This matchup is at an Ali-Frazier in Manila level.

I'll say FRWL because Kerim would have never knocked out his daughter.

    This one's hard:
    6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    5. Dr. No
    4. Octopussy
    3. From Russia With Love but I'll go with FRWL

FRWL all the way, if this were a boxing match it would have to be stopped in the first round.

Sjoe! Tough one but have to go with my favourite Bond movie.

    FRWL wins.

    List of ratings.
    FRWL - 1
    OHMSS - 3.
  • Another tough matchup of my #4 versus my #6. FRWL for me.

I've pondered over this for the last couple of days, and the result is...

    From Russia With Love.

FRWL: 27 votes (A new record!)
    OHMSS: 10 votes

And we have finally found the first Bond movie to slay OHMSS! Congratulations to FRWL for being the first to beat it in this discussion. Now we know the answer to one of the most thought-about questions on this forum!

All righty, let's keep moving along to the next round.

    Thunderball vs. License to Kill

    This might be interesting!
  • FRWL showed true valor and brilliance, as expected. :)

For this here, we have two spectacular Bonds, and two who didn't mess up the character like some other actors in the series /:) . Two really intense plots with great acting by Sean and Tim respectively, but it has to be TB for me. Sean as always elevates everything, the risk of nuclear war, the 00s meeting on a brilliant Ken Adams set, great Bond girls, exotic locales, Q in the field, Bond in awesome casual wear, and the best Bond villainess in the series with Fiona along with great lines and moments. No question about it, but Tim puts up a damn good fight with LTK.

I'll go for License to Kill on the grounds that I loved it at first viewing back in 8th grade, and my opinion of it really never changes. TB sometimes goes roller-coaster with me, it all depends on when I watch it and if I'm feeling the Bondness, but I never have that problem with LTK, so it's an easy win. Let it be said though, TB is top-ten worthy, and is in my top 3 Connery Bonds.

I have to go with LTK. The definitive Dalton performance (granted, there were only two). TB is more fun for sure, but LTK is more memorable for me. Fleming's Bond at his best. And the action in it is still spectacular.

LTK gets my vote. It's always been one of my favorites while TB just drags too much for me.

I'll have to go classic. TB just has so much more to offer: Sean, 2 beautiful Bond girls in Fiona and Domino, excellent John Barry score, Terrence Young direction, sublime cinematography, the Bahamas, a bigger and more threatening world domination plot. A classic James Bond experience all around. In fact, I can't think of a single area where LTK is superior: maybe the action, but that's about it.

I'm surprised TB is losing this one so far!

LTK. My favourite film. Best Bond, best villian, 2nd best Bond girl, awesome stunts, gritty plot but still has a sense of Bond, a great film.

Dalton is at his most badass and gives the best performance of the series, Sanchez is the best villian, the revenge plot is awesome and original, there are gadgets but it's not too mental, a great film.

Definitely Thunderball. It's first generation Bond cinema at its most spectacular apex. Connery at the top of his super-confident form, Terence Young's direction, early to mid 1960s ambience, John Barry music and especially the best gallery of Bond girls to appear in a single Bond film seal the deal for me.

Ooh, this is a good battle with plenty of parallels.

TB has the women and underwater scenes, where LTK has the villians and the rogue Bond.

TB is my #4 and LTK is my #5.

I'm going to go with TB because I didn't confuse Talia Soto for Claudine Auger.
  • Thunderball

Both great films. But the performance given by Connery in TB has yet to be surpassed by any successor actor in terms of performance in a given film. Connery is majestic and masterful, his walk into the casino swaying this battle for me.

TB without question. Connery defined alpha male, my favourite Bond girl in Fiona Volpe, bahamas, under water battles etc. Bond Mania!

TB. It wins on so many levels that LTK loses on, with the exception of Q. Q was far better in LTK than he was in TB, where he's in one scene.
