Agreed 100%. He has zero screen presence. Very handsome fella, but more wooden than Woody Woodpecker. He's one of those fan choices that's like a greatest hits compilation. I imagine he'd bring nothing to the table. Craig brought gravitas, depth, danger, humanity and a huge kinetic energy to the role. Cavill has never displayed those things in any of his roles. He's Brosnan: Part II.

He was great as "Log" or whatever his name was in Fallout. He could be a good Gustav Graves but that's it.

Yes. I've struggled trying to figure out what Brosnan brought to the role that wasn't already ground covered by one of the previous Bonds (especially Moore). Cavill would be a cardboard cutout of Bond at best.

At least Brosnan had charm in spades and could act in a narural type of way, whereas Cavill seems artificial in many ways. Cavill basically is a handsome bastard with lots of luck.
  • Can't help feeling that Turner would have been the kind of guy they would have gone with pre-Craig but not post-Craig.

Craig seems to have possibly opened the doors for Eon to think outside of the box for Bond. Who knows? Maybe they'll completely change Bond's image and find someone with a big 1970's porno mustache?

They should look no further than this guy................my choice for the next James Bond.............

I don’t think I’ve seen Aidan Turner in anything. What would be a good movie to see his Bond potential?

But Brosnan was still lacking in charm compared to Connery or Moore. Cavill was good in The Man From Uncle....but that was a cool, stylish, glossy and shallow affair....the Bond role needs an actor with more than just the look and charm. Aka not Cavill or Brosnan types.

I feel the opposite actually. Babs was adamant on Craig, clearly she wanted change: leftfield Bond. Now we can return to classic Bond, once more.

True, but Connery (who combined it with danger and toughness) was a one off and indeed Moore had charm in spades, in a more gentleman type of way. Indeed, Bond needs the whole package.

No one is intimidating anyone around here, dear @NicNac , apart from the voting there are still different opinions about all of the choices, incl Cavill and Turner ;)

Stop intimidating me @JeremyBondon , I know my rights.

In all seriousness though, I do kind of agree with @BonSimonLeBon_1 about Turner. Maybe he has come along too late, and where he would have been a safe choice back in the day, now Eon may spread the net further afield.

Ha. I wouldn't dare against a mi6 mod. Indeed, in all seriousness, it could go either way. Either further afield or back to original Bond. May the best man win, I'd say.

I think Dan Stevens would make a good Moore type Bond. He comes across as effortlessly charming in interviews. He's got seriously good acting chops too. Imagine an old school Bond adventure with wit and levity starring him. Good stuff!!

My vote is for Aidan Turner

I find it funny how up to now some of the bookies favourites don't even have a vote, James Norton, Tom Hiddleston and Sam Heughan. I think it speaks volumes
  • Aidan Turner is in my mind the obvious choice for the next decade of films

For this type of Bond I’d go with Tom Hiddleston. The Night Manager being my evidence base.

The thing is even if Turner would mark a significant change from Craig’s Bond, that could be a welcome change and the series has done that kind of turnaround before, with the style of Moore giving way to the style of Dalton. True, Dalton wasn’t popular at the time for this move away from the more over the top, charming decade and change of Moore, but he’s seen today as a great Bond and a bit before his time.

One thing is for sure, I don't want a Craig wannabe. Just because that's virtually impossible. Craig is a phenomenon. Just like Connery was. And a wannabe would just be a poser, a poor man's blonde Bond with muscle. And I really don't want that. Let's go back to the classic form, if only to respect what Craig has brilliantly done.

Two characters who resemble Bond to an extent:
I'd recommend The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot

Also, And Then There Were None I can highly recommend

He does and here he is alongside our "beloved" Mathis, starring as Leonardo da Vinci in the new series 'Leonardo'
