The film can be about 70-year old Bond in an intense game game of checkers with Blofeld.

Hmmm... perhaps Nolan for 25 and Campbell for 26 are the magic connections?

Nolan for 25, Villeneuve for 26.

That could be good. I’m still wary of Nolan but I think it is possible he could do well. Just please no Tarantino for Bond - ever.

Oh way worse. I can’t even imagine his style would work. I hate his style to begin with; it’d be way worse for Bond.

Tarantino is a great director. But, his style doesn’t fit the Bond saga no matter how hard he tries it. Tarantino produces pseudo-1970s crime films in whichever shape they come. His pitch for Casino Royale though was awful.

Imagine putting The Mamas and The Papas songs in the soundtrack. :))

    I would welcome a one-off tarantino Bond.

Ugh. If it has to happen please let it be after Craig.

Not until Bond enters public domain. And that’s a long time from happening.

No, Campbell should direct Bond 26. He has proven himself as the man to introduce a new Bond.

Besides, Tarantino career has been sliding downhill since Jackie Brown. He hasn't lived up to his reputation in over a decade.

I’ll never understand the appeal. It’s my thing that everyone loves but I just can’t.

You do realize he'd be 79 by 2022, don't you? He wouldn't have the energy for a big budget production to be the helm at like Bond. There's a reason The Foreigner was a bit weak.

I'd like Alexander Witt to direct. A nice in house choice.

Do you think he is rewriting Purvis & Wade's script or are they completely out?

I don't know, but we are all quite sure about how Nolan works and writes. Anyway, it's not unusual for Purvis & Wade to need another writers after their work.
Would you be surprised if they ended up announcing someone other than Nolan as the director?

    Right now, yes.

But this is show bussiness. Not the best example, but ask Kevin Spacey about All The Money in the World. That's Entertainment!

Christopher Plummer to direct Bond 25.

Well, he wouldn't be 79 until after Bond 26 had wrapped, his birthday is in October.

Just look what he achieved at 62, arguably too old and the oldest Bond director ever. Yes, a film widely considered top 5 in the Bond franchise by most people.

I don't believe there is a better choice on the planet for Bond 26. The man was built for this series, and he has expressed an interest in returning. He clearly hasn't ruled himself out.

George Miller was pushing 70 when he made Fury Road and Ridley Scott still churns out big budget films like clockwork.

I haven't seen The Foreigner (because for some reason a movie filmed and set in England that uses British/Irish politics as part of the story still has no sign of a UK release) but if it isn't great I doubt it has anything to do with his age, Campbell's always been a bit hit and miss with his films. But he's two for two with Bond so I don't see any reason to doubt that he couldn't deliver again.

Personally if Campbell was going to come back I'd rather it was for Bond 25. Him and Craig can finish what they started, then for Bond 26 complete Nolan led revamp.

Pushing 70 and Pushing 80 aren't the same thing by a wide margin. By 70, one still has an energy in this day and age (Stallone, for example). But, by 80, one has already gone ripe.

Yes, Campbell has always been hit and miss, but The Foreigner demonstrated he still had the energy for action. That should answer definitively any lingering doubts EON may have.

I thought The Foreigner was a strong, mature political thriller; any weaknesses are a result of budget restrictions.
I think Campbell's viability at the time would have to be evaluated closer to production . Hey, Clint is rounding 90 and still in the game.

@ggl007 Can you please tell us how reliable your sources are?

One is a film critic with "contacts". The other works in the industry.

Sorry, I can't say much more. Just remember that in April we published about Craig returning and he confirmed that on August.

We are cautious but we play our cards after a lot of thought...

You would think a film critic with contacts might want to write this up for their own publication/website/outlet. But stranger things have happened, I suppose.

not all critics are in the business of breaking scoops like that.

No, but if I were the critic's boss and I found out he had sat on a potential scoop (Nolan directing Bond 25), I wouldn't be pleased. Even if the critic doesn't break scoops, he should pass it on to his superiors rather than discuss it with a fan website.

Unless, of course, the critic did tell his boss, who didn't do anything with it.

    Name B25 “Property of a Lady”, then B26 should start with an E... B27 with a C, B28 with a T, B29 with an R, and finally B29 with an E again. How arty!

I will be very happy if Craig’s last is Property of a Lady or Risico.

    Nice!

They ought to just listen to us and use it! Risico is about as good though. I have most wanted The Property of a Lady since Bond 23 though. Kind of would prefer a longer title again for a change.
