is, the way it's filmed (as far as we can tell from trailers), it doesn't look like a flashback, from her POV.

Also, I am not sure we get all of the Matera sequence in the PTS. Somewhere, DC said the film goes back to Matera. The Matera action sequences seem to have two distinct parts: motorcycles/Bond jumping off the bridge and the DB5 chase. And the explosion at the grave precedes all of it.

I noticed in this latest trailer that
it's not just Swann who's burning a piece of paper. Bond is as well, in daylight (the next day?) at Vesper's grave.

It is a bit of a downer, but I expect it to fit the film. It's possible for the title song to be tonally disconnected from the rest of the film (I'd argue that that is the case for many of the Moore and Brosnan entries, and even YOLT) but I question whether the song should be disconnected...

Gawd, I can't imagine how Kleinman would make AWTD bearable. That would have been a true miracle. I was open to MK12 getting a crack at doing the titles in 2008, as I believe variety enriches the franchise. But yeah, that doesn't hold up. So repetitive with the constant sand and gun motifs.

Completely agree with you. There’s a general malaise amongst certain Bond fans who simply want cookie cutter entries every couple of years with a knock off Barry theme and the same format played out ad Infinitum. EON have not always knocked it out of the park and, as is to be expected, they’ve made decisions that certain people vehemently disagree with (I too haven’t always agreed with what they’ve done) but I cannot fault their ambition. They’ve worked hard to maintain Bond as a premium brand within a fluid market and challenged by the huge influx of new kids on the block they’ve done exceptionally well as far as I’m concerned. It cannot be underestimated that Bond is still finding itself trending at the peak of modern media.
