007's Coldest/Ruthless Moments.....

    Which moments per Bond was the coldest,most ruthless of their films - either an actual cold-blooded kill or an action that he performed.

    I feel these are pretty cold merciless Bond moments.

    Connery: The killing of Prof.Dent - DN .
    Lazenby: Holding down the skier and stopping him from breathing with a ski while Blofeld and his men go past. - OHMSS
    Moore : Kicking the car over the cliff with Locque still inside - FYEO.
    Dalton : The encounter with General Pushkin in Tangiers - TLD.
    Brosnan: Killing of Doctor Kaufmann in Berlin - TND
    Craig : Bond leaving Greene in the desert - QOS

    I think Brosnan actually has quite a few 'cold' moments which are often overlooked by fans:

    GE - going to shoot Alec but being hit by the tranqueliser dart, dropping Alec off the antenna.
    TND - killing Kaufmann, Carver.
    TWINE - killing Electra in cold blood.
    DAD - Instantly going to shoot Frost after hearing she is the mole.

    I think one of the best though is probably Moore's car-kicking scene.\Its ironic Moore didn't like filming it. I'd argue however that moments such as these were the exception rather than the rule in the Moore era.

    I also liked the 'you earned it, you keep it...old buddy' moment in LTK.

Thou shall recommend you take upon further investigation that Mr. Connery's assassination of Dent is known to traverse chills down they cells of blood in thoust body!     Dent's death in DN
    Bond kicking Locque off of the cliff in FYEO
    Sanchez's death in LTK
    Bond leaving Greene to die in the middle of the desert.

    One of my favourite ruthless moments is in Casino Royale when Bond stabs Dimitrios at the Bodyworlds exhibit in Miami. Particularly after he's dead when Bond pats him on the cheek.

    I rather like Bond's killing of Slate. He makes such a charismatic face, checking if anyone by chance noticed the kill. Shoving a knife in a man's body much be a pretty filthy thing to do I can imagine; well Bond just did it.

    There are 2 good one in TND:

    When Bond kills Kaufman and when he lets Craver get diced up by his drill

    Also in DAD when he attempts to kill Frost immedietly after hearing she's the mole.

    He certainly was quick with the gun and yes, I rather like that. The problem is I don't buy that Bond didn't check his gun when he took it from under the pillow. Either she took out the bullets and he should have felt that or she somehow jammed the mechanism in which case it was unprofessional of him not to check that when he holstered the P99.

    Haha, thats called nit-picking. I just liked that fast, almost impulsive move by Bond.

    I also nit-pick about the empty gun in CR not keeping the chamber open for quick reloading. I like the Bonds to get their gun stuff right.

    @BAIN123 No sir, when Mollaka and Bond confront each other on top of the crane, Mollaka tries to shoot Bond. The gun's empty though. Being the type it is, it should have looked like this when empty:

    Coldest/Ruthless moments dominate LTK and QOS and imho come across much better in LTK. In particular, the killing of Killifer by the shark and the 'don't you want to know why' line with Sanchez.

    Does anyone else think they missed a chance to deliver an almighty coldest/ruthless moment in DAF?

    Blofeld has just killed Bond's wife and although Bond 'gets him' (several times!), I feel the film fails to portray Bond as cold or ruthless in his revenge. What do you think?

    It's been discussed many times here, but DAF was a very poor followup to OHMSS. DAF became a parody of a Bond film.

    Connery - The killing of Dent in Dr No
    Lazenby - The chocking to death in the snow
    Moore - Only one really, the killing of Loque
    Dalton - Having Sanchez kill Krest
    Brosnan - The attempted shooting of Frost
    Craig - Killing Dryden without hesitation

    @BAIN123 I know the Kaufmen scene was supposed to be cold but it was played so ...not poorly but ...well it just wasn't cold for me. The actor playing Kaufman was given to much of a laughable attitude.

    I thought it was pretty cold myself... Bond shooting an unarmed man in revenge for a loved ones death.

    As for Kaufman, I know people are mixed but I thought there was something weird and creepy about him, as well as comic. Personally I liked that scene.

    Vincent Schiavelli was the actors name.

    All the ones that have been mentioned plus...I think just about every one of Craig's kills was a ruthless one. The killing of the two cops in Bolivia is one of my personal favorites. Shoots one with the other's gun and then throws the first cop on the group and delivers the old point-blank to the face.

    I also like the killing of Dimetrius. Another chilling one. Especially with Craig's expression right after. Great acting on his part there.

    I think my favorite of all time, though, is not even a kill. The ending scene of Casino was brutal Bond bliss. Not just cold apathy. Bond enjoyed that bit of revenge...as would I, I admit. It's just one of my favorite scenes.

    Maybe I'm just getting desensitized to all the killing in the Bond films because for me James Bond's coldest/ruthless moments tend to be the scenes when he is cruel to women, maybe this is because we are so used to him being charming and chivalrous.

    Sean Connery: Hitting Tatiana Romanova in FRWL.
    Roger Moore: Confronting and manhandling Andrea Anders in TMWTGG.
    Timothy Dalton: Holding a knife to Lupe Lamora's throat in LTK.
    Daniel Craig: Leaving Solange mid seduction after he gets a new lead in CR.

    The Kaufman scene for sure. Not so much the "Diced-up Carver" scene. I always thought Carver had the time to duck, step-aside or simply run but instead just stood there paralyzed awaiting his fate. :-(
