That trailer got me pretty excited; there is a TON to unpack:

-SF has got some serious competition for most beautiful Bond film. Every shot in this trailer was truly stunning. The collection of locations is as diverse and enjoyable as one could hope for.
-Felix back as we knew is so awesome. I am worried his role will be very brief, but holding out hope he gets some awesome content.
-Madeleine is NOT the next Tracy, or even Vesper for that matter. Clearly they’re giving her an all-new direction and it’s possible she may live through the entire film. I think she has complicated secrets, but she didn’t really “betray” Bond the way he thinks. This is going to be interesting...
-I hope Paloma’s role is substantial. Ana de Armas is dream casting as a Bond girl and she looks as wonderful as I was hoping for.
-Nomi may be 007. I felt the trailer was edited in a way to avoid this giveaway, but I do suspect she indeed has Bond’s old number. Seems they will be more enemies than friends, since she is MI6 and Bond will be working off the grid. The trailer made me more interested in her character so that’s good.
-Blofeld is back, and I’m ok with this despite not liking him in SP. I’m glad Waltz will have one more chance with this character and I’m confident his scenes will be good, however major or minor a player he is this time.
-Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw seem likely to have more minor roles than SF + SP this time around based on the amount of footage which is fine by me. I like them, but Moneypenny and Q don’t need tons of screentime - just a couple great moments. I suspect Ralph Fiennes also will have a bit less this time, but I’m looking forward to his M.
-The gunbarrel shot at the end was cool, but I’m still hoping we get a traditional gunbarrel in the film.
-Daniel Craig looks like he is giving 110% this last time as Bond. You could see a lot of emotion in him this time.
-Safin is going to be an instant classic Bond villain. I’m confident Malek will crush it, and the character looks intense and intriguing.
-An SP sequel is the last thing I wanted going into Craig’s final film. However, based on what I saw, I couldn’t be more excited about it. They definitely want to make this about completing Craig’s Bond arc, and if they’ve found a good way to do it, then I’m all in on it. I’ve always defended standalone Bond as the superior approach, and it probably still will be, but I have an unshakable, optimistic feeling they will pull off something epic and satisfying as a “series finale” type deal for Craig. The trailer had a good balance of feeling finale-ish while not pushing in your face that it’s Craig’s last one.
-Still very much hoping for a YOLT novel-esque ending for Craig’s Bond. I want to see him strangle Blofeld or Safin to death with his bare hands, and the amnesiac/beginning to recover ending could be done beautifully. This is as good a time as any to tackle that superb Fleming content.

Overall, I’m very excited and believe this film has a lot going for it. However, there are still a couple concerns I have such as the plot being too messy/having too many elements, but we will see when it all plays out in April.

Good points. I think Felix and Paloma will unfortunately have fairly small roles but they'll be memorable scenes. I'm pleased M, Q and Moneypenny will probably have less screentime and be London based this time around.

It definitely appears to me that DC is giving it 110% too. It may be controversial but I didn't get that feeling as much in SP. Maybe that was down to the script. Either way, the sharpness and intensity seems to have been raised with this film.

    1) What is the white motorcycle? Triumph?

    2) Is this the same boat from Casino?

    3) The items on the desk. Dang this place is sweet.

    4) The Books

    5) Bond's motorcycle. Triumph again?

    6) Machine gun. He's used H&K in the past.

    7) Glass and the gun. Is it a harpoon?

In case people haven't had the chance to read the Empire trailer breakdown with Fukunaga:

    - The bulk of the story (presumably everything post-Matera) takes place five years after the events of SP
    - Paloma is a CIA agent

    I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Personal stand outs are the colour grade, the lighting design, waltz back to hopefully give a little more depth to his character, set design - wow and cinematography

I do find Felix and dans delivery a little wooden, but it probably won’t be the same in the film anyway

I want a direct continuation of spectre largely because I thought that was nearly a good film let down by a poor third act. More than happy if characters and set ups in that are enhanced.

Music - it’s just your generic bond trailer music so not much to go on there

I like the “the one that works” line and the delivery.

Matera and Jamaica looks stunning. (That boat!! Flying full red ensign too)

    Bravo.

The ones already posted are also 1080p, so same resolution, but the one from Apple has higher bitrate.
  • Well I've had the chance to watch a few times, and I'm intrigued. It looks pretty high intensity, and Craig is clearly acting his ass off. It also looks - even from the brief bits we've seen - that they've delivered a meaty script for him.

    What looks good:
-visuals, as everyone else has pointed out, look great
-I practically cheered when Felix showed up. About bloody time!
-Craig looks excellent here. He really, really does.
-There's just a different tone here. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what, but it feels different and feels good.

    My concerns:
-There are a lot of moving parts here. And a lot of globetrotting. I hope all that plot fits!
-If you didn't want another "personal" mission. . . well, sorry.

I do worry that they've tipped their hand quite a lot here. After a single trailer (and almost nothing else, mind you) we know that
    -Felix and Blofeld are back
    -Nomi is a double-O
    -Paloma can handle herself
-Malek is the villain, we've seen him, and heard him
-Bond and Madeline are at odds about her past and possible 'betrayal'
-And we've seen a few of the big stunt setpieces.

I hope they haven't shot their bolt on this one!

