    Here's the thing.....

I'm actually conflicted towards the Brosnan Era because in the beginning, it's okay, and TWINE happened to be my most re-watchable of his films (not my favorite, only my go to watch when it comes to his tenure), but as time goes by, I find myself watching his films lesser and lesser, now, it depends upon my mood.

Moore Era, MR is actually my favorite film from his Bond and that's saying something because unlike Brosnan, it's been well known here that I'm not a fan of the Moore Era, so, MR is the only film of him that I've enjoyed and liked, the rest are not (just not a fan).

It's hard, but if you ask me today, in this exact time which Bond film would I rather watch? I'll go with MR, while I may not be a fan of Moore, I could watch MR anyday of the week, Brosnan is fine for me as Bond, the problem is, his films are low on rewatchability.

Brosnan Bond Films were fine, in terms of quality, those are better than the Moore Era (Yes, I would rather have anything on Die Another Day than to see Grandpa Moore hitting the edges in A View To A Kill), but his films were not something that I could put on in any mood, TND is fine, but I've seen MR many times than TND, it's the rewatchability factor, and for how the Brosnan Bond films are well made, they're low on that aspect.

For those scoring at home MR is #19 on the Rotten Tomato list and TND is of course #20. They do have the un-official mixed in so MR is actually #18 and TND is #19 of the official movies.

For the first time our next battle will be a battle of the same Bond actor in two of his movies squaring off. All other match-ups were different Bond actors.

Moonraker 100% to TND at 80%. MR wins for me!

Wow both films got some love. I consider TND my guilty pleasure Bond movie. Sure it has a recycled plot to some degree. I love Brosnan in it. Pryce is an interesting if cartoonish villain. I love some of the action and the stunts here. I would put that in my player.

I really enjoy the car chase through the parking garage. So much fun and light touches there. Though the ending when Bond risks killing civilians to land in the window of the office was not a great choice as a capper.

He honks! Worth it for the Avis return joke imo.

All right, good stuff! Lets move on to a battle of the Brozza's!

Would you rather watch DAD (56%) OR TWINE (51%)?

Very interesting that DAD is ranked ahead of TWINE in Rotten Tomatoes.

DAD a big film for the 40th anniversary. Strengths include Brosnan playing the role with effortless cool and suaveness. We have an Oscar winner starring as the leading lady and doing so well EON almost considered a spin-off movie. We have some touches of all the films running through the movie.

Rotten Tomatoes says Its action may be bit too over-the-top for some, but Die Another Day is lavishly crafted and succeeds in evoking classic Bond themes from the franchise's earlier installments.

    OR

TWINE which was the film that laid some of the foundation for the Craig era. We have M deeply involved in the plot and out in the field. Bond showing some vulnerability for the villain. Yes a female villain for the first time in the series. This film tries to bring in the relationship and drama of the Craig era.

Rotten Tomatoes says Plagued by mediocre writing, uneven acting, and a fairly by-the-numbers plot, The World Is Not Enough is partially saved by some entertaining and truly Bond-worthy action sequences.

So which film is getting played on your screen?

DAD. It's more entertaining, even the preposterous moments and lines.

    DAD.

Yes, it's a fun movie that knows what it wants to be.

TWINE is OK, but Apted was not a good choice. Why didn't they hire someone like Roger Donaldson?

  • TWINE is my second favorite Brosnan film (not a high bar to clear for me, though) whereas DAD is my least favorite of the whole Bond canon, so it’s any easy choice. Even though it’s not always successful, I appreciate TWINE’s more dramatic aspirations compared to Brosnan’s other films.A very good Sophie Marceau and the fun Thames boat setpiece also help elevate this one a bit. The one area where DAD excels over TWINE (and TND) is that it’s not utterly drab to look at. Not a visual splendor to be sure, but Brosnan’s middle two films look so washed-out and the production design does little to class things up.

TWINE, but they're both two of the very weakest.

Both films are in my bottom 3, but I give DAD the edge because it’s more colorful, has some legitimately well made set pieces early on, and it helps that the writing of the Bond character is not only better but so is Brosnan’s performance being IMO his very best in the role.

DAD should never be rated higher than any Bond movie. Rotten Tomatoes proving once again it deserves to be pulped.

DAD doesn't belong in the 'so bad it's good' genre. It's not even bad. It's actually just completely shit and the people who accrue any pleasure out of it deserve Milton Krest's demise.

Does anyone else notice how it and SF complement each other?

Twine is also shit yet curiously rated as some
sort of misunderstood masterpiece. It dies whenever Bond shows 'depth' by touching Elektra's face on television. He breathes like a demented pervert.

Going with Denise Richards and the mute button.

    Ehhhhhhhh
