Filming is happening in Maratea now. Daniel is there. Helicopter in slide.

I keep asking myself, why the hell Daniel Craig is always with his two private securities? Of course he is a star who doesn’t like to be bothered and all that, but c’mon, he’s not filming in dangerous places, and he is not an arab sheik.

When will marketing start kicking off? I’m still amazed we haven’t gotten official images, magazine articles, etc.

Is anyone else getting the vibe that Craig's portrayal of Bond in this film is more akin to the Bond of CR and QOS, as opposed to other two? The way he moves in the clip from the train station reaffirmed that impression.

    Yep. He’s focused desperation...

I am oddly fascinated by Dr. Vogel's return. Her characters speech to me is very important to the plot of Spectre the film. Without it I find Spectre the organization to feel less sinister and more juvenile in their goal. It will be interesting to see if she is involved in the dangerous new technology development.

That video clip looks really intense and emotional. My hype for this film has grown steadily lately again after a bit of a lull. A trailer soon would be terrific.

I'm finding myself noticing that the spoilers in this thread are getting bigger and bigger and luckily I have resisted the urges to look at them, but from members reactions they seem quite major.

So i'm bowing out of this thread as I still have a very open mind, and don't know much at all about NTTD, I want to keep it that way and be surprised.

I haven't read them. I've just looked at the photos. The latter are obviously spoilers too but I imagine to a much lesser extent. I watched a few videos of the car chase in Matera but I've stopped with the videos. Anyway, I also definitely get FRWL vibes seeing the train station photos. I went to the FRWL train station when I was in Istanbul. Always like going to a Bond location...

Is anyone else getting the feeling that this film is going to look as if it was shot in 1962?
    That, is a good thing.

Absolutely. It is maybe coincidential, but Cary Fukunaga has this documentary-style, improvisational style of filming. Just watch "True Detective" season 1, "Beasts Of No Nation" and the wonderful "Sin Nombre". Fukunaga is also very acquainted in television. So it makes sense NTTD has a slight retro-feel to it. Less perfectionistic as with Sam Mendes, and more...like you say @Talos7 :-). These are bloody interesting times!

Yes but we haven't seen much though. Hope the whole film is 60's consistent.

As much as early Bond comes to mind , I’m hoping for a Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief “ vibe.

Haven't been liking the throwbacks so far, I really liked what I first saw, the first day of filming; that Japanese style mask, chasing after the girl in a period-ambiguous coat. That felt really fresh. Then we started to descend, yet again, into a 1960s circlejerk. Hoping to see some unique imagery.

I can’t be the only one but when I think of James Bond I think of the 60s..

The problem is that James Bond always wore a suit back in the day.

We don’t do that now. I mean literally who wears a suit just to go out? Businessmen don’t wear suits like that used to either. Unless you’re working a high profile job.

Craig’s last two films were stuck in that weird timeline where they were trying to fit the 60s Bond style in to present day.

You may be surprised to see what other countries feature; remember hardly any of the production crew ever went to China for SF
I know. Though I understood it, I was very dissapointed that they faked China. I actually like to see Bond on location. It will be interesting for me to see how they fake Cuba using the Pinewood set.
Locations are often 'faked' in films - for a variety of reasons, usually just logistics.
    Really? I didn't know that.
Does it bother you that Morocco often doubles for Afghanistan and Andalucia in Spain often is used in films for scenes set in the Middle East?
For me it's about balance. I don't mind Pinewood and an English forest doubling for Switzerland in GF for example, because they shot plenty of footage on location in Switzerland too. I don't mind a desert in a North African country doubling for a desert somewhere in Asia and I don't mind that a snowy landscape in southern France doubles for a country most people haven even heard of.

But when I know beforehand that "Bond goes to Miami" or "Bond goes to China", the balance is off when everything is shot somewhere else.

Would it be fine with you, if you learned that Bond 26 takes place partly in New York, and every scene from there was shot somewhere else?

It would be fine, but for such a city I'm sure at least establishing shots would be used as it obviously has a distinct lanscape. Another example is St Petersburg in GE. A lot of that was created in the studio, can you tell where the location filming is and where the studio location is in the film? Can you tell that St Petersburg airport is in fact the Queen's Stand at Epsom race course?

Video with scene from filming at train station in Sapri.

very good video , EXTREMELY spoilery
she still can die in the train, maybe malek waiting her in it...
it could be a good twist if during all the movie we believe that swann is still alive after the PTS and it is revealed later at the end that she's been murdered by malek shortly after...

Like I said: I don't mind partially doubling (saving time, money, practical reasons etc), so your example isn't very good. And for me, having a Bond movie taking place in New York, without the 1st unit ever going there to shoot something, would be dissapointing, but I respect that you don't mind.

Another interview with David Dencik in Svenska Dagbladet's SvD Perfect Guide (from September 10th). They write in their interview that he plays a villain (although no quote from the man himself on that).

Hopefully my translation isn't too bad:
In 1999, David moved to Stockholm to attend the Theatre Academy and it was during those years that the city became more alive for him, thanks in large part to his classmate Gustaf Skarsgård.

    - Gustaf had a wide circle of acquaintances and we shared many interests. He helped me into the city, we lived together and in it formed a friendship that we have maintained.

