Would you forgo the Brosnan Era to add to the Dalton era?

    Crying is to me emotional, even though Bond had a good reason to, just like he had when going after Sanchez in LTK.

    it's hard to not pretend this isn't a Bond movie, when it featured a lead character named James Bond - and to suggest to do so is just a backhanded compliment...... much like saying you can enjoy DAD, if you remove all of the 2 hours that are completely terrible.

    Brosnan can't be faulted for the way his 4 films turned out. I think having a revolving door of 4 different directors really hurt his development in the series. Also, the writers for those four films weren't so hot: Bruce Feirstein, Michael France, Purvis and Wade. If we could have had one director, the Brosnan era and Brosnan's legacy would have been improved. Things just went off the rails with TND forward. I can't help but blaming the producers...So would I forego the Brosnan era? No if it meant we could get a more consistent crew.

    I thought he looked fine. Little on the light side but ok - and Ive never had a problem with his hair. Nice pic btw ;) He was at his best looks wise in TND and TWINE though.

    was Brosnan dealt a bad hand on his outings?.. without question... there were some questionable directing choices made - which lead to some questionable story decisions.... but in the end, Pierce played ball... and the one time he wanted his way - and they gave it to him - he dropped the ball big time.

    Whatever he was wearing that car chase was a wasted opportunity. And the music could have been a lot better too. If this car chase wasn´t up to par, then why not have one with the BMW? Both that and the DB5 had gadgets, and still none were used...

    I guess they thought that the tank chase was enough. And indeed it was spectacular.

    Yeah, the cravaat is so subtle you barely even notice it. And yes, Dalton was probably the least fashionable of all the Bonds. Pierce could have used a trim in GE, but he sure looked suave in a tux.

    I've never had an issue with his hair but he did look a little on the lite side physically in parts of GE. I still think he moved very well though. I like the way he floats on his back in the pool with his eyes closed then gets out and walks towards the saunas before meeting Xenia. Very slick!

    Dalton looked good in TLD but he perhaps wasn't given the best wardrobe in Kill.

    Baggy? :-? Dalton dressed more casual/appropriate for the situation, in both films.

    Perhaps but he certainly has "big hair" in the pic above.

    I've heard people be critical of LTK because Dalton wore "lose fitting clothes".

    Someone in the swedish forum I come from once described Dalton´s appearance in the casino in LTK as that he looks like he needs to go to the toilet.

    The films would have to be completely different for Dalton's reign not to have taken a nosedive had he stayed on under the baton of Babs. Maybe the question to me would be more along the lines of whether I'd prefer four rubbish films with great Dalton performances or not. Even Dalton may not have saved those four films because, in my opinion, the series went backwards into lazy nostalgia and really half-arsed scripts which didn't hold a candle to a script and story as strong as The Living Daylights. With no Richard Maibaum, no Cubby and no John Barry, I fear that Dalton himself would be the only thing I'd really like if he'd gone on to make four more films under the new regime. But, if MGW had chosen to continue in the harder-edged vein of LTK and keep Dalton on board minus the female M, frosty Moneypenny, rubbish music scores, redundant nostalgia and gimmick/button-pushing overkill, I'd have been a very happy man. Dalts was brilliant in the role, right up there with George Lazenby in giving us a believable human James Bond, and to this day it still sickens me that he only got to make two films.

    All true, sadly quality acting and performance don't always equate to a successful run. The people demands different things at different times. When Mikey decided to bring in Dalton, he clearly liked the serious nature of the character, as pointed out in the making of. The character didn't prove all that popular in the 80s. He brought a re-vamped version in 2006 with Craig and it took off. Unfortunately for us, it was the soap-opera explosion fest and soulless scripts that were "in" throughout the late 90s, Vin Diesel-type, and we sure got those scripts with the acting that went along with it in Brosnan. Some say the series should have died in the 70s with Connery and remain "true", I would have been quite happy with an end in GE with a 3rd Dalton flick of that was the cost.

    Look at his hair in GE and then look at it in the Remington Steele stills. Honestly it isn't that bad. Why do fans whine over this?

    I just don't think his hair looked all that bad. I'm hardly an expert in fashion anyway so my opinion is useless.

    Maybe its just me but - as dashing as Dalton looks here - he's got a bigger head of "80s hair" than Brozza has in GE:



    (p.s. Caroline Bliss is still lousey :) )
