Silva's rat speech stands out for me. Curious to hear what the rest of you think.

    Is this about monologues in general, or are you focusing more on the villain's monologues? We already have a thread for the latter, but I don't see why this can't stay open for monologues in general. If it's the former, I'll continue it with saying that Silva's monologue is one of the high points in SF for me, as is M's monologue during the court meeting, with intercutting shots of Bond running through the streets as she quotes Tennyson.

    Another favorite of mine is Trevelyan in the statue graveyard. His words are so deep and cold that you can tell it's hitting Bond just as hard as the fact of him still being alive is.

    My favorite would be Alec's speech during the GoldenEye climax. He's so arrogant and smug. He thinks he's already won but Bond always had him in the palm of his hand.

    My top 2 would be Silva's opening speech and Alec's statue park monologue.

    I want to say Grant in FRWL but I'm not sure I'd class that as a monologue.

    Zorin explaining his plan to the tycoons and Drax's speech on the space station. Oh and Blofeld explaining his plan to use virus omega in OHMSS.

    Scaramanga's "dual between titans" speech too.

    While by no means the best Elliot Carver's "hold the presses" speech always amuses me

    Ah, I see. I like that one too, but maybe it's because I really like Carver as a villain...

    M.'s lecturing of Bond in her apartment in CR stands out to me.

    Same with the hotel scene in QOS... "When you can't tell your friends from your enemies, it's time to go."

    Surely it's a train? Doesn't it cut from an exterior shot to the restaurant car?

    @DarthDimi, I think her monologue in that was a really great way to cement her as something more than 'a female M.' She nailed it, showing that she does indeed have the balls to do what is necessary to finish the job, and she won't be pushed around. Any doubt was silenced there.

    A damned good actress who really made her role as M memorable as well as showing a strong authoritative but fair character

    It was, I'm sorry. Final Destination was on TV, so my mind was other places. Haha.

    Totally agree with you. All the people I've been talking to thinks it's awful... If it was'nt for that part, the film would barely be watchable...

    The final scene of QOS really stands out. This could have been in one of Fleming's books - it's that strong. A bit Bourney, but still good. ;-) This scene and those couple of shots from Bregenz are what I look forward to each time I plug in QOS.

    Well, the guy I talked too said it "dragged" and "slowed down the movie"....

    It's a good thing something slowed that film down. ;-)

    Here's how I experience the PTS:

    Water.face.car.something.wheel.something.nose.car.something.police.gun.wheel.Bond.something.Sienna.

    So yes, that final scene was necessary to convince me that I wasn't going berserk. :-)
