https://hmssweblog.wordpress.com/2016/12/12/ny-post-ties-othello-bond-25-in-plan-to-get-craig-back/ is this bond 25 thread timeline worthy since there has been nothing for December?

I love that stealthy tune. Don Veca composed a similar tune to that for the intended PS2 version of TWINE that was later reused for 'Agent Under Fire'.

    • jake24
      jake24
Indeed. Lots of motifs from TWINE are heard in the AUF soundtrack. "Body Double" is arguably the most stealthy of Arnold's tracks, where Bond actually gets to do some spying.
    • ClarkDevlin
      ClarkDevlin
Indeed! And love it particularly for that reason.

He really got Arnold's style down perfectly.
    • ClarkDevlin
      ClarkDevlin
I liked the ambient themes when everything is calm and spooky... But, the action-oriented tracks aren't really good. They're more random hit of notes that perfectly describe what I hate about the modern soundtracks. That also said, The James Bond Theme's lack of presence bothers me personally.

Adding to that, however, Richard Jacques would be great for a Bond film composer.
    • jake24
      jake24
Definitely. His score is well crafted, atmospheric, and catchy, but most of his action scoring is more "following the moment" rather than telling a story. Arnold's CR score is similar in that sense.
    • Murdock
      Murdock
I like the action music. If the Bond theme was included in some of them it would have been amazing. It fits like a glove in SP's car chase.

      ClarkDevlin
A soundtrack that tells a story is nonexistent in the modern film music. All of them "follow the moment", and that's what bugs me to tell you the truth. Big time. It's one of the reasons I liked Arnold's TND best, and DAD the second.
    • Murdock
      Murdock
Arnold's Brosnan era scores were top rate. I enjoyed CR's and QoS's as well but nothing beat his original 3 scores. I'd kill for that to return to the series after the sonic wallpaper we had in the last two.

      ClarkDevlin
The first Bond video game score that felt cinematic and not ambient-like as in the preceding titles...

"Entering Peru" at the start is way too badass. I can imagine Bond making his entrance into the scene wearing sunglasses and a suit, looking dangerous all the way through as the music plays...
    • jake24
      jake24
Couldn't agree more. A badass game with an equally badass score.
    • ClarkDevlin
      ClarkDevlin
Jake, don't forget the 'City Chase' track where you have to smuggle Mya away from Yayakov's men, with an equally as dangerous limousine with a time bomb... or whatever it's called... Hell of a level and helluva of a soundtrack.

I always thought New Orleans was the best segment of 'Everything Or Nothing'. At least before infiltrating Yayakov's house...

If you haven't seen these, I've used music from Everything or Nothing in some of my Spectre rescores.

Miles better than much of what Newman brought to the table!

ClarkDevlin, definitely the best segment for the game, especially the Pontchartrain bit. Everything or Nothing just might be my favorite game of the Bond lore to revisit.

      ClarkDevlin
Love the efforts, Murdock! Job well done, my good man!

I revisited the game earlier this year, Jake. And it was a damn pleasure to do so... Try it on a PS2 Emulator on your computer and raise the graphic card standards... And thank me, later.

Agreed. It's time we get a composer who actually brings the thematic of Bond's melodic supreme spirit back into the spotlight.

Something tells me that might be too much to hope for, especially when the producers actually listened to Mendes and brought Newman back after the negativity the soundtrack of the preceding film hit online on fans' behalf.

      Murdock
I know, I can't stand them. How he became so popular for being generic is beyond me. Give me the likes of Barry and Goldsmith any day, they are the ones who should inspire contemporary musicians. I guess GOOD music is too good for movies these days...
