I don't know if all those who prefer DAD to SF are actually being serious, or if it's more a matter of making a statement of some sort...

Could be. There is a lot of disdain for Mendes, and the Craig era lately.

Not necessarily. Some just prefer a more formulaic and light hearted fun entry, no matter how flawed it may be. Nothing wrong with that.

Oh sorry. I forgot to add IMHO at the end, to make sure I didn't hurt anyone's feelings...

LALD beats TMTWGG. I think I may enjoy watching the latter a tad more, but LALD is a better constructed film. It really came together for me as an experience the last time I watched it. Funny and sinister, not unlike DAF.

DAD beats SF. Mistakes and all, it sticks to the formula, and I prefer it for that. Also, Brosnan in DAD beats Craig in SF, Arnold beats Newman, Halle Berry beats (blank), John Cleese beats Ben Whishaw. Though I admit Bérénice Marlohe beats Rosamund Pike. But DAD has cars sliding through the ice; what a fantastic, stylish sight that is!

Lol my feelings are not hurt, it's just some are not able to grasp that other people won't necessarily agree with them.

I think both are really poor bond films, the only difference in my mind is that I can watch DAD as a stupid fun movie and be entertained while I don’t find myself very entertained during the grim dark plotless skyfall.

LALD over TMWTGG - These two are neck-and-neck for me, but lately I've been feeling the LALD love a bit more. I think it holds together a bit better than the latter, and though I do love Rog's TMWTGG performance, I think his debut here is in most ways equal.

SF over DAD - SF is mid-pack in my book, but the final hour of DAD is simply too ludicrous. Fifteen years on, I enjoy the fun, classic Bond formula, but Jinx and the robosuit spoil however 'fresh' that formula may now seem in the midst of the current era.

This is exactly how I feel about it and why I also picked DAD over SF.
In the end the entertainment value is more important than recognizing artistic value (?)

To me, SF is leaps and bounds ahead of DAD in both artistic value and entertainment value. DAD may be consistently entertaining for some, but to me it is a drag much of the way. Just having the action scenes doesn’t make it more entertaining. Not to me anyway.

LALD over TMWTGG - LALD is my #4 at the moment, while TMWTGG has always been in the 15-20 range.

SF over DAD - SF sits in the back half of the top 10, while DAD is in the 20's.

Sitting through DAD is a borefest sprinkled with uncomfortable, cringy moments. SF is entertaining.

@jobo, funny how some here have said the exact same thing, only with the movies switched. :)

One half of the World laughs at the other, and Fools are they all.

Everything is good or everything is bad according to the votes they gain. What one pursues another persecutes. He is an in-sufferable ass that would regulate everything according to his ideas. Excellences do not depend on a single man's pleasure. So many men, so many tastes, all different. There is no defect which is not affected by some, nor need we lose heart if things please not some, for others will appreciate them. Nor need their applause turn our head, for there will surely be others to condemn. The real test of praise is the approbation of famous men and of experts in the matter. You should aim to be independent of any one vote, of any one fashion, of any one century.

    Another landslide round.

    LALD beats TMWTGG 26-4

    SF beats DAD 23-7

    Round 3:

    TB vs NSNA

    and

    LALD vs CR

TB vs NSNA - like @Birdleson I enjoy NSNA, but TB is my firmly ranked #2 Bond film and therefore the winner is clear for me. Sean Connery is at the peak of his considerable powers as Bond in TB and the supporting cast & dialogue are absolutely first class. Add in a sublime John Barry score and victory is assured.

LALD vs CR - CR for the win, but it's damn close. CR hovers around 4 or 5 in my rankings and LALD is usually in the 9-10 slot. Both great films but CR is better & more game changing. Ask me in a few years and my mind may have changed however, as the Craig era is fast declining in my estimation as time proceeds and the longer it drags on.

Thunderball a million times over and I don’t even like thunderball.

Casino Royale by a million because it’s the best bond film. Live and Let Die is a standard good bond adventure but not ground breaking

    Another easy round for me:

TB over NSNA: I don’t hate NSNA, but I prefer all the EON Bond films. It has a few good parts, but cohesively pretty meh IMO. TB is a solid entry, and while not perfect, is still a very good Bond film. Has some of my favorite Bond girls and an amazing performance from Connery.

CR over LALD: I like LALD a lot, but CR is my #1 Bond film. Simply beats all the others for being too good.

    CR over LALD Even easier.

    TB > NSNA

NSNA is great Sunday night viewing, but TB is an adventure I would love to experience in person (except for getting shot in the foot)

    CR > LALD

LALD: Great debut for Rog'. A Bond film with voodoo, an amazing score and memorable characters.
CR: A modern classic, a new Bond golden age. That is, a golden age that lasts for one film.

TB with ease. NSNA has grown on me some, but still is nowhere near TB status, which remains in my Top 10. NSNA would still be 25 out of 25 if added to the Eon 24.

LALD over CR by the very slimmest of margins. This is making me want to do a re-ranking before the year is out.
