    Yeah, I noticed a lot of votes in favor of FYEO in the past few posts. I really do love Goldfinger, and it contains a lot of iconic moments, but the scene with Locque's death and the finale of FYEO totally do it for me. Really enjoyable.


    Indeed, FYEO's action sequences out-do Goldfinger's in too many respects. There's more of them and they are better in quality I believe. The only one that might come close is the Fort Knox battle against the battle at St. Cyril's, but the rock climbing scenes in the latter make me choose it over Fort Knox.

    Really?

    I practically worship GE but even I admit GF is probably the better film.

    Oh well. Each to their own!

    I usually 'watch' Goldfinger with my eyes shut - it's better that way, or if I can't sleep at night, in no time at all I'm sound asleep after about 20 minutes with that on

    For Your Eyes Only is streets ahead in terms of action and suspense, Moore does a fine job, Carole Bouquet is a trillion times better than the awful Blackman (Galore) and there's so much to see and get involved in, that simply doesn't happen in Goldfinger until the very end, it was a very straightforward decision - in that For Your Eyes Only wins this round with ease

    FYEO definately,unlike other Connery films,GF and DAF i just do not get on with,and are very over-rated.

    I really want to vote on this, I think I know which one I prefer but want to give it another few weeks, so I've seen them both again. I'm just sorry I can't add another vote to that film.

    The Bond vs. Goldfinger dialogue is brilliant, Honor
    Blackman and Shirley Eaton are smoking hot sexy, the PTS though ambiguous and weird was thrilling culminating in the ending fight, and this suit is absolutely magnificent:

    Pussy Galore is just... stupid. "You can turn off the charm, I'm immune." and then she's fallen in love with Bond practically by their next scene together.

    "Gawldfinguh!" I've described my disdain for this song many many times over, and the sheer mention of it's name turned off the power in my friend's house (true story).

    "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!" is Goldfinger's only claim to fame, and his only good line. Other than that...

    I really have nothing bad to say about the gold lady and her sister (who's names escape me), only that they were underused.

    The PTS just... sucks. The only good thing is Sean in the white tux that he made famous and didn't wear a whole lot.

    Felix was just crap in that film, and didn't do much.

    They forgot to fix the "Three more ticks..." line.

    This is a tough one. FYEO has grown on me a lot more over the years as I rewatch. It has some great action set pieces (I still think the ski chase is one of the best 007 action set pieces) and probably Moores finest performance as 007, and far better locations than GF. However - I am going to vote for GF. While the action might not be as spectacular as FYEO I prefer the overall tone. Connery is great in this as 007 - we have a great score by John Barry a superb and classy PTS, Shirley Bassey singing the great title song, a cool villain and plenty of memorable moments - the laser, the ejector seat, oddjob,and a stunning fort knox set during the climatic sequence. oh yeah - and an old lady firing a machine gun as 007 escapes in his classic DB5...GF gets my vote...
