All-around Bond Fans

I am a bit of an oddity in that I have almost no preference to my Bond. I love the gritty Craig movies, I love the goofy Moore movies, I love the espionage thriller-esque Connery movies, the Fleming-esque Dalton movies, the explosive Brosnan movies and the black sheep that is OHMSS.

Are there any others that love all the Bond films, regardless of tone or actor ?

I do. While I may have a gripe every now and then, I love every Bond movie. :)

Sure thing - every actor brings a limitless something special to the role and makes it his and I personally see little point in having favourites and hate for one or another who was/is Bond. What differentiates them is the quality of the actual film through storyline plot/effects and writing/directing. Then it's possible to like one FILM more than another but I love them all.

I grew up with RM and was blown away by TSWLM/MR and FYEO and lost enthusiasm a bit for OP. TD's films were fantastic and I wish he'd done a few more. Along the way I grew to get into SC's films and now have equal feelings for him as Bond that I maybe didn't at the outset. OHMSS blew me away when I first saw it around the time I was getting into Bond and the film is still my favourite for every aspect - so what if GL is a bit deadpan or wooden. PB and DC are both excellent Bonds too though the middle PB films seem eminently forgettable sadly, not something l can say for Craig's.

There can only be a select few that can actually say with hand on heart that they love or greatly enjoy all of the James Bond titles

We're all Bond enthusiasts, but for sure there's been some awful releases along the way suich as AVTAK and Diamonds are Forever for example. I appreciate every Bond that has played the part, from Connery up to Craig, but they've been involved in some truly disappointing releases, that wasn't always down to them. License to Kill and QOS would be two prime examples. Good Bond films are Good Bond films wherever you find them, but unfortunately there's been one or two questionable entries into the franchise, so therefore can't buy into it that everyone may love everything the series has had to offer. I think 'love' may be too strong a word for me for any James Bond title, but would say I greatly enjoy releases such as Live and Let Die, Moonraker, TMWTGG and Dr No for example

I pretty much enjoy all the Bond films. Obviously, I like some more than others, and I'm not shy about pointing out the flaws I perceive in any one of them, but I get a kick out of all of them (even DAD).

Sadly, I cannot make myself watch MR or AVTAK again (yet).
But all others entertain me on some level!

Yes. I also don't rank the movies. I have films that I see as being objectively better, while others I view more frequently, but there isn't a Bond I dislike. I think each one has made it's own decent contribution to Bond-lore. I spent most of my childhood watching at least one film a day and if I'd skipped school that would probably be up to 5, with multiple back to back viewings of the same film, on occasion. The whole series is so engrained in my brain that I assume the familiarity adds a sense of contentment. I'm still the six year old wannabe James Bond that I always was. And Yes, I did want to be a 57 year old man, fighting atop the Golden Gate Bridge.

And shagging a twentysomething blonde in the shower.

I can pass on Grace Jones though - that should be no ones dream.

Absolutely. That's still one of my favourite Roger moments.

    Agreed on Jones.

Really??? I would say that lots of Bond fans love every single piece of Bond out there. And I mean every comic, song, book, even spoof about Bond...

I really enjoy every Bond film. Of course, I have my preferences and my top is a Top-7 with a tie-in between seven films of four! different actors.

For every moment and every time in your life, we have a Bond... ;) :D

This is a very salient point.

Sometimes you just feel like a Rog romp, sometimes you want Lazenby perfection, sometimes you want pure Dalton grimness and sometimes you're in the mood to see Charles Grey hamming it up in DAF.

And yes on occasion I have thought to myself 'I have a whim to put DAD on'. Not that often though.

I've done that too. Quite recently actually :(

I can't say that I love all of the films but I do appreciate every actor's interpretation of the role.
  • I think all the Bond actors are great and each one was perfect for the time they were cast.

I don't think all the films are great but I can enjoy them all in some way or another.

The last bit would seem accurate, as whatever material it provides for any given release, there's really no such thing as a boring Bond film (Goldfinger aside), and they all provide entertainment at one stage or another. One such example would be Tomorrow Never Dies. It's an overall poor release, but the first half is almost enjoyable and there's lots to get involved in

Truly enjoyable and affectionate Bond releases for me would be again, Dr No, Live and Let Die, TMWTGG, Moonraker, even Octopussy to an extent, TWINE, and possibly Casino Royale and Skyfall - but there's no one single title I could say I "love" - because that would be lying. The closest thing to it, would be Live and Let Die for real tangible affection

  • I'd say the films I love would probably be my top 10, which at the moment would be something like

    1) Licence To Kill
    2) The Living Daylights
    3) Goldeneye
    4) The Spy Who Loved Me
    5) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    6) From Russia With Love
    7) Skyfall
    8) The World Is Not Enough
    9) Octopussy
    10) You Only Live Twice

    Yeah that seems about right.

I love all but DAD. Some I love more than others. And I don't have a strong preference of actors. They all did good jobs.

I think that Bond is overall, probably the most consistently good film series around. Some are better than others, but to me at least, they all do what they set out to do: Entertain !!!!

Well, I like each differently (from a "love" scale to an "appreciate" scale) except QOS, which I didn't like at all (apart from the score). I also like each actor's interpretation.
  • I greatly enjoy every Bond film save for Golden Gun and Secret Service. Those movies I simply "like quite a lot."

The Bond-films are in a way like your family, you like all of them no matter what. But at various time's some of them may be stand in better light and some of them don't. But you can't dislike any of them.

The same goes with the Bond's.

I think seeing as I only view 14 of the Bond films in a positive light, I'm not as all-around as I seem to think I am sometimes.

    I couldn't have put it better !

    Bravo, sir

I'd call myself an all-around fan. I enjoy all the films- I love a good straight-up spy thriller (FRWL is #1), an OTT entry (DAD is near the bottom, but still fun), and everything in between, as mentioned in the opening post. NSNA gets some love too. I grew up with Broz, but don't have a favourite Bond- they all have their strengths. I find it baffling how some fans take Bond so seriously as to dismiss a particular film or actor entirely. It just seems like a burden to me- hindering themselves from getting maximum enjoyment out of it, but each to their own I guess.

Outside of the films, I've read a few of the novels, own a few soundtracks, collect a little bit of merch and most recently dabble in making props.

Yes, I believe I'm an all-round fan. I enjoy them all. Again, I will continue to display my affection for AVTAK. Though I find DAD hard to stomach, I don't completely disregard it, as that car chase (though goofy in some places) is pretty damn good.

Count me in as a member of the "All-Around Fanclub". DAF is a great film, as is AVTAK to a lesser extent, but still 'classic' in my book. I enjoy many parts of Moonraker, and I think there is a decent film in TWINE, if not for the jumbled execution in parts. I have had my fair share of criticism for CR and QOS, but I think there are enough saving graces to keep the films interesting for me. DAD I haven't seen in a very long time, so I can't quite comment. But maybe that's saying something, in that I haven't had the desire to see it! Still, as memory serves, Pierce was a pretty convincing Bond in that one, so I at least enjoyed it for his role.
  • Agreed. I consider myself an 'All-Around Fan." I'd rather watch a "lesser" Bond film than whatever garbage is playing at the theater.

This too! I'll almost always switch to a Bond film if given the option, regardless of where it's at on my list, compared to something else.

I watch them all regularly. So yeah, I enjoy each one for what they are and what they bring to the franchise. I can't say I hate any of them though I recognize their individual shortcomings.