Anyone notice that Blofeld's DOB is 04/07/46? That'll make him 73. Any reason why the character is a whole 10 years older than the actor that plays him?

An establishing shot reveals a prison complex in London which we are to assume is where Blofeld is being held, yet his case file tells us he is being detained in HM Prison Wakefield, aka the "Monster Mansion." Weren't there rumours of filming in Yorkshire or am I imagining that?

Yes. Calvin on YouTube pointed out that that makes the 'stepbrothers' angle even more tricky now, too. So was Bond 2 years old when Blofeld was, say, 28?

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but there's more Japanese influence at 2.02 minutes. Bond and Safin sitting on the floor in front of a table. A Japanese bonsai tree visible through the window too.

Yeah good spot mate, I noticed the Japanese influence too. I wonder if there is a chance we will see a modern take on the garden of death perhaps?
The cinematography and the rich colours is one of my favourite things about this trailer, well that and Felix coming back and called James, brother. So cool

Catching up on some of the posts here. Someone got to it before me but I've been thinking about it over and over for a few hours now, too!
The bit with Madeleine in the back of the car. For some reason, I don't know why, but briefly I thought it didn't even look like her but then I did start to wonder like some other people, if it is her, then why is she in the back as opposed to the front like the Aston sequences?

I also agree with those that:
Believe that the betrayal is more in Bond's head than it is real. A symptom of his job, work and what he's been through because of Vesper. The arc was always going to remain and he's been through the mill. This'll be a time of growth and coming to terms with everything. Perhaps realising that running away and hiding isn't really the answer.

It isn’t Madeleine in the back. It’s a child.

Yeah I think it’s very funny the way Craig delivers it.

I just want to know if Bond will press that ‘FLAME’ button on the DB5 :)

I don't mind the continuity and if they can honour the arc better than they did in the previous film and bring it to a satisfying conclusion I'll be happy.

As someone who hates SPECTRE I'm now super excited to see where the threads of it lead off in this.

That trailer shows loads but doesn't tell you much, a real tease.

I imagine a final trailer will get into the plot and specifics more but we have another few more months before that arrives.

Count me in as one of those idiots too, friend. Which is why I was disappointed at Danny Boyle planning to throw it all away supposedly.

May have been the same interview or another one but Cary said his goal was to think of the hardest things to put the characters through, rather than just doing new stunts etc. He made a real point that the action MUST serve the drama and characters. I love where the man's head is at.

If you look at a higher quality shot that is Madeleine in the back of the car...

Well I've watched it several times now, and I have to say I'm very happy with what we've seen.
Visually it looks stunning, plenty of action. Craig looks fantastic.
Gives us plenty to look at and speculate over, yet the story and plot are still a mystery.
Lead cast all look wonderful. If the finished film is as good as this trailer, then we're in for a treat.

The trailer confirms my scoop in September, below, about Swann. And that their relationship would be an emotional roller-coaster and not as rosy as we originally thought it would be:

[I heard one spoiler below on my trip from a senior source. @00Agent was with me at the time too. It's part of a spoiler but it also raises lots of questions that I don't know the answers to yet. In the last week I've told three members on here who I know in person well but kept it from here until now as I'm now back from my travels so I thought it's time to list it for everyone. It's about the Madeleine Swann character. If you want to avoid it then just look away...
Swann will really "screw Bond over" in the film. Bond will put a lot of love and trust in her and confide in her and open up but she plays with his emotions.

    I DON'T know:

    - If she is bad/working for Spectre
    - Or if she is being blackmailed
    - Or if she just doesn't want to be with him and wants an escape

But either way, Bond is affected/betrayed by whatever happens.

There will be lots of Casino Royale parallels to Vesper, trust, betrayal, as well as him joining/rejoining the service in this film.

I guess Bond starts to doubt Swann and her intentions straight after he
visits Vesper's mausoleum and is almost killed in the explosion and attempt on his life. He will get a phonecall and then head to the bridge where he is ambushed and has to jump to safety. Either that phonecall from a villain confirms Swann has a secret or he is automatically suspicious because she encouraged him to visit the grave and help him finally get over Vesper once and for all.
    I honestly hope
she's a villain, otherwise all this talk about her secret would be anticlimatic

I'd much rather Madeline's predicament not just be another variation of Tracy or Vesper. I would hope Fukunaga is smart enough to try to recalibrate her character in a way that makes her more distinctively compelling than she was in SP.
  • I'm adoring how much CJF sounds like such a Bond nerd in these interviews. Love this dude.

    Such a babe....

  • Trailer is great. It looks like a mix between the balls-to-the-wall urgency of QOS and the visually breathtaking SF.

Madeleine and Blofeld are still eh to me, to be honest. But everyone else looks on point. Safin is obviously a classical Bond villain. Lynch looks fantastic.

The use of color in this film looks amazing. Such a sharp contrast to Skyfall & Spectre. The brief shot of the purple/blue water and the bright explosion in Cuba is incredible.

Also, I paused it at the shot of Safin looking over the frozen lake and it's definitely the girl under the ice, you can see her brightly colored coat. This means that whatever underwater stunt Bond does is not that. Maybe he crashes the SUV seen driving through the water evading the helicopter and ends up in a deeper part.

By far the most confusing part of the trailer is Safin in the same white jacket looking through the glass at Q's house or wherever that is. What the heck is going on there?