Although they both broke through outside the Nordic countries, they have not shared a scene yet. However, David has worked with a number of other Swedes in the international field, such as Johan Renck, Fares Fares and Oscar-winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren, who is behind the camera in the upcoming Bond film - No Time To Die.

    - Linus is just like me, husband, father of two and usually without the family when we work. So we found each other a little.

In 2011, Dencik did his first roles in international major films such as Steven Spielberg's War Horse, David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Tomas Alfredson's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Although he played both Danish and Swedish roles, the international stride was a milestone.

    - Acting in English is like getting a third leg if you are a dancer. In addition, I wanted to come out and see the world, get to know people. As a kid, I wanted to become a cartographer and dreamed of finding a profession that meant many trips. When I was filming Bond in Jamaica, I got a driver who took me around. We stopped at different places, greeted people, ate at some tavern ... I like it! There is an anthropological curiosity in me, he says, and says that he and the driver are still in contact.

That he in the spring fought against Daniel Craig has not been a milestone, but Bond villain is a role out of the ordinary.

    - It is obviously cool to be close to that apparatus. There are probably at least 500 people involved on site. I don't know what everyone is doing. Suddenly you see someone carrying a cable or hanging from the ceiling. It feels like you are doing an Olympic inauguration every day.

Thank you for the translation @Torgeirtrap , very much excited to see what he brings to the table. Seems like a genuine actor.

So, now we know NTTD filming locations include, Norway, Italy, London/UK and Jamaica. People know or are assuming that the story locations are, Norway, Italy, London, Cuba and Jamaica; five locations. Spectre had five story locations; Mexico, Italy, Austria (Altaussee & Hoffler clinic), Morocco (Tangier)/North Africa. Quantum had six, London, Italy, Haiti, Austria, Bolivia, Russia, and so did Skyfall; London, Turkey, Bond's beach hideaway, Shanghai, Macao, mystery island, Scotland (Skyfall). Casino had an amazing eight story locations; Prague, Pakistan (for the toilet kill), Uganda, Madagascar, Bahamas, Miami, Montenegro, and Venice.

If we look at just the 2nd unit and 1st unit location filming for those movies, there is no change for Spectre, but Skyfall drops two, Macao and the mystery island, both Pinewood backlot filming locations. Quantum's number falls only one as Russia was Pinewood backlot, while Haiti was filmed in Panama and Bolivia was actually Panama and Chile; so here is an example of multiple locations standing in for one. Casino loses the most with Pakistan (Pinewood), Uganda (Pinewood), Miami (Prague) and Miami airport (Prague and Surrey, UK), Montenegro was doubled by the Czech Republic. So, out of eight story locations, Casino only filmed in three, Nassau Bahamas, UK (Pinewood and Dunsfold Aerodrome Surrey), and Czech Republic.

At the moment NTTD has four filming locations, Norway, Italy, UK (London and Scotland) and Jamaica. We know Jamaica and Pinewood filming also double for Cuba. It looks like the Faroe islands could be a fifth filming location. But, it could be that NTTD, like Quantum, will see multiple locations doubling for one. From the car number plates seen, I think coastal Norway and Scotland are actually Russia and the Faroe islands might become Russia too; but I think the snowy Norway scenes are actually Norway.

So, we know Norway is about 15 minutes into the film and Matera is from about 20 minutes into the film to almost 40 minutes. Jamaica is expected by 50 minutes and Cuba not long after. Bond is definitley in Cuba by 75 minutes and that apparently lasts until Bond gets to London at 97 minutes; is 22 minutes too long in Cuba, as long as Matera? After London, the assumption is Bond goes to Norway, which I think is Russia. And as far as we know the film ends there. But where is the PTS? The theory was Matera was the PTS but the clapperboards have shot that down. Does NTTD have as many story locations as Casino? It's possible.

I'm not so sure I agree 100% with your policework....

This is in reference to a single action sequence. I can't imagine a 50 minute action sequence in a Bond film. I assume the Twitter guy - who seems legit - is stating that the action sequences will exclusively use IMAX.

Also, the same dude posted this:

So.....it looks as though @antovolk has been right for months and months - the trailer is attached to Joker.

Also, great video. Is it just me, or does anyone else just see James Bond and not Daniel Craig? He has really nailed this role.

    @Someone

Excellent. There are a lot of scenes we have heard about that still need to fit in. Where does Blofeld and the so-called interview with Swann fit in? How about the scenes at Porton Down? And no-where-to-be-seen-during-production Malek? And then there was a truckdriver delivering goods to Pinewood that oversaw them shooting Bond running around some containers.

This is like trying to solve a puzzle with half of the bricks missing. They haven't really fed us with the same amount of clapperboards like they did with SF and SP, so the PTS is anyones guess. Scene 10-15 in Norway could easily be right after the main titles.

The scenes the delivery driver saw with shipping containers are related to the 2nd unit filming which took place in Kingston, Jamaica

What really puzzles me is why Bond tries to secuce Lynch and probably also Paloma, when he is clearly very much in love with Swann, and she is still alive after Matera?

Could easily be filmed all on stage at Pinewood. Maybe a splinter unit will or have filmed establishing shots of the actual Porton Down. It wouldn't require first unit, and could be done quickly without to much fuss.
Malek is a mystery. And I really love that no-one knows.
