Would you rather one main baddie in the film OR a film where multiple baddies wreak havoc?

CR and QOS is my favorite double header in the whole franchise. Just absolute peak Craig for me. And while FRWL is right up at the top of my list, TB brings things down slightly. All superb Bond flicks though you can't go wrong.

Good stuff! Lets try some haphazard double bills and see what people prefer!

Would you rather watch a double bill of GF & TMWTGG OR AVTAK and LTK?

In our first double bill we have a theme of gold shimmering through out. We have the same director with two different Bonds. Filmed precisely 10 years apart these films have more in common than one may think. Goldfinger even brandishes a Golden Gun in the film. Both villains have Asian henchmen who are both ruthless.

In our second double bill we have two films that feature kill in the title. One a hard edged film with our hero on a revenge mission to avenge his friend. The other a mixed bag of a movie, the last time Sir Roger appears in the role. We have a woman hench-person and a cracking good theme song.

So which ones are coming to a screen near you soon?

GF and TMWTGG. I’d rank them as GF > LTK > TMWTGG > AVTAK, with the latter two very close in quality for me. I see the first choice as the overall more fun double bill, though.

GF and TMWTGG belong to my least favorite films. GF never really catches me despite the iconic influence it's had (and the excellent Gert Frobe). AVTAK has always been a guilty pleasure, and LTK is just a very good film. TMWTGG somehow always lulls me to sleep. So, AVTAK and LTK.

Well it will always be my man Dalton!
So it's got to be LTK and AVTAK!

As much as I love TMWTGG, and I like GF, it has to be LTK winning this. I'll take some extra 80's craziness from AVTAK in that mix, no problem.

Lets tackle another random double bill.

Would you rather watch a double bill of YOLT & MR OR LALD & TND?

Both space themed Bonds together. Same director different star. We have some fantastical elements and big sets. We have two haunting theme songs for the 2 movies. One is set in one country, the other hops around the world.

    OR

The debut of an actor to the role with some seventies fashion and some supernatural elements thrown in, coupled with the second film of another actor. One features globe trotting while the other stays in North America. Gadgets galore in one of the films and an incredible stunt involving crocs!

Which double bill is going on your screen?

I'll go with MR and YOLT too.
Big fan of LALD, but not TND!

I’m in two minds. I’d personally be more up for a LALD/TND double bill, but I think YOLT/MR work better as one. I’m not a big YOLT fan either, and I’m a big TND fan. I like both MR and LALD…

I guess I’ll go LALD/TND just on personal preference.

LALD & TND. LALD > YOLT > TND > MR. I feel like the LALD & TND double bill offers better overall variety.

YOLT and MR without any doubt.

Great locations, beautiful sets, superb music and thrilling action.

LALD and TND are both towards the bottom for me.

LALD and TND. For all of their spectacle, YOLT and MR both leave me flat.

Well now that was an interesting showdown. I was a bit surprised how even it was. I was fearful that it would have been more towards one set of films than the other.

Lets try another random, or somewhat random double bill.

Would you rather watch OHMSS & TWINE OR CR & NTTD?

In one double bill we have TWINE being featured in both films. First while undercover with the College and the second time while being tortured. We have two emotional films with both trying to hit some deeper relationships. We have fewer shoot ups and more thoughtful action.

In the other double bill we see a Bond actor debut and then their final turn as Bond. A fascinating chance to see how the character evolved over the course of his tenure. We have a Bond in love and Bond making the ultimate sacrifice.

Which two films would you rather watch back to back?

    CR NTTD
  • OHMSS/TWINE if only because I think just viewing CR and NTTD leaves nowhere near the same impact as it would going through all of Craig’s 5 back to back.

CR & NTTD for sure. CR > OHMSS > NTTD > TWINE here. OHMSS is nearly tied with CR as my favorite Bond film, but NTTD is way better than TWINE for me.

CR and NTTD, for me. I think it’s probably the most interesting double-bill in the franchise, in that we get to see the contrast and growth (or lack thereof in some cases) in Bond’s character from the beginning to the end of his 00 career.

It’s also a great showcase of the evolution of Craig’s performance, going from the slightly brash, arrogant Bond we meet in Casino Royale, to the more mature, emotive one we see in NTTD. Some of the vulnerability and trauma responses from CR still remain and take centre stage in NTTD, but he’s decidedly more “grown up”, which isn’t something we’ve had the opportunity to see with any of the previous Bonds and Craig performs it brilliantly.
