    "Son of Flubber"(1963). Hilarious Disney classic that in many ways is funnier than its prequel, "The Absent Minded Professor"(1961). Love the Flubberized home and Flubbergased football game finale. Also, features a gem of a supporting performance from Joanna Moore("The Andy Griffith Show") as the Professor's ex-girlfriend Desiree de la Roche, whose character inexplicably disappears about halfway through the film and is never referred to again.

    Fair Game

    Terrific thriller by Doug Liman based on the real life events surrounding the lives of Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame. Both Sean Penn and Naomi Watts are superb as Wilson and Plame respectively.

    Just watched Temple Grandin. Didn't realise it was a TV movie until afterwards, when I wondered why it wasn't an Oscar nominee. Awesome performance, and great, moving flick.

    Last night I was feeling a little bit of 80s slasher vibe.. so since I had nothing better to do, and it was late, I figured I would pop on Friday the 13ths Part 2,3, and 4 - the original "Jason Trilogy".... granted, these aren't Hitchcock level type of horror - but they are still great films in their own unique way....

    the original Friday the 13th usually is deemed the greatest out of the whole series, but i like part 2 just a little more - it's Jason's first film as the killer, and the scares and suspense are actually done fairly well considering the time.... my one question - what ever happened to that ginger who was getting plastered at the bar with the 2 main characters?.. he never went back to the camp, so we are to assume that he stayed out drinking?... dare i say he is the smartest person in the entire franchise?? lol

    Friday the 13th part 3 could've been great too, if they removed 2 things - the awful 3D gimmick (which was in it's heyday at that point of time in the 80s) and the awful/comical dialog - it felt like half the script was written by a sitcom writer, and a laugh track could've been easily inserted over it (there is a great youtube video demonstrating this point, go look up "Friday the 13th Part 3 Laugh Track" - good stuff... but one thing that always left me scratching my head - was at the end of Part 2, Jason comes crashing through the window, and he has long Dave Mustaine hair going on.... yet, in the very beginning of Part 3, which is supposed to have taken place the following day (i believe), his hair is gone - and his head is clean bald... did Jason just stop off at Barber's shop? - he obviously didn't care what his hair looked like for years?, why the sudden switch? - did he know the cops were looking for him? Is that why he also opted to change his clothes too?? Going from a crazy looking farmer with a sack over your head, to slacks, a button down shirt and a hockey mask really doesn't lend itself to being a drastic switchup in disguise, lol..

    Part 4 the "Final" Chapter... is again a decent entry, and miles better than part 3 - the sitcom dialog from part 3 is gone, but they might as well have swapped it for dialog written for a daytime soap.. the kills are brutal, thanks once again to Tom Savini - and just as brutal is Crispin Glover's awful dancing - it looks like he's having an epileptic fit lol.... the only real part of this movie that i never understood - was the Brawny Man hunting Jason, because Jason killed his sister - yet when he gets attacked by him in a basement, he does nothing to fight back, instead opting to just scream "HE'S KILLING ME! OH MY GOD HE'S KILLING ME!!" as Jason stabs him to death..... what a wuss..

    If that were me I would have gone for a triple bill of Pt III (best film of the 'Mongoliod Jason' era, The New Blood & Jason Goes To Hell (the two best films of the 'Zombiefied Jason' era.

    But then my ranking of the series isn't a popular one.

    Watched Source Code on Friday. Very enjoyable. I know some people have compared it to Quantum Leap like the film was ripping it off but I don't believe it was. A small cameo appearence made sure it was saluted in a subtle way. I also watched Infamous this morning. Quite good but I preferred the Philip Seymor Hoffman film. I really need to get around to reading In Cold Blood.

    PREY (2006) Family goes on a safari trip. Lions are everywhere. And they are hungry. That's about it I'm afraid. It's got Peter Weller. But then it's not like he ever was such a brilliant actor. 2/5

    my favorite movie out of the bunch is actually Part 6 : Jason Lives, followed closely by Part 7 : The New Blood... there is a fun quality about Jason Lives, plus it's the first film to feature zombie Jason, and the first and only time we ever see campers and camp counselors lol..

    Jason Lives, along with The Final Chapter, Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason, sit in the middle of my ranking. If I were to split the series into three groups, those I like, those i'm on the fence about and those I dislike, then those 4 films would reside in the 2nd group.

    I admit it's a little... out there. But I think it's got some neat kills:

    - Cryogenic face freeze / table smash
    - Silent/slow kneck snap
    - Machette: in one way, out the other
    - Once more down the drill dear friends

    And I do like Jasons look in the film. I think of Jason X as the Diamonds Are Forever of the F13 series, cheesey and brutal in equal measure. And I even managed to not mention Uber Jason... oh dammit.

    Just finished watching Piranha 3D as I wanted to improve my rather juvenile taste in film ;) . Topless women (one of which is Kelly Brook) + man-eating fish + Marcellus Wallace + Doc Brown - Matt Hooper = a movie that is so bad its actually quite brilliant.

    Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) - 9/10
    Excellent film, one of the best adventure/action films of all time.

    RoboCop (1987) - 8/10
    A really good blow 'em up sci-fi film with a little bit of social allegory thrown in.

    RoboCop 2 (1990) - 5/10
    There were parts that were actually really good and (more often) there were super boring parts. Sacrifices story for bullets. Blah.

    ...and sorry, I'm not j7wild....lol

    only 2 kills i liked in Jason X.... Freezing the girl's face then shattering it, and the over the top sleeping bag kill (obvious call back to part 7).. that was really it... I understand, that you can't take Jason movies too seriously, and they are popcorn horror flicks, but this just pushed it way too far for my personal tastes - it basically turned into a parody of itself and the franchise - but i guess when you got Jason in Space, what do you expect, right?? lol....... still though, best kill in the entire franchise was in Part 8 - punching the guy's head off, and then it rolls into a dumpster - fan-freakin-tastic!.. lol

    Only just noticed your reply, dragonsky, apologies. Saw Inception last year and can categorically state it's a 'five-star' movie in my book. In fact, I liked it so much I caught it at the flicks twice... :)

    Aka, A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Amazing films! The music, the atmosphere, the characters, the actors. Everything. And needless to say, Clint Eastwood is bloody fantastic! All three of them are definitely in my top films list.
    I watched The Good, The Bad And The Ugly today: needless to say it was utterly fantastic. Van Cleef, Wallach and Eastwood all gave blinding performances, and the final duel (even though I already knew its outcome) was incredibly tense and perfectly done.

    I have very high expectations for For A Few Dollars More Tonight, then I'm off to a car boot sale tomorrow morning to try and hunt down A Fistful Of Dollars :P

    Brilliant film. Terrific performance from Natalie Portman, who more than deserved her win for Best Actress, and a surprisingly great turn from Mila Kunis as well. Aranofsky crafts a truly brilliant horror/thriller film with this, and I look forward to watching some of his other films.
