James Bond Bargains

Hope I'm ok to start this thread but thought it may be worthwhile to have somewhere that we can tell others about places we can pick up any 007 items at a bargain price, whether it be stores on their town/city or even online.

Now I know that members of the board are from around the world but I'm hoping that something like this could be helpful to some.

The first one I would like to let people know of is that the James Bond Omnibus Volume 1 is currently only £1.99 on The Works bookstores in the UK. Which came in very handy as I didn't already have it but now has a place on my bookshelf.

    Good idea for a thread.

We received a tip that Best Buy is selling Blu-Ray "Casino Royale" (1967) for $9.99.

We are unable to corroborate this but it may be of interest to a few people on here. Do report back if you take advantage of the offer.

I picked up Roger Moore's "My Word is My Bond" hardcover for $3.82 plus $3.49 shipping, ($7.31 total) from an Amazon.ca affiliate. Good deal!

HMV Canada had all Eon Bond blu-rays except for QoS and CR in the 2 for $15.00 bin last week. Even NSNA was selling separately for $9.99.

What this means is I won't be biting on whatever initial price the next round of Bond blu-rays are released at. I'll wait for the bargain bins. There is only so much demand for the Bond blu-rays considering most people that want the movies already have them.
Only die-hards must have the blu-ray too at full new blu-ray release price.
The only way to sell the next round of Bond blu-rays I think is to launch at $9.99 each, otherwise I think they will be collecting dust on store shelves.
I'll buy right out of the box at $9.99 but no higher.

In addition to 007JB's opening post about The Works, they were recently selling the 2nd Edition of Devil May Care for £1.99, reduced from £3.99. Even though it's not a favourite of mine, I couldn't pass up the chance of a +1 to my Bond book collection.

Great idea for a thread. Carte Blanche was only £5 when I bought my copy in store at Tesco last week.

Yup, I noticed a couple of days after its launch it was on sale for the same price in Sainsbo's. Looks like they'd sold out the following day, mind.

For anyone who lives in and around London, I can't rate the VinMag shop in Soho highly enough - it sells some Bond paraphernalia (especially photos etc) and holds autograph signings with former Bond actors quite regularly. It's a great place for general retro colletibles too...

for those Bond fans who are stateside....

i recently went into my local Barnes And Nobel - and reserved my copy of Carte Blanche - and while checking the bargain shelf, i noticed they had the hard cover edition of Devil May Care on sale... i could not confirm the price though - but it was on sale...

** note ** i live about 20 miles east of Cleveland, OH.. so prices may vary obviously.... but if you don't own the book yet, and want to add it to your collection, it could be worth checking into..

    -- ** EDIT ** --

I went back in (to pick up The Man With The Golden Gun and one of the Bond/Benson Collections).. and i double checked the price - it's $5.99 for the hard back..

Another one for the UK members of the board.

A shop called Bargain Book Time here in Lancaster (not sure how many of these there may be nationwide) are currently selling the James Bond Encyclopedia (Which includes QOS) for the price of £7.99. I for one will be taking up the offer tomorrow.

For anyone living down under, picked up a few Bond blu-rays from Target today for the very special price of $12.99.
    FRWL,GF,TB,FYEO,TWINE and DAD available.
Still not a bad price at all, so I took advantage.

Best Buy Canada today had the original Bond blu-ray 3 paks. Volumes 1-3 selling for $19.99 each. Compare with their original retail pricing of $49.99 to $59.99.

Cheap cheap cheap and they had lots of supply. That's $6.67 per blu-ray movie. Better than the bargain bin.

Actually this info is all wrong. Got the book in the mail today and double checked the invoice. Its from the Dallas Public Library. Somebody is buying used books for loose change from the Library and selling them cheap on Amazon.
Anyway what I actually paid was 30 cents plus $6.49 shipping. Total $6.79. Still a good deal even if it is a public library copy with all their stickers on it.
There are plenty of others available I notice from various sellers for 1 cent plus shipping. The profit is clearly in the shipping mark-up.

I've added this thread to the right hand "announcements" as it will easily get lost with the minimal discussion this kind of topic calls for.

Please do continue to share your finds, they are invaluable.

The popular online videogame download platform Steam has slashed the retail price of the latest two James Bond titles to be released on the PC as part of the current 'midweek madness'.

Steam have cut 66% off both James Bond: Blood Stone (now $13.60) and Quantum of Solace (now $6.80) through Thursday at 4pm Pacific Time.

Blending first person shooting and third person cover combat, both James Bond: Blood Stone and Quantum of Solace puts you in control of Bond's greatest weapon — his mind.

Now that it's not such a new release and no doubt the opening offers are gone I've just seen Carte Blanche for very slightly under a £10 not on Amazon.

Be VERY careful when dealing with this business. I've found them to be very unscrupulous. You don't want to be ripped off.

if your ever curious about a websites authenticity, I just google the domain and ad "reviews" to google search, I usually figure it out, but if your not sure, then I wouldn't gamble on it.

    Great thread idea!
I run into all kinds of great deals and it's nice to have a place to share them, and I will!

Just bought For Your Eyes Only by Ben Macintyre for £1.99 in The Works in the uk. Oddly it seems to be the US hardback edition. Anyhow, this surely counts as a bargain.
