The actor Derek Fowlds, best known for starring in Yes Minister, has died at the age of 82.

He played the private secretary Bernard Woolley in the sitcom and its sequel, Yes, Prime Minister, and later played Oscar Blaketon in the long-running police drama Heartbeat.

Before that he found fame with children as Mr Derek on the Basil Brush Show from 1969 to 1973, replacing Rodney Bewes as the presenter.

    The best punchline ever?

RIP Derek Fowlds. Some might say Yes Minister/Yes Prime-minister wasn't
    a comedy but a Documentary.

Damn, I am totally heartbroken over this. Legendary drummer for the band Rush, Neil Peart, has passed away from brain cancer:

I only yesterday learned of this. I don´t know at all what to say. Just a few weeks ago I saw him as a guest in a tv show, and he was the nicest guy on the planet, up for every joke that came along. Not to mention that band he participated in. Rush will always be one the most original and yet listenable bands in the whole world. This world truly lost a really prescious one.

My grandma passed away this morning. I suppose technically she'd be my step grandmother as my grandfather had re-married. Still she was family and we'll miss her.

At least, he died doing something he loved.

Terry Jones of Monty Python has died. I know he’d been very unwell for some time. Will be missed.

Oh dear I am a life long fan of Monty Python, one of Terry's films Personal Services was on last week on the Talking Pictures channel. I am on leave on Friday I will binge watch the Monty Python Movie Boxset in respect, great movies. Terry was a funny man and a great director.

Very Bondian... That last part brilliant.

He was also an excellent historian. I loved watching his documentaries about antiquity and the middle ages. He will be terribly missed.

Terry and his Python colleagues would happily announce 'Two down, Four to go'.

He may have come down the Python pecking order as a natural performer, but he was so innovative. His visions for Python literally shaped the show.

This announcement was coming, but still hard to take nonetheless.
    Sad day.

Rob Rensenbrink, one of the greatest football players to have ever graced the purple outfit of my beloved Anderlecht, winning two Europacup II's during his period in Brussels.
Famous also for hitting the post in the dying seconds of the 1978 World Cup final for The Netherlands, missing out on what would have been their first World Cup title. They have been waiting ever since.
A graceful and stylish attacker, an icon of the golden years of RSC Anderlecht when the Belgians were one of the best club teams in the world, passed away yesterday far too young after an illness at age 72.
    Rust in vrede, Robbie.

I am hoping the new report that his daughters were NOT with him are correct.
This is such very heavy, terribly sad news.
