Casino Royale's Title Sequence the best in the Bond Series?

I do love Goldfinger, OHMSS and Skyfall title sequences but the Casino Royale title sequence has to be the coolest one in the Bond series. The Shadowy Bond figure (i'm persuming it was Craig) just kicking the hell out of some bad guys, the Image of Eva Green that comes up over the Queen, the card with 7 on it which to oo's are shoot beside. But the bit that i think is the coolest is the bit where Craig just walks up in the shadow's, loading his gun and then stoping staring intensly into the camera. Pre title sequence made everyone stand up but that bit nailed Craig was perfect for Bond.

If it isn't the best Bond title Sequence what is?

    CR may very well be the best. I also like GE, TB, LALD, AVTAK, and YOLT. SF's is growing on me.

    I really like the title sequence for Casino Royale. Looks gorgeous and really fits the feel of the film well! It's only beaten by FRWL in my books.

    Funny, I am watching Casino Royale now and I was just thinking that. Not sure if it is the best, but it is certainly now my favourite.

    And I enjoy You Know My Name much more in the title sequence as by itself. Usually the music enhances the image, in this case it is the other way round.

    Well personally I like the nude swimmers in Thunderball. And I also like the title sequence in Goldfinger (scenes of the movie along with scenes from DN and FRWL) and OHMSS (scenes from all five previous films). But you're right, the title sequence in Casino Royale is pretty awesome.

    I agree. With all the pieces put together the title sequence becomes so much more than the sum of it's parts. It's outstanding.

    There's so many great title sequences thanks to the work of Maurice Binder, and some really good ones have followed including the latest in SF. Casino Royale's is outstanding in how it contrasts with the PTS, and I quite frankly cannot understand why any Bond fan wouldn't love the very Bondian YKMN driving it along.

    Great theme intro, lousy title designs in 2006

    It's a neat idea, with the playing cards and everything, if a little banal. Where's the semi-naked girls and appealing silhouettes ? All we get is a brief glimpse of Eva Green's face. Just a little mundane that's all, after some of the previous outstanding efforts that came directly before it. Best in the Bond series ?, not a chance, but the accompanying music does raise it up a little more than it maybe deserves. Good enough if some think it's a great opening, but not for everyone

    Well I guess they felt the naked girls were too much a part of the "old Bond." And I guess they felt, just like the opening circles, that the new Bond would have to earn the naked girls!

    While CR's is good, I still think any of the films between YOLT and LALD are better. TSWLM and SF are pretty great, too.

    Skyfalls is the best I can remember it to this day from the theater.

    There were some great title sequences with naked girls silhouettes, but they were becoming repetitive and generic. I thought the aesthetic looked retro, used the setting and themes of the story very well and have some interesting, subtle metaphores. Oh, and somewhat reminiscent of DN.

    Absolutely love it... Looks gorgeous on Blu-ray.

    CR and SF are my favorite title sequences.

    One of the best to date. It was very cutting edge at the time, copied by many and really works well today too. Plus, no girls for once, a nice change there.

    I'd definitely say its ONE OF the best but not sure its the absolute best (thats either TSWLM or GF in my book).

    With all due respect to Maurice Binder I'm prepared to stick my neck out and say its the best.

    My only real gripe is the speed the blood drops over the GB but overall (combined of course with Cornells YNMN) it rocks.

    I don't think any of the others comes close to blowing you out of your seat in the same way.

    I really like the fact that there isn't a "holdover" feeling to it. TLD had a great PTS but the last minute (to me) seemed like they were trying to wean the audience in and show that this "new Bond" was still something of a suave womaniser. With Craig and CR its just...bam!! :D

    It is most definitely my favorite. It is stylish, different and holds close to the casino theme of the film. I love the silhouette type shots of Bond fighting, the beautiful color palette of the entire sequence and the design that use the PPK, the hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds and so much more. The two bullets being shot before the red 7 card near the end is great, as is the finisher with Dan walking like a bad you know what as he and the screen black out and we lead into the film's rainy intro to our villains. Kleinman's best yet and just another thing that puts Casino Royale heads and tails above the rest.

    I am wondering if it isn't the most significant one as well. By this I mean the one with the richest, deepest meaning. You have Vesper as The Queen, which is I think a nod to Bond's loyalty, it is sterling pounds that are flying around near the end, showing the Queen, the one Bond is ultimately loyal to... SF has those moments too, but CR started it all.

    @Ludovico- that's what I really appreciate about Kleinman's work, it's never the same old, same old and always seems to present something thought provoking that ties in with the film, always beautifully done as far as colors and imagery. Much as I love Binder's work, I also agree with you that many of them are sort of redundant in style and that I don't feel I've gotten that with Kleinman. But I would argue that the SF titles are about equally as good as those of CR, which in this case are like a near death experience with Bond reviewing his life as many who have survived one indicate does often happen. Love everything about this one too.

    It's very true when Kleinman says the titles are the best music videos ever. Have you ever seen a music video as cool as the Bond titles? No, me neither.

    Sorry, I mistook this thread for PRE-title sequence. Hmm...it could very well be, although I do have a fondness for the GE TS and (more recently) the SF TS. All three brilliantly convey the themes/key aspects of the story.

    I loved the OTS for CR! Daniel Kleinman did a really superb job. He pays homage to Ian Fleming's cover novel CR with the Red/Violet colored hearts in the begining of the video. And add Chris Cornell's singing "You Know My Name" (Which was impactful & grabbed your attetion) I'm a big fan of Daniel Kleinman's work. He has done a great job designing the OTS videos for Pierce Brosnan & Daniel Craig's Bond films.

    Classy song, stunning visuals. The theme of the movie and the passing of time from the cold war to the mid 90's was and still is incredible.

    Both Skyfall and Goldeneye possess better opening titles than Casino Royale. Maybe Adele and Turner as respective artists, don't offer the best with regards to the music, but the designs are better for sure and simply offer more

    Hasn't aged well with the wailing from Turner. Everything about the film smells mid 90's to me

    Agreed. The GE titles looks very dated now with all that soviet iconography.

    YKMN is a very muscular song that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and doesnt let go.

    I do love LALD with the burning skull, nude women and voodoo imagery.
