I really, really hope that the Batman reboot isn't another origin story. We've seen it with BB, they should just do a film like the 1989 Batman, where he's Batman from the beginning.

The new Jack Reacher film, idk. Cruise is the last person I would've thought of as Reacher. Reacher in the books killed a man with a punch to the head, he's meant to be a giant. I'll probably see it but I don't think it'll be very good.

What do you folks think of Top Gun 2 happening? I love Val, but I doubt he will be in it. Anyone have info?

Everything gets dug up at one point of another in time, so Top Gun had to be on that list some day. At least Tony Scott is directing again, that may give the film a chance.

Top Gun itself will be out re-released in 3D this year. No date as of yet.

Apparently, they're doing 'Top Gun 2' before 'M:I-5,' which is a shame, because I'm eager for another M:I already.

I doubt we'll see another Mission: Impossible until 2016 at the earliest which is a real shame as the last one was so good. It was said to be on the 'fast track' but with Top Gun 2 coming first, that can't be the case.

I feel like if Cruise devotes enough of his schedule to do the two back-to-back, it could work a little sooner than 2016. But he's not one to rush himself, and I respect that.

Here's the trailer for 'The Silver Linings Playbook':
    http://www.slashfilm.com/silver-linings-playbook-trailer/

First look at Chloe Moretz in character, along with the full synopsis of the remake of 'Carrie':
    http://www.slashfilm.com/carrie/

@Risico007, I read that Bale would like to return for a fourth, if they could do it, but I also believe that Nolan is done - he's given us a trilogy, and I doubt after all of the success of the films that they will stop. We will get a reboot or a sequel with another cast and crew in a few years, I imagine.

I'm Just nervous as what villain they will choose apparently WB really wants to do a Batman film with the Riddler as a villain a villain that honestly the older I get the more I dislike. That being said I'd watch said film and probably enjoy it.

Maybe more sequels, but Nolan himself might be finished with that series, ready to move on.

He said his peace, told his story. And Nolan never beats a dead horse, no matter how much money it could make.

I'm holding out hope for a 4th Nolan film if he can find a villain that interests him Like Bane does he'll do it otherwise it's not happening. We'll see what happens

No, Nolan ends it with no possibilities of more sequels.

Sorry to burst your bubble, the the post-Nolan Batman reboot is already under works for a 2015 release.

I know that. That Batman very likely won't be in the Nolanverse though.

I thought the 2015 was just a rumor I mean I'd love a new Batman film in 3 years from now even if the villain is the Riddler.

and i thought "The Batman was just a title a fan had made up I wouldn't mind it if it is the actual title...I'll start a thread in the winter after the Dark Knight rises is released (unless someone beats me to the punch)

It's a trilogy, they'll have no way to continue it. It would be like doing The Lord Of The Rings 4. WB are rebooting it with a new film planned anywhere between 2017 and 2022 according to insiders.

I heard the 2015 date at the latest 2016 but nothing post that.

Oh and my news to give to the world... words don't begin to descibe how upset i am over this but here ya go

  • Like I've said, Nolan will wrap this film up so that nothing can follow, and so that no other future films from different teams can continue on from it and ruin it.

So in 2015 we'll have to sit through how Bruce Wayne became Batman once again ?

Not necessarily, a la Tim Burton. And that film was good!

No I heard that it will take placve in Year 2 (did a recent google) which would mean no origin story.

Great post @forgotmyusername. I can always count on Kevin for an interesting time. I wonder if some of his vulgarity and insults against Burton and the publicist made the school choose to end his talks with the students.

I want them to give us a new villain. Don't get me wrong, 'The Dark Knight's version of The Joker was excellent and all, but I'm tired of seeing the same few villains over and over. What next, a reboot of the story of Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the Riddler? Give us someone new, like The Great White Shark or something.

I have read some of Lee Childs novels and so far his Jack Reacher and Tom Cruises version do not seem to click for me.

Precisely, @Creasy. Part of why I respect Nolan so much is because he didn't take the easy way out in his first Batman film. He brought us villains in Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul that had never gotten proper exposure in Batman films, and did innovative things with them. Then at BB's end we get a wink at Joker, and get a new take on that character as well, like we will get a new spin on Selina and Bane, who is finally portrayed correctly as the tactical genius he is. Can't wait for TDKR, in what will be a bittersweet moment of rejoice in all that Nolan has given Batman fans, but sadness at its conclusion.

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, I can't wait to see it. I'm going to Ocean City on the 21st of this month, and spending the day before attending a showing of the film at my local Alamo Drafthouse.

The reboot has no year assigned to it at present. 2015 is too soon anyway.

Insiders say 2017 - 2022 is the target as WB need to figure out what to do, first. I've know I've said this many times now, but there's no harm in repeating myself.

I know I've already said it, but I really can't take Cruise seriously as Reacher, he's the last person that comes to mind when you think of which actor should play him.

The Carrie remake looks decent enough. Chloe Mortez is a good actress.

With the December release, something seems to think this will follow last year's Mission: Impossible. Can it be as good or big?
  • My worry is that Tom will pile on spy film after spy film, where he just looks like Ethan Hunt in every single release instead of the character he is supposed to play, which isn't easy at all the surmount. It is just like Jeremy Renner, spreading himself wide in the spy film genre, or Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds, who have/going to be playing more than one superhero at a time in films.

Reacher isn't really a spy though, he's an ex military tough guy turned drifter who sort of just wanders about exploring America, and gets into bad situations or meets people that need help.

So that's a newer trailer to the new trailer of the Russian version of the trailer? I see.

They shelled them out pretty quick.
  • What's the Russian trailer like?

It was the first trailer, only (I suppose) in Russian and released a few days before the debut of the high-res one, in English. My internet has been off for a few days because of the storms to the east of the States, so I'm not sure which debuted when, and which is considered 'new.' The one I watched earlier was like the one you posted, excluding the fight at the very end and I think a random shot or two.

Oh, and while not 'soon,' per se, Marvel is planning 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film for 2014:
